Thanks for the positive comment SpearHunter2. I was quite impressed how the buoy handled a storm this last September. I took the boat out of the water soon after that as winter storms in this area of the world are just too powerful. Some people drag their buoys and anchors out of the water also. Doing so obviously will make your gear last longer not only from salt water corrosion but erosion from the chain dragging on the bottom.

The problem with galvanized hardware is that friction will rapidly wear the coating off.

Jeep, just the buoy on the end of the chain floated, then I tied it onto the back of the boat and dragged the weight/anchor to the depth I wanted it at.

Another note; If you do not remove your set up every winter remember to inspect your gear for wear and sea life/plant growth. Keep the chain and float clean as this growth will add weight to your gear which will result in decreased buoyancy 8)

I have since sold the boat and do not have any info on its weight. What I can tell you is that the boat was 18', bow rider design with a V6 4.3 Mercruiser with fresh water cooling. the build of the boat was neither light or super heavy.

Any idea of the weight and how dopiest you get the mooring to the drop zone?

How many bags of concrete did you use to make that? (Trying to get an idea of the weight.)

You know Micheal I cant remember but the boat build was not light as it was an inboard outboard with a fairly large fuel tank and fresh water plumbing.

You should of just welded the rebar into your tire rather than use wire . Because by welding the rebar in your tire it wood be stronger
