Do you mean callous or actual blister? I've never heard of a blister forming inside the lower lip and I've seen a LOT of players and students, but soreness and callouses yes. The cigarette paper is a good solution and many players and teachers, for example Joe Allard, recommended the same thing probably 70 or 80 years ago. I've done the same thing occasionally over the years, even saw Eddie Daniels use that trick 45 years ago. And having been a Joe Allard student Eddie likely got the idea from Joe.
Good evening Sir, Each time I play the upper register on the alto sax, my sound is kind of light and not very sharp. Its really challenging, please advise 🙏🙏🙏
@@LondonSaxophoneSchool I tried rehearsing with this hack yesterday only challenge I got is too much saliva makes it so wet it wants to fall off. What to do?
You might need to experiment with finding the right size for you. It takes few tries to get used to it... persevere and you will get used to it eventually😀
Great advice, this channel deserves more subscribers 🤩🤩
Thank you for your support Yaren😀🤣🎷
And i thought thats not a normal experience on a new beginner, thank you so much
Yeah, that’s a common thing among all players... from super pros to new beginners😀
Thank you so much for this tip! :D
So glad it helped😀😀🙏
Thanks for posting, really helpful I just bought some for myself. :)
Glad I could help! Those little cigarette papers do really make a difference! Enjoy playing for longer!
Thank you I play sax and it helps a whole much
So glad you found this video helpful😀🎷 keep up the good work!
Is it wise to force training with out the paper
If you try to play through the pain it will take longer to recover the day after :)

Yes, callous indeed! I’ve always called it blister, sorry for my English in this case.

Hi Ironde! Am not sure what you mean about this. If you join the facebook group Saxophone Masters I’ll be able to help you further😀😀
Best solution ever. I have a 5 hour solo gig and I have sore lips from my last gig.
It is great, isn't it? Those long gigs are the worst, I know! Now you can play for longer!! YEY!

Also, if you are doing that 5hr gig you will need to replace the lip protector many times as it tends to break after a while
