Usually all of these clips are about people being dumb, but man that accident at 2:40 is one of those that is scary. Same for deer running out when you're in a dense forest and they just dart in front of you.

@@H4I2I2EE yeah but riding fast and doing a head check combined with just human error could do it. It was avoidable but we all make mistakes too.

I think that I would not be driving a motorcycle between cars and thus avoid all those potential accidents.
Just because lane splitting is legal in some states doesn’t mean it’s safe.

You have me completely convinced that lain splitting is a bad idea.
Too many a$$hat riders think that lane splitting gives them the right of way. It's a CONVENIENCE, not a right of way. And then add their brain dead practice of lane splitting where the speed differential is 40 or 50 mph and you have a recipe for disaster. I don't have much sympathy for those who abuse lane splitting laws, or who drive like total dumba$$es on public roads jeopardizing innocent lives because they don't have enough sense to ride within the law and sensibly. If you want speed, go to the track and stop endangering innocent lives.

Lots of bad driving, then get mad. Cars don’t see motorcycles, especially if the mc is speeding and lane splitting, which is illegal in almost all states.
Even if it wasn’t illegal, they’re doing it far too fast and uncontrolled.
They should make it legal, then teach how to do it safely when getting licensed.

If you’re lane splitting it’s your job to keep yourself alive if you’re traveling that much faster than traffic.

2:21 - Lane splitting on a bike that big isn't the best idea. In CA, you're not "advised" to split next to large, wide vehicles just for this reason.

@@-Akira_Therian- You're not allowed to cross double-yellows at any time. Also, the exit for that particular lane was only a few hundred feet further ahead, dude should have just waited until he could legally exit the lane. Ur welcome.
@@-Akira_Therian-that is not an exit and you’re not allowed to cross double yellow. That’s the carpool lane from the 5 North merging onto the 14 North in So Cal. I lived in Palmdale for about 14 years, which is about 30 minutes north of there and why I know that portion of freeway.

@@borisslarkevich9706 It was sitting on the double-yellow lines. It's illegal to cross or split on the double-yellow lines. Had the biker stayed in the lane like he was supposed to, he wouldn't have hit it.

Looked like speed and bad brake control locked him up causing him to hit the corner of the car. Even if I rode a smaller bike (2010 Harley FLH) I wouldn't lane split. Every time you go near another vehicle it's more dangerous....but splitting with a big 1/2 ton bike is just asking for it.

@@PathinAZ it's not that dangerous so long as you don't go much faster than the cars and you know the width of your bike. Like me, I know my mirrors are the widest part so as long as my mirrors are clear the rest of my bike is fine.
@@H4I2I2EE Yea, it's not about knowing the width of your bike. It's a simple fact that in order to be hit by a vehicle, you need to be close to it; so for as long as I've been riding, since I don't trust any driver on the road, the closer you put yourself to another vehicle the more dangerous it is. All it takes, even if it's at a stop light and you're going slowly, is some moron opening the door on you.
This doesn't include the morons that get pissed and don't know the laws, so they intentionally screw with you.
Not worth it to me.

Lane splitting isn't legal in Kentucky. I'm ok with that, I don't think it's something that can be done safely. Cagers are crazy.
Lane splitting it safe as long as it's done at the right speed. I do it at least five days a week. It should be legal everywhere.
It’s also not illegal. I do it occasionally in Lexington when they shut down all the lanes except for one on Nicholasville road.
They just made it legal here in Tucson w/ some stipulations. Cars must be stopped at a light, where you can slowly move to the front. The day it became legal, crazy riders were flying in-between cars at all speeds.
Never liked the idea of putting myself closer to another vehicle on purpose. Even if I rode a smaller bike (2010 HD FLH) I wouldn't do it. I don't trust other drivers. Can't be properly paranoid on 2 wheels if you're threading the needle.

2:25 is not that he had the worst luck ever, he broke the law, he was crossing a double yellow line, if he stayed in his lane until ha can exit the fastrak legally that wouldn't happen.

Not clearly the tow truck drivers fault. Were the riders overtaking the truck in a no passing zone or were they coming in the opposite direction? Did the driver in his BRIGHT YELLOW truck use turn signals and or emergency lights?
You don't have the right to just hit a U-turn in the middle of a busy road. Thru traffic as the right of way.

More than 90% of these riders got exactly what they had coming. Bikes are supposed to follow the same rules of the road as cars and trucks but they don't so they pay the price.

@@SacramaniacCc I disagree. Sitting btw 2 cars, you only have to really worry about what's coming up behind you. Filtering/lane splitting is exposing yourself to a different driver less than once a second, from 2 sides. Every time you put yourself close to any other vehicle, you are increasing your risk, so riding btw them IMO is just risky as hell.

@@Choosetoone Well, my opinion is simply based on the 43 yrs I've been riding. I'd love to see those "studies". Besides, dependent on who made those "studies", data is easily cherry picked to propagate a certain point of view. It's done quite often.
It's simple. You can't get in a collision accident with another vehicle if you aren't near any, so as long as I've ridden, that's my first priority. So far, it's done me well.

It was a fine and legal place to U turn, not a legal place for a motorcycle to pass the tow truck driver.
