Thannks for this video, Mike. I had to do a cleaning and some repair work on an old french brass and glass with a little round movement like this one. Your video was just the tutorial I needed!
I am very happy my video help you out. It's all about learning and most these clock are new to me as well and try to show what the clocks are all about inside.
I enjoyed your video. I just got the Waterbury crystal regulator, so I'll see if it is set up about the same. I'm excited about it. I hope they shipped it right. It's supposed to be here tomorrow. I think these are beautiful clocks.
They can be scary taking the barrel spring apart. But very satisfying getting it clean and back in the barrel with no injuries. Thanks so much for stopping in Bat.
I think and I am not sure that the markings of "53" is to show them that the parts all go together for that clock. I like the procedures that you do to take the barrel cap off. I will have to try that. I couldnt understand the Mickey Mouse voice while you were putting the spring back in. LOL. I found when putting the French movements back together it is easier to take the scews out of the rear plate that hold the bushing (in this case there were 2 of them). The broken key would have had a smaller key that went with it that is for the adjustment of lifting the pendulum up and down. The other key is a newer key that they bought. Another great video. Thanks for the shout out at the end. May God Bless you and yours.
The 4 11 is for the length of pendulum. The escapement with two shaped pin is a dead beat escarpment which is more efficient than a recoil escarpment and of higher quality.
You've got a Marti French movement, how great thats a very good movement. Rare to find a real mercury pendelum! They started putting a solid color material later in the pendelums so you have a really good one...but dont open the tubes. Congrats!
I knew that the tubs were mercury tubs and the look like they are sealed when they were made. Funny how the glass was stained by the mercury. I guess some times when I buy clocks, and about 1/2 the time I get a winner. Thank you so much for stopping in and letting me know just what I have.
Mike good morning that is a beautiful clock I never seen a mercury, weighted pendulum I wonder how old the clock is. Have a wonderful, blessed day and week
Your papa is right, but you have to remember that it is your clock and if you don't like what you see, then fix it your way so you can be happy with it.
The darker one is more than likely the newer one the blue one is the older one back then they produced them like that I think but I recently picked up a spring for another clock and it wasn’t blue
Thanks Mike A neat clock. You did a great job!
Thanks 👍. I do try my best and with the clock running again, I think I did Okay. God Bless

Thank you Kratai. Nice to see you again. God Bless
Looks like a challenge to me, I would have that thing running like a Ford Pinto if I worked on that.
Did you mean a Vega, lol. Hate to pick on the Fords, lol.
I remember when i was about 10 years old I took a clock spring like this apart and it shot out so fast scared the tar outta me.

Thank you Mark. I hope I don't get a copyright strike on the Mickey Mouse Voice Over, lol. God Bless.

Good Morning Will. I do believe someone left a comment that the clock was built around 1910 or earlier.
Sorry you ended with sone broke pieces in the mail nice clock tho
I just wish they would sometimes think when they are packaging the clocks. Thanks for watching and God Bless
My papa always told me it's better not to restore old clocks. Leave them as much as you can as original because the value will be taken away.

I agree on the color springs. Just thinking about it, I haven't seen a blue spring in a long while. Thanks for stopping in Cobe’s Clocks 2
I have a very similar clock. It runs abit fasr. How do I slow it down? Thanks
On the bottom of the pendulum, there is a nut you turn to make the pendulum move down to slow down the clock and move up to speed the time faster.
@@justmike57 thanks, that works
Thanks for the video. How much would a clock like that cost? Cheers!
It all depends. Normally you are looking between $250.00 to $600.00
