@@paksta Defcon 5 is the lowest. 1 is the highest. It's a common movie trope for them to be confused because of the assumption that since five is a bigger number than one it must be worse.
I almost exclusively rewatch old movies now. This morning I watched some RUclips clips from Forrest Gump. Then I came here,.....and my heart shattered.
Ugh. It's no wonder ticket sales in theaters are tanking. Not only is it getting ridiculously expensive but honestly there's just nothing good out there I'm willing to spend the money on. Even my teenager would rather do anything else than go to the movies right now.

I was gonna say the same thing then saw your comment so I'll save my breath. I just canceled my AMC A-list membership. Hasn't been a decent movie in a while and the future looks bleak. Back to books it is (though a Quiet Place looks dope, I'll go see that)

Science fiction is a way to imagine a future, and once you imagined something you can now build it, it is not an accident that most of modern science fiction is post-apocalyptic and/or shows a very dark, gritty version of the future. We are on an edge of WW3 in the real world, and we didnt get here on accident, western societies were led on this path through decades of programming.

Imagine they actually try for something even slightly different like with Prometheus, in fact there is plot holes and other things about it that would be great rather than rehash the same formula over and over. Idk, I'm still disappointed with Hollywood at this point.

Plot twist: The new alien movie takes another approach and this time it’s about people running in corridors for 2 hours until, in the end, there’s a alien hidden in the space pod.
War of the Worlds extension is defi a sci fi channel pos up there with Sharknado 😅
At least the 'Sharknado' franchise was MEANT to be tongue-in-cheek terrible and campy, this just looks plain terrible.
Alien is horror, Dead Pool is Comic, Megalopolis was released a month ago, Quiet Place is horror, LOTR is fantasy, Never Let Go is horror, so is Latency. No idea what Lumina is but it's got Eric Roberts in so will be epic, War of the Worlds Extinction wtf, The Moon looks like sci-fi but a rip-off of the Martian

For those of you who recognize the surname, yes, this is the origin story of what today we refer to as Veuve Clicquot Champagne, commonly referred to as "The Widow" because Veuve means Widow in French.
If you are interested in wine, women's rights, perseverance in the face of all odds, war, cleverness, or triumph, then you must see this film.

Yeah, that pretty much sums it up. But I'm convinced there's still room in the market for good, light-hearted comedies. Like Ferris Bueller's Day Off, for instance. That film released today could do no harm.The cast would just need to be multi-ethnic. But I'm not suggeting the remake of that film, but rather more films with the same originality and general tone.
