Lesson: If some guy frantically signals when you’re taxiing down the runway, there’s a damn good reason. It’s not what he does for exercise.
Hey, where you off too?
Oh, I'm going out on the tarmac to frantically signal random aircraft for the exercise again.
OK, have fun!

A western airline would not allow aircraft to run in this condition. The fact that they allowed it to fly with an intermittent fuel leak is inexcusable. This particular clip documented multiple defects affecting two aircraft. Their entire fleet should be considered at risk.
Ashuthosh...Boeing doesn’t make the engines and they rely on the airlines to maintain the engines and the plane.
@Ashutosh singh It is sad that as an Indian you find this offensive. Your people are the most at risk by this terrible example of incompetent maintenance and reporting. If as you say, there are so many fuel leaks on Boeings in India, then perhaps the problem is more widespread than just one airline. I am more inclined to think that you are embellishing.

wow, not only did they turn off a vital means of communication, they even ignored ground personell desperately waving his jacket, did no one tell them that ground personell do not ever desperately wave at planes just for the hell of it? one would think you do not even have to tell them this... and they ignored several calls from the tower, and finally, the captain and second officer evacuated on their own, ignoring the well being of their passengers and crew... if anyone deserves to be punished over this incident it would be the captain and the second officer.
and considering that drops of fuel was found in the engine, this should be rather concerning, because those drops was somewhere they really should not be and this can only really mean one thing, you got a leak, however small it may be, theres a leak, and while i'm not a expert in planes, i believe a fuel leak inside a engine is probably something you desperately want to find.

I wonder how many miles of safety wire I’ve used in that time.
Glad to hear that all got out safely.
I’m guessing, but I would assume ‘safety wire’ is just zip ties. I’ve worked on drilling rigs to big trucks and every one has them. Enough vibration over the years and they will cut through metal, a rubber hose in a matter of days ,maybe a month or two.
@@kennypeshlakai2416 You know, zip ties should be added to bailing wire and bubble gum,, poor maintenance practices.
Thank goodness this all happened on the ground. With how much of a mess the crew was with almost no communication, this surely could've killed everyone.
Fire and aircraft DO NOT MIX, on the ground or in the air. As a former commercial pilot, I can't think of anything much more frightening, than having your airplane on fire.
If my plane is delayed and they refuse to tell me why I’m immediately canceling my ticket. I’m not dying at the hands of a negligent person

Missed my connecting flight to Prague. Totally wont fly with Condor.
It happens all the time.
鈴木大和 Funny thing, according to Flightradar24, there has been not one flight KUL-DWC-FRA delayed for 14 hours, between November 19 and December 31, during which time Condor operated that route with a 757.
By the way: as a passenger you are entitled to a compensation, according to EU rights. Only thing is, you have to claim it directly from the airline

Interesting: the video said that evacuation was commanded ONLY from the right side of the aircraft. But I did see the slide being deployed by door 1L , which is on the side of the fire.
Second: the Captain is supposed to deplane and evacuate LAST as he is supposed to be a true leader in commanding his ship and make sure that everyone evacuated FIRST. Just like Sully on the Hudson River did.
I think the captain of the flight was related to the captain of the Costa Concordia ship! Cousins perhaps???!!!
@@GaryNumeroUno LOL....actually more like twins separated at birth!!!
Agreed
No the video said the Evac COMMENCED from the right, but then the L1 doors, which could have been far enough to be deployed, could've been used after the evacuation was already underway.
There is no rule or law in aviation stating the captains must evacuate last. I don’t even think it’s a point of common decency, it’s simply something that’s not necessary. A year or two ago a Sukhoi Super Jet burst into flames in Russia, both pilots evacuated through the windshield of the plane. Half the people on that flight died, more died than necessary due to people stopping to grab their belongings prior to evacuation. Had the pilots evacuated last or tried to inject themselves into the flow of passengers there may have been even more loss of life.
Aviation and maritime standards are two different things.

I bet that if they had actually kept the vhf 3 on, the plane might not have been written off in the end.
Nah, usually vhf 3 is for acars, and company freq is set on vhf 2 in stby, and 121.5 in active mode. Vhf 1 is for atc comm, with active mode for current freq and stb mode for next freq.
Quite possible, however, as a former commercial pilot, I do see how it could be distracting. It's challenging enough doing checklists, watching for traffic, both ramp and aircraft, and listening to ATC. I don't disagree with you but when I worked for a Canadian commuter in the 80s we weren't required to monitor company freq. Surely someone could have communicated that an aircraft had a fuel leak. I mean that is an emergency situation even if it didn't catch fire......as it did.
Mark Walker i think nobody monitoring company channel this day.
Luckily the flight is delayed and caught fire in the ground, can't imagine if the plane already thousand of feet and burst into flame.

On a different note, found the entire surviving 747 fleet of Air India at Mumbai last Friday. I was on one myself (VT-ESP), first time with the queen. Sadly, a few years ago, an investigation revealed that most airlines conduct insufficient safety checks and even contract out so much of the work to cheap outfits away from the airport. The contractors have such a heavy workload that they don't do thorough inspections either. Aside from that. Boeing and their damn planes smh
Boeing don't make the engines.
I could not agree more. Although maintenance was responsible for the event, the crew nearly took the plane into the air in that rapidly deteriorating condition due to shutting off vital communications and ignoring human warnings.
The airline has been noted by the investigation as failing to maintain their aircraft in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. In this case Air India was at fault.

if the tow bar hadn’t broken, the would’ve took off without knowing about the fuel leak
Praise be to the tow bar!
What a comedy of errors, issues and problems. It was almost like a Keystone Cops show with all the things going wrong. Sometimes a flight is destined not to takeoff and the warning signs of many things going wrong should be noted!
Legends says: The passengers are still waiting for their plane....
The universe did its best to tell this crew not to take off for this flight; good thing they finally listened. Wonder if they kept #829 for this route.
Low cost carriers always use the shittest cheap planes on the market ive seen sum airlines use airplanes dat started flying all the way bak in the 60s 70s and still use them. They are legit flying coffins its crazy
Can you name a few? Also *cough* Air Koryo *cough*
air india is not that cheap but still there service is shit and their flights are always delayed

American carriers are no different. In 2016 I was flying out of Tokyo on a United 747 that was older than dirt. No onboard entertainment, everything that was supposed to be white in color was yellowish, this thing was a hunk of junk. When I got off in LA I swore I'd never fly an American carrier to Asia again. United charged for everything including bottled water. I mainly fly Cathey Pacific, nice boeing 777's with entertainment consoles, free everything including alcohol.
