Mumia's words cut deep, I can actually "feel" the spirit of his fear and terror in a country where, even today, you can be killed, walking down the street, or driving your car, or sitting in your home, while being black. I am over here in the Caribbean, a rainbow nation, where there is no such thing, and I can feel the terror!!! It is gut-wrenching and a stain on humanity!!!

Mumia is in a trap of his own making & he knows it. He thought back at that time that he would be in control of his defense/image. He did not know enough & he was wrong. Now the only thing that's kept him alive is the very legal system he thought he'd "work". He has tried everything but agood lawyer. Derschowitz & his "Innocence Project" wouldn't get involved. Now, why was that? His only hope has been his brother & he ain't talkin'. How does that happen? Was the man ever subpoenaed? You don't just walk away fron those. You do & there are APBs out for you all over the place. Yet abt the brother: nothing. You can't make a case that that wasn't on purpose. He's the only one who really KNOWS & he won't come forward to.get his "innocent" brother out if prison. He's either one of the most selfish, cowardly men who.ever lived or...
OR this was an agreed on strategy.
No Pennsylvania judge or governor will ever pardon or dismiss the charges on this guy. Their career would be over and they would have to move out of the state

So Jamal’s brother who witnessed everything has refused to testify on his brothers behalf. Either he got the worst brother ever or he did it.
That might be just it...why he wont say what happened...he is still innocent but wnt betray his brother. he should if this is indeed the case still be released...his brother's potential guilt is beside the point
They don't mention a WORD about the brother in this documentary, nothing. The silence is just deafening on that one and shows you how biased the producers of this were.

I dont know if he is guilty or not, but find it very strange that he does not say what took place that night. Even years later when this was filmed, he still would not say. All he says is that he is innocent of the charges.

I find it even stranger that his brother, who was right there and saw EVERYTHING, is not mentioned at all in this documentary. The silence on that is just deafening. His brother was right there, yet this documentary does not say ONE WORD about him.

Growing up, Mumia Abu Jamal scared me. To me, as a child, he looked like the Boogeyman. I remember when this documentary came out on HBO I couldn’t get around to watch it. The way this documentary was edited and put together was scary. But I finally watched this documentary in its entirety and it’s another example of a racist justice system wanting to put a black man behind bars for a crime he didn’t do.
Why didn't this documentary make one mention of his brother William seeing everything but never has uttered a word in Mumia's defense? Seems like his presence at the scene warrants a mention in this documentary. But it does not and I find that rather peculiar.
Mumia's brother was told not testify at this brothers trial by his lawyers. His brother is likely afraid of being killed by the cops who killed Faulkners real killer. As you well know cops get away with murder every day.

If his brother had come forward the police would have said they both did it. Come on y'all. Mumia used his radio forum to talk about police corruption and Mayor Frank Rizzo darn near everyday. suppose you walked up to a crime scene. there is a guy, shot once, next to his revolver with 5 empty casings in it, and another guy, shot several times who has a pistol with one empty casing. Any reasonable person would conclude that the most reasonable explanation was that these two people shot each other.
But the evidence does not support the logical conclusion. Something logical does not make it factual. Remember, the forensics do not support that the bullet found in the victim was fired from his gun.
@@alntr2872 that’s an incorrect statement. Factually, the bullet fragments in Officer Faulkner could not be conclusively identified as coming from Jamal’s gun, although they were able to conclude that identifying twists and grooves on the fragment were consistent with the Charter Arms .38 recovered and proven to be Jamal’s.
Logical thinking does apply. It’s the basis of evaluating circumstantial evidence.

Veronica Jones is a victim of the corruption as well. My heart goes out to her. I'm sure many of us would of done the same thing. I would like to believe that I wouldn't , however you don't know unless you're put that situation.

No wonder Jamal refused to recognise the "Judge". A fair trial was doomed from the start hiding any evidence of an acquital. Those police officers committed perjury...It's a dirty rotten shame.

All of us need to be in the street for Mumia's next hearing he is now 70 years old wasting away behind the wall the Philadelphia criminal justice system has committed an abortion of justice making it their business to try and kill Mumia by incarceration while Faulkner's killer continued to roam the streets as a pig what a shame Faulkner's wife and family didn't get justice at all and two families suffered a loss unnecessarily. Nobody won in this case. Again the criminal justice system failed it's citizens allowing Sabo to continue being a judge everyone who turned a blind eye to his behavior should be ashamed of themselves. Mumia will be free. Im not not saying one thing or the other, but go and look at pictures of people who definitely shot someone and research how they act, you might find Phil Spector and argue you are surprised he only had a killcount of 1. But then you find out Colonel Sanders Once Shot A Business Rival In A Gunfight Over A Sign. When it comes to the nature of how Jamal acts, go look at Ted Bundy, he has a vivid body languish and gestures with his hands like Jamal, he enunciates words like Jamal does, he comes of as if he is learned, as do Jamal. Bundy was somewhat erratic, but he is illustrating that he was capable to act not unlike Jamal. I want to make clear im not comparing the two beyond this point, Bundy was a pure monster. What im getting at, don't judge a book by it's cover, it is a cliche but the thing is cliches are a thing, because they get repeated and often times this is because they are true. So my opinion is does Mumia look like a killer? Sure he does, but so do we, he also look like someone who could be innocent. I think there are some red flags, as the gun that was found on the crime scene, the one belonging to Jamal, with spent cartridges, who would show up brandishing an empty gun under any of the alleged circumstances no matter what you believe, that is an odd thing to do. I have to reach to make that make sense. Then there are the thing with his brother everyone i bringing up... that's odd too, i have to reach again. The police where being goofs with collecting samples, when they did not find gunpowder residue it was not necessarily because none was present, just that it was not done, but lack of evidence is not evidence. Im having to reach again to make the story be true.
@excellenthealthandwealth wealth Dr. Hoyer testified at the 1995 PCRA Hearing and explained that his 1981 note merely reflected his speculation at what caliber the bullet might be, made when he first saw the wound and before he started the autopsy. The note was written on a piece of scrap paper, and was not a part of (and was never intended to be a part of) his professional findings. I think the fact that this documenty does not mention the brother, proves it to be somewhat bias, and the only source i have for the witnesses being coerced, is in fact this documentary and people who uses it as a factual source makes it problematic. I have however found compelling evidence against it.
I feel that Veronica Jones was telling the truth when she said she was offered a deal by the police. She was visibly shaken and teary eyed when she told her version of events. I didn't believe Jamal and I didn't necessarily believe the prosecutor either but I would bet the farm on what Veronica Jones said.

The confession story seems highly suspect and is contradicted by the physician who can attest to his medical condition at the time, aside from the fact that is sounds unbelievable that any suspect would brag about the shooting in a room full of police officers.

If Jamal got on top of the officer after he was shot, was his blood on the officers uniform? That seems to be important evidence. If a lot of his blood is on the uniform then that shows that he did get on top of the officer. If there is no blood on the uniform, it shows he wasn't on top of him.

I have one problem with this, how did Jamal get SHOT he had to be the shooter of The police Man, cause the police Man shot him also, and he's saying his brother was involved so what's going on
Veronica Jones is an incredibly brave woman, and that demon of a prosecutor and those scumlicking cops could not shake her conviction, no matter how hard they tried. What an inspiring woman.
I have no doubt in my mind that Mumia Abu-Jamal is an innocent man. The evidence presented by the defense, the evidence that was not permitted to be seen by the jury, as well as the new evidence that has come to light thanks to Amnesty International, proves it beyond a shadow of a doubt.
I’ve had my doubts about this case for years
The Police Story Don't Even Add Up At All
First of all, I think a judge that was a former member of The Shriners would likely have recused himself from presiding over a murder case involving one of the beloved mini-car drivers in a parade. Then, he hears the whole appellate process which would have required him to find his own courtroom somehow was out of order.
Secondly, the coroner wrote down .44 caliber for a reason. That reason is that he knew it was a .44. He then claimed he was not a gun expert. While this may true, any coroner in any major city is a projectile expert simply by the number of autopsies they perform on murder victims. The difference between a .38 and a .44 is large and noticeable. As a size comparison, if you tried to load a .38 bullet into a .44 caliber revolver, the .38 would fall right thru the chamber. It is Dirty Harry vs. Frank Cannon.
Third, arresting the gal on nothing charges after she changed her testimony is telling. That looked bad from every possible angle, yet the cops still did it. It spoke volumes of the PD's attitude of invincibility - no matter how obviously corrupt it looked - and was obviously a message to any other witnesses that would dare to come forward.
Fourth, the female witness with her address redacted, that was never contacted by the defense, and years later said she can't remember details. There are certain things that happen in one's life that they do not forget. Witnessing a murder ranks pretty high on that list. Maybe you forget a license plate #. Maybe the exact time on the clock. Perhaps the TV show you were watching. But you aren't forgetting what happened as you watched it go down, recounted it not only to police, but likely to scores of times to neighbors, friends, and maybe family over the years. And the thousands of times it has replayed in your head. Nope.

@@Cheersthewinners u have different witnesses that informed law enforcement and let them know that they saw the individual that shot the cop running away from the scene. Guy with dread locks ran from the scene. Mumia parked his cab and got out and asked the officer if he was alright. The officer saw Mumia had dreadlocks and noticed he was African American and assumed that Mumia was the guy that shot him, so he shot Mumia. They had to pin it on someone, this is back in 81 racial tension wasn't good. Plus Mumia participated in the positive black movement that stood up for the rights of blacks. They targeted him for that as well. The real killer is still out here while this innocent brother is suffering for a crime he did not commit! Free Mumia Now!

The 2 guys seen running from the scene were probably operatives of the Philadelphia Police Intelligence Division ... paid hitmen.
A number of dirty ass cops, in Philly, wanted Daniel Faulkner dead ... because he was working with the Feds, to expose them.
That's why Faulkner was killed. And former Philly Mayor, Frank Rizzo, knew who Mumia was, and had a vendetta against him.
During a press conference, in either 1979 or 1980, where Mumia was present, he asked Rizzo a very provocative question, about one of Rizzo's lies.
Apparently Rizzo, in response, looked directly at Mumia and said something like "We're going to get you. We're going to take you out."

The way this is going so far hes innocent and I can understand the judge not letting him represent himself if he was that articulate and highly intelligent then as he is now I can understand it he could have swayed a jury I hope he was released if he didn't do it
Once, while I was seeking care in an ER - after he had stood flat-footed and allowed a full-on assault by goons on his watch, an attending MD demurred under his breath to me, "Intelligence gets you into trouble." I had never met this man, nor had any prior interactions with anyone on his staff, under his watch, and gave them NO reason to have treated me with such disrespect, disdain, and hatred.
