    Welcome back to the scene Tom! Yeah I think we can write off those F Tools projections. Can one really expect Perez to manage to slice his way up the grid after his possibly terrible qualifying? With stronger opponents? No. 2X Checo is madness. They’ll change that after practice. Anyway, my only alternative team is VER/LEC - FER / RB plus the filler.

    • @potpanmanF1
      @potpanmanF1  7 месяцев назад

      Hey Michael, those tools simulations have really made me think. 3 slots filled with the best assets looks appealing (but no Max 2x feels so wrong). I'd probably do HAM or LEC unless Perez stomps the practice sessions! We have plenty of choice this year, but the choices feel so naff having to fill in so many budget slots!

    I agree that F1 is probably censoring your team name for the 'pot' component but if anyone takes a risk going without Verstappen in the first race of the season, you'd have to think they're smoking some of that stuff!

    • @potpanmanF1
      @potpanmanF1  7 месяцев назад

      You completely sold on Max 2x? I'm like almost certain he'll be my 2x but those fantasy tools simulations are making me doubt it!

    • @f1fantasyhub
      @f1fantasyhub 7 месяцев назад

      @@potpanmanF1 I agree, hadn't even thought about it until I saw the F1F Tools sims. I think I'd rather start with Max for a couple weeks to assess how quick FER/MCL/MER are, as opposed to going without and then having to uproot half my team to get him in if he's instantly dominant (probably likely lol)

    • @jerchhocevar427
      @jerchhocevar427 7 месяцев назад

      I'm having 2 teams with Verstappen and 1 team without him with 2 strong constructors (Red Bull and Ferrari). I think it's much more important to have Red Bull as constructor than Verstappen as a driver.
      Tbf I only like his first team, second one is very doubtful without Red Bull as a constructor and third one is relying on the 2 drivers from Sauber which i definitely wouldn't risk.
      While writing that he changes his third team to what my team without Verstappen look like 😂

    Hi, my choice for the first race balanced between 2 team.
    Safe Team : Same as yours with Ver, Str, Tsu, Zhou, Alb, both RB. I was tempted by the Aston martin choice for more potential points but I believe that the RB2 will increase more and give me more money and I'll try to maximize my point with the money later.
    Bold Team : RB and Ferrari, with Lec Str, Tsu, Alb, Zhou.
    Safe team Pros : Verstappen RB is the way to go for a safe start. No matter what you're picking as your top driver, the rest is pretty much the same any way. + with Ver you can potentially expect a fastest lap more often and a DOTD if nothing happen and he just smashed the first race. I'm expecting RB2 to score me some pitstop point here and there and maybe 1 Q3 or 2 Q2 worst case.
    Safe team Cons : Is there any cons ?
    Bold team Pros : Pick this one only if Ferrari look like a dominant second team. If mercedes can battle with them it's a no for me. They need to be TOP 4 every race. Leclerc need to be reliable, no DNF no wrong strategy, if it's the case you can maybe expect a DOTD for Lec if nothing happened as fan like Lec. Ferrari will score 2 Q3 and as they are very underpriced for me, I'm expecting making a lot of money on Ferrari and Lec during the start of the season.
    Bold team Cons : It's going to be almost the same amount of point as the Safe one, very risky and to rely on ferrari isn't something that I really like, the main goal here is making money I think.

  • @whyisthehandlesotaken
    @whyisthehandlesotaken 7 месяцев назад

    I recommend not relying on Perez entirely cuz his only purpose is to be the Robin of the Batman. He won't put much of a challenge and would likely give the points to max

  • @Pilsemannetje
    @Pilsemannetje 7 месяцев назад

    Maybe a big question to ask yourself when picking RB2 as constructor: how likely is it that the RB2’s reach Q3, cause both drivers reaching Q3 is worth 10 points and those points can be very valuable 🤔
    I want more consistency in those Q3 Points so I go 100% with 2 Big Constructors

    • @potpanmanF1
      @potpanmanF1  7 месяцев назад

      For sure, but then you either miss out on Max 2x or the red bull constructor. Can't have it all 😭

  • @glenngrant3469
    @glenngrant3469 7 месяцев назад

    Wayhey! Almost there, mate!! Great to be back in it.
    I think you hit on it at the end. I think the points differential between Ferrari and RB2 will be bigger that the differential between Max and, say, Lewis or LeClerc. My feeling is that having Max in your team might grab a bagload of points ... but it really hampers the rest of your team by having to pick a lot of budget-type drivers and constructor. RB/FER/LEC for me, I think!

    • @potpanmanF1
      @potpanmanF1  7 месяцев назад

      Yeah, it's just tough because we basically know max is gonna be miles on front and guaranteed points for us. We don't know for sure how good Ferrari are though. We are making educated guesses. I'll be hard pressed to leave Max out while 2x is an option. Let's see what practice brings.

    Nice video!
    I'm really tempted for going with the simulation team, (RB/Fer Perx2) as I think if in my league I go with the same strategy as exactly everyone how will I standout.

    Ferrari/VRB Max x2, Per, Tsu, Gas, Sar

    3. Per x2, Zhou*, Alo, Gas, Ric. Fer / Merc

    Been waiting for this. So much insight already this is a different level of passion for F1 fantasy and we're all here for it! I actually find your middle build at the end the team 2 to be very enticing...gasly vs tsunoda more what I'm going to be looking out for in FP1...unless, like you hinted, an unexpected team or driver throws a spanner in FP sessions that make us all have to rejig our whole teams. Exciting times ahead. Like you said you gotta start strong or it's a long road ahead. First race is the worst race honestly for fantasy.

    • @Drizzydid
      @Drizzydid 7 месяцев назад

      I feel like the start of fantasy this season for the first few races simply boils down to how much you trust perez vs how much you trust rb's potential to do an aston martin vs how much sand you believe mclaren packed in their bags.

    • @potpanmanF1
      @potpanmanF1  7 месяцев назад

      A lot hinges on RBs performance in practice. If they legit then team 1 looks like a go. Otherwise, 2 big constructors or maybe even the Aston Martin build might be the one.

    • @Drizzydid
      @Drizzydid 7 месяцев назад

      @@potpanmanF1 I still feel it's Checo that makes or breaks RB as a constructors pick. I can see Max exploiting the strengths of this car in ways Checo can't in a way that may be more detrimental than last year and if the other teams have caught up more than RB has progressed then Checo is not a lock for consistent P2s in any races this season and that's what concerns me...

  • @RacecarThat

    What are your thoughts on a High-Mid team? here is my look...
    Drivers
    Sainz- Looking strong early
    Norris- Building on from last season i expect him to be challenging perez
    Hamilton- feeling way more comfortable in his car this year
    Riccardo- pushing hard for a redbull seat
    Gasly- podium last year and severely underpriced in my opinion
    Constructors:
    Aston Martin- Strong cars for midfield
    Racing Bulls- with yuki and danny fighting for RB seat they will surly perform

    • @potpanmanF1
      @potpanmanF1  7 месяцев назад +1

      I'm not sure going small on constructors is something I'd do. It looks quite good having all those good drivers in the team but the constructors score the most points so getting at least 1 big one in is important IMO

  • @dmg8530
    @dmg8530 7 месяцев назад

    Thanks Tom for the excellent video. Think you've covered most of the key areas we need to consider. I guess Fantasy have done a good job of choosing pricing so that you cannot run ideal teams, ie. RED, FER/MER, VER as base. And from testing it doesn't look like we'll have a 2023 underpriced AMR situation, and guess pricing changes will be the good 2023 v2 model. Depending on FP's in Bahrain, I'll either go with RED, RB, VER or FER, MER, VER as base, plus cheap drivers.
    A lot of people are not choosing Haas. Yet if they are the slowest in quali, but have improved their quali pace, they could fit the ideal gain positions in the race scenario. 5th, 6th, even 7th fastest teams do not generally do well Fantasy wise (unless faster teams DNF). What do you think, worth risking it on Haas? Or should we wait to see how they do in races 1, 2?

    • @potpanmanF1
      @potpanmanF1  7 месяцев назад

      Thanks! I'd be reluctant to go for Haas until I see some real promise from them. I wanna see some real race pace from them. Like you say, might give them a race or two before purchasing. Tbh the budget slots are very much secondary to the dilemma of which of the big guns to settle on. Bring on the practice sessions!
