  • Here I am, travelling with an open heart to discover a wondrous archipelago landscape of the Sumbawa Island (Tau Samawa). Sumbawa’s rich culture stems from an eclectic mixture of traditions and history, from the Malay ancestry inhabitants to the Bajo people living in the Sea Gypsy Village of Bungin Island. Sincere happiness and cheerful faces of these people welcome anyone to this beautiful island.
Hidden as part of the exotic middle Lesser Sunda Islands chain in eastern Indonesia, the island has breath-taking landscapes and beautiful seascapes - untouched parcels of paradise offering beauties and thousands of mysteries -. Part of the mysteries in this island, one cannot ignore the historic massive Tambora eruption in 1815 and the story behind the hidden artifacts in Doro Bente symbolizing the Kingdom of Sumbawa in the past.
Rich landscapes offer ones for endless travel tracks, from the green lush of tropical dry forest, to savannah in the Tambora National Park - home to famous indigenous Sumbawa wild horses -. Beautiful beaches stretch from east to west with a unique mangrove forest. Saleh Bay-Moyo-Tambora (SAMOTA) Biosphere Reserve offers a crystal-clear ocean with magnificent coral reefs and unique species of marine biota. Local wisdom offers lessons on how to conserve these natural resources in the island.

Thank you for such a beautiful video showcasing Sumbawa. We are visiting in a few months time and have been researching on youtube but most videos are of surfing. It's awesome to have the opportunity to see the culture and landscapes of Sumbawa Island and a little of it's history.
