    I love that you show us the "failures" as you go about learning and designing!

    Hi teacher, I'm a neophyte and have always been passionate about ceramics. I bought a rather weak cheap Vevor pottery wheel and I'm trying as a self-taught person. I learned how to make my first dish thanks to this video and a shorter video, where you can see the various phases very well. , for now just a prototype, I made it directly on the lathe because I don't have the bases to be able to remove it, it would break. So unfortunately I will have to break it to free the lathe, but I will get the wooden bases, I can say that the experiment was successful. However, by watching his videos I am learning to take the first steps towards a beautiful art. Thank you master for your videos, because sharing is a beautiful thing

    The roller is my new method of adding extra to my plates.
    Thanks

    Such an easy way to make plates. I've thrown about 2 dozen using this technique and I'm only spending about 5-7 minutes per plate. Much more consistent, very stackable and the texture on the flange/lip adds interest without eating up valuable space for the food. I'm going to push this technique and see if it can be used to make matching bowls.

    This was really helpful Mikkel- thanks! I've been thinking of making some proper plates for my own kitchen and your tricks are brilliant- just what I need to make them easily and nicely.

    Another lovely video! So so good to see the failures too. Appreciate the honest and open approach. Plates look lovely. Will be interesting to hear your thoughts on the new 1000g ones - do they feel too fragile? Are they too fragile? Thanks again for sharing.

      I will only know how the new plates turn out after final glaze :-)

    Thank you for showing your work. I am interested in the material of your batts that you use for plates. I find I must wire off wheel thrown plates as they do not seem to pop off when dry(ing) on their own.

      I have a video about my bats and testing them here: ruclips.net/video/Qpq6jF0206Q/видео.html

    Did you ever do a video showing the results of these plates and how they compared to the 1300 gram ones? Which ones did you like better and were there any unexpected problems firing them or did they all turn out fine?

    • @deMibPottery
      @deMibPottery  4 месяца назад +1

      Yes, I did this review of the results: ruclips.net/video/uyLOd0NF_jk/видео.html

    Thank you for walking through this. What type of pottery bats are you using that the plates come off so nicely? I've tried basic/thin MDF and plastic bats, both requiring wiring off. Unfortunately the wiring off is my biggest point of failure with plates.

    Thank you for a great video. May I ask what is the width in cm for these plates?

    • @deMibPottery
      @deMibPottery  Год назад +1

      Thanks. The inner size of the final plates is 21 cm. I am not sure what the size of the "dish" is before I cut and create the flange :-)

    How wide is your 1000 gram plate and approximately how thin? Thanks!

    • @deMibPottery
      @deMibPottery  8 месяцев назад

      Inside about 21 cm. Probably approx 1/2 cm thick or less

    900grams it says for a dinner plate? Tried to look it up on line?

    • @deMibPottery
      @deMibPottery  6 месяцев назад

      No, there are many different standards. It depends on many things such as clay, such, design and goal etc.

  • @RayMrRobert

    Porcelain not ceramic. High strength. Less weight.

    • @deMibPottery
      @deMibPottery  Год назад

      Ceramics is the state of fired clay no matter if its earthenware, stoneware or porcelain - or any mixed clay.
      Porcelain is not lighter but stronger (partly due to being fired at higher temperature) and can - depending on the type be made thinner.
