CLIP DESCRIPTION:
A group of friends passing through a deserted Texas town are hunted down by demented killer with a chainsaw.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
One of the most infamous horror films of the 1970s is revisited in this remake produced by action-spectacle maven Michael Bay. In the summer of 1973, four teenagers -- Erin (Jessica Biel), Morgan (Jonathan Tucker), Kemper (Eric Balfour), and Andy (Mike Vogel) -- are driving through Texas on a road trip when they pick up a hitchhiker, Pepper (Erica Leerhsen), who is on her way to Mexico to score some dope. With Pepper adding to the party atmosphere, the other four decide to join her, but as they're passing through a small town in Travis County, they see a bloody and distraught girl (Lauren German) wandering by the side of the road, and after stopping to help her, they realize she's been involved in something horribly traumatic. As the kids try to help the girl piece together the story of what happened, they find themselves drawn into the web of a murderous family of subnormal cannibals. Inspired -- like the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Psycho, The Silence of the Lambs, and Deranged -- by the crimes of Wisconsin multiple murderer Ed Gein, this remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre also features narration by John Larroquette, who narrated the original film (it was his first screen credit), as well as supporting performances by R. Lee Ermey, Andrew Prine, and Andrew Bryniarski.

My favorite thing about this trailer is the old camera flash sound, with the editing, it's so chilling.
You know that is a tribute to the original right?
I suppose you mean the camera flash is a tribute to the original. See the thing is at the time when I saw this trailer in the theater, I wouldn't have know that, because I hadn't seen the original. I'm just pointing out that the editing in the theatrical trailer was fantastically done along with the sound design.
Gabrielle Mitchell both the camera and the weird sound. That's how the original opened with gruesome photos.
Gabrielle Mitchell and yes it is an awesome trailer good movie as far as remakes go.
Gabrielle Mitchell mines the chainsaw wen everything went quiet I swear the first time I seen this I acc nearly pissed myself wen I heard the chainsaw 😂
by far the BEST horror movie remake ever........
+Edgar- O hell yes! i like this better than the original
agreed
+Jacob Lucero the original is a peace of shit. I don't understand why people like it.... Most people are just fan boys
Really? Better than The Thing(1980) or The Fly(1986)? Okay then...
Yiorgios Vazouras those movies are amazing they make it to my top 5 horror remakes
This is one of those rare remakes that live up to the original
Exactly why I love it
Definitely a great remake. The actors were amazing. R Lee Ermy was amazing! Jessica beil was hot AF!
I don’t think it did I just remember being bored in it
Evil Dead Remake
The Ring remake
Still one of the best horror movie remakes of all time. This one is so dark, oppressive and uncompromising. And the soundtrack...just perfect.
Facts. A great horror movie remake.
@@calmguy4179 I respect your opinion. For me it was a really good movie compared to the other remakes.
@UCGaN_A9lwCpnAxAhcemMifA Remakes are made for money. Sequels are a good idea but they sometimes complicate the universe of the film
A fine example of how horror movies should be. It just sends shivers down your spine!
One of the best movie remakes. id say even better than original
@@XXXTENTACIONTHEGOATyea it's better than the original to some. The original can make you nauseated with the camera work. The scene where the camera goes in circles is a perfect example..
Hands down one of the best horror trailers ever put together for a remake. I remember this trailer starting in the theatre and when it got the dark part and all you could hear was breathing, foot steps and screaming, then suddenly the chainsaw, everyone in the threate leaped out of their seats and screamed like hell. Never really saw that kind of reaction with a movie trailer before. It was awesome. Everyone was hyped after that.
I love this comment because I remember a similar reaction to this trailer as well, and it was almost 20 years ago!! Now watching it with adult eyes is not that creepy and the movie definitely does not surpass the original which is just mind blowing but it is a pretty decent remake.
@@TheChecharrua the original is a horrible movie,I love old movies and the original TCM is the worst movie ever, just overall bad
@@SRBOMBONICA86 this is objectively false.
Saw this trailer in a sold out show before Freddy Vs Jason and EVERYONE was going crazy. That was a great year for horror
I saw this at 12 with my cousin in the theaters.i remember the trailer like it was yesterday.this was a amazing time for horror
This trailer should be studied in film classes and marketing classes. I remember seeing the trailer in theaters and it was so haunting and mesmerizing without giving anything away. I was hooked on the movie at this point.
The trailer is better than the movie
The music is so great it should be taken for s bloodborne trailer
Amen to that!
😃
Hello
when it said "based on a true story" I almost crapped my pants.
but it isn't. they just said that as a marketing gimmick
Yeah mostly he was a grave robber, but he did kill two women (at least those were the only two the police were aware of). He also made the "skin suit" complete with mask hence Leatherface in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
dwip it said "inspired", not "based". This is a big, big difference.
Just another ARMY. Thats fucked up
ed gein was the inspiration for both leather face and wild bill from silence of the lambs
I remember back in 03 when this came out in the cinema, a lot of people walked out in horror half way through it cos they couldn't stomach it lmao, one of the best remakes of all time.
Its funny when you think about it.
You just bought a ticket for a movie called
THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE.
What did you expect?
SNOW WHITE?
The movie is not so gory at all (except the headshot scene)
I walked out because it bored me to sleep and sucked harder than a Tijuana prostitute on a Friday.
@@deacongowan909 yeah it sucks like a trashguy
Deacon Gowan 😂😂😂😂😂
I remember I watched this because my sister and her boyfriend were watching it and I was in like 3rd grade. I'm 16 now and to this day I'm scarred by this movie and the sounds of chainsaws make me cringe. THATS what a real horror movie should be able to do. I've grown to really love horror movies and it's too bad there aren't anymore like this. :/
I agree
u suck
Well said 👍
are they still together ?your sis and her bf
Alexa Kelly lol you should watch the original
I love the cinematography of this film. Very RAW and life like. The essences of saturation is also very memorable. The lighting, composition, and audio were also excellent. A MUST for HORROR fans.
+D'Amato Studios (DAmatoStudios) How would you compare it with the original?
***** I prefer remakes in most cases only if they don't use CGI. Haven't seen the original one in this case so I might check it out.
***** Ok, thanks!
+D'Amato Studios (DAmatoStudios) I agree, almost like a David Fincher movie.
+Don D'Amato The original is a classic. This remake is typical, Michael Bay hackneyed garbage.
This was actually an excellent remake. There was still a dirty, grittiness feel to it.
THE BEST HORROR ALL OF TIME
And fears
This version of Leatherface is by far the most psychotic and vicious ever.
For real. The first movie Leatherface was more like a child defending his home, 2nd was like a teen hitting puberty and wanting to have fun, 3rd is more a teenage angst, 4th was...ugh. When that girl told that cry baby Leatherface to shut up and sit down, Leatherface obliged. I feel like if she said that to this Leatherface, he won’t take that like lightly and goes to the throat in a vicious way.
To me that’s what I didn’t like about the film. He was supposed to be like a child as in the original . Just my opinion
@@demetriospappas1112 sim porque até mais ele e doente mental
@@demetriospappas1112 I agree. This film was okay in its own way, but that’s not what Leatherface was originally about. He even had a different name.
@@demetriospappas1112 Honestly I prefer this way ,I like this badass leather face more than child....
y.Its different ,but the movie is dark tonish ,see it's a remake, not all things need to be same, it's stand on its own way.I really liked this portrayal of leather face way more grounded it's different but unique and menacing in its own way..
Kids now can't understand how much this trailer shook us
Who cares what kids think! 😂
Whatever I'm gonna enjoy watching this in bathroom farting and peeing everywhere.
I still to this day can not figure out why so many people disliked this film, I remember when I first heard about it, I thought that the idea of remaking one of greatest horror films ever made and one of my personal favorites seemed like a pointless task, I thought this was going to be nothing more than a crappy carbon copy of the original like the pointless remake of Psycho from 98 but opening night came, I sat in a packed theatre and was surprised at how shocking, brutal, intense and disturbing this film was, it was so unnerving that I literally had an anxiety attack in theatre, with all the bad remakes that have come along over the years as well as bad Michael Bay/Platnumdunes films and Texas Chainsaw Massacre films this one still holds up really well in my opinion as a good film on its own merits, perhaps the word remake is what sets it back for people but the plot is faithful to original without the film being a lame rehash of the original and after all the campy sequels that followed the original this one finally made Leatherface and his story scary again and deserves way more credit.
One of the best genre remakes with The Blob, The Fly, Dawn of the Dead, Hills Have Eyes etc. eh?
***** Yea I would say its up there.
shadow face
There's also Cat People and Maniac and The RIng which are good.
Although The Thing is often mistaken as a remake of the earlier film called The Thing from Another World from 1951, it's actually rather a separate adaptation of the original 1938 book and a more faithful adaptation.
***** Yea I think Cat People is a very stylish but very flawed remake in my opinion, I prefer the original to it, I have not seen Maniac yet mainly because I'm not a fan of the original but have heard good things about it, I agree The Ring is a good remake and yes I remember reading that about The Thing, I enjoy the 1950s version but enjoy the 1982 film more, many people also claim the 2011 film to be a prequel rather than a remake but I never understood why as it is called simply The Thing and is practically the same story but with a female lead instead and I don't remember there being anything to really indicate it being a prequel other than people arguing that it was.
shadow face the first half as really good the last half was too cliched, she running in the rain in her tank top, and running from leather face straight into a meat locker.
*"Ohhhh, My, My, My, My, Myyyy!"*
That part always kinda creeped me out 😨😰
Despite All My Rage Me too and even more before I actually watched the movie because this is a bit confusing when you haven’t seen it yet you don’t know that the entire family is composed of nutcases. I thought she was the Chainsaw killer 😂 lol. But correct me if I’m wrong I always thought, she said: Oh, Ma, Ma, Ma, Ma, but thinking about it, it would make more sense if she said Oh my.

The success of this spawned the early 2000’s remakes of Halloween, Friday The 13th, & A Nightmare on Elm Street. But this was the only one that was actually scary.
This trailer is so iconic. That flashing camera part. Geez 👌
Its crazy to me to know that so many people felt similarly to how i felt about this trailer back then. It definitely left a lasting impression on folks. Back when fhis came out, youtube didnt exist and the only people i really talked about this with was my friends at the time, so outside of my circle, i didnt really know how general audiences felt about it.
Exactly. People of a certain age of young adults. This just happened to be what was in theaters then. And boy, were we lucky to have it.
I watched this trailer hundreds of times when it came out lol. What an underrated movie in general. Extremely well made, shocking, twisted, unpredictable, intense, disturbing... Definitely checks all of the boxes.
I was 12 years old sitting waiting for freddy vs jason to start.....and I will never forget this master piece of a trailer. To this day, this is probably one of the best trailers for one of the best horror films ever made. Nostalgia asf
YO. Same. Was at FvJ and fell in love with this remake
I was 11 seeing FVJ and seen this trailer and fell in love with it!
Me too I was 14 and they showed this trailer before the freddy vs jason movie I was excited seeing this they didn't show to much of leather face until he closed that door that's when you saw a glimpse of him and everybody in my theater was cheering
Wow I was 12 too in the theatre my aunt took me to go see Freddy vs Jason cuz she knew I was a big Freddy fan
This is the greatest trailer of the 2000s horror remake age. When that music kicks in with the camera flashes and he slams the door.....EPIC.
Wrong turn , Texas Chainsaw massacre , Saw and The Hills Have Eyes are iconic horror movies
The sound design at 1:31 was so trippy to hear in theaters! To this day that moment in a dark theater has always been stuck in my mind. Bravo to the trailer editor! 👏👏👏 10/10 SOLID TRAILER
One of the fewest and rarest horror remakes that can be as great as the original. I remember I was quite young when I saw this and it terrified me. Awesome trailer
You ok honey?
😁🔪😃🙏
I almost can't believe this is about to be twenty years old.
20years old & still 100times better than horror movies from 2022/2023
@@XXXTENTACIONTHEGOAT I've barely watched two new movies lately so there could've been something released that's better than this that I just haven't found 🤷♀️
Idc about then vs now comparisons, they're annoying af, no offense. Horror was garbage in the 2000s as well. The vast majority of the genre is garbage.
What I loved most about this trailer was it's short and to the point; it didn't reveal too much of the film.
That's what trailers should do! Entice you into wanting to see the film without revealing key moments.
Now we have 4 to 5 minute trailers that pretty much show the climatic parts of the film.
Still one of my favorite horror movies of all time.
Saw this when it first came out. Absolutely brilliant.
Istill have the DVD with the soundtrack "suffocate" such a Great movie
I saw it about 3 years ago I think its the best TCM movie
Jessica Biel was rocking an absolute banger of a body in this.
Totally faultless perfection.
All these years later she still is!! I loved in in The Sinner. It's a USA Network series but it's also on Netflix. Highly recommended.
Yes she was so good in Texas!!👏
This trailer is so well-made. Wow!
Vcc
This is still in my Top 3 favorite trailers of all-time. Awesome editing and music choices.
Mine too! I didn't realize anyone else thought this was a fantastic movie trailer. I'm getting my Master's in film, and I often hear (from my peers) the Blair Witch trailer being one of the best, but this one is def in my top 10. Mainly because they did so much with very little. There's not a ton of special FX and they don't reveal the entire story, so it does leave room for curiosity.
In the words of Meatloaf "You took the words right out of my mouth". I completely agree with you.
Do you know what song is playing at the beginning?
3? What are they?
Does anyone know the second song used or what movie soundtrack it’s on ?
Theres something about this trailer that makes it so memorable. I think its the music, the shots used and the transition from calm to terrifying.
Best horror remake of all time. Not as great as the original but it's damn good.
Yes, Damn it, yes😉
+David French Matt Damon*
+TheBlues32 so true, disgraced a classic and to top it off has it's own even lamer sequel
To me The Blob was
this remake is actually 100 times more scary than original
Some remakes need to be left alone, but this one is the best remake in history. They knew exactly what they were doing when they made this movie. Great job producers and director
I love a trailer where you don't know exactly what it is until about halfway through. Same with the Godzilla 2014 teaser.
This was the first horror movie i saw. I was 13 and it traumatized me for months, but eventually made me a lover of horror films.
Was it based on a true story ?
Jessica Biel in her finest craft
I solemnly agree! :)

I still remember watching this trailer at a screening of "Freddy Vs. Jason"
Interessante
I remember being in the theater watching freddy vs jason
Yes! Freddy vs Jason came out Summer 2003 and TCM remake came out October 2003
And I loved Freddy vs Jason too. Yeah that happened to me too

@Shinshocks both are good, i personally prefer the remake version, it’s darker.
@Shinshocks well, i mean the remake from 2003 and 2006, yes, the original from ‘74 is classic and it’s very good, but the leatherface version of the remake is much darker and more violent for me. The others movies from 2013 and 2017 yes, are bad, but 2003 and 2006? 10/10
One of the horror remakes that actually lived up to the hype! This movie gave me chills when I first watched it
Don't feel sorry for these college kids, they are going to ace that "What I did during Summer break" essay.
They can all tell their sad sob story.
Well, one of them will anyway
😂😂😂
Who the hell is going to believe such story 😂
This trailer: *starts happy*
The second half: it’s picture time
Definitely one of the best remakes of all time saw it in theaters in November of 04, and have seen it hundreds of times over the years 1 true horror classic that never gets old. Also in my opinion I believe Jessica Biel plays one of the best final girls in horror movie history in this iconic role... Great work by everybody involved
You probably mean you saw it in theaters in 2003 in November because it would of been out of the theaters in 2004 because this movie came out in October 2003
The best horror movie remake. Ever. 🔥♥️
No doubt better than Friday The 13th or Halloween 🔥
@@Young-M The new Evil Dead was good aswell
I do absolutely love & respect the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and acknowledge everything it did to help pave the way for countless horror films after it (especially the slashers). But if I had a gun to my head & had to pick either the original or the remake, I'm personally going with the remake. It just did everything right to me. Brutal, surprisingly well-acted from the entire cast, Leatherface was at his most terrifying, and I just love the overall look/aesthetic of it. Also this is how you do a trailer. SHOW A LITTLE BIT, NOT EVERYTHING TO THE POINT OF SPOILING IT! 🤘😊
Watched this at a special 1AM showing in the cinema. Only around 8 people in total watched it. Walking to the car with my friends after the movie was the scariest moment of my life.
This and the original were awesome! The newest Netflix one is absolutely terrible! 😭

Even though people hate Michael Bay I LOVE him for this. It loved the original, I love this remake and I will always love it! Thanks!
I agree really good movie
The fact that they got John Lauroquette to come back and read the opening prologue like he did in the original film was fantastic.
Did you know that for the original, the only payment he asked for to do it was a joint?
And Daniel Pearl the cinematographer
Take notes. This is how a trailer should be made.
I just finished the 2022 , i didn't knoww they have another storyy . I read some of the comments, they said that 2003 is the best so I gonna watch it TONIGHT 😖😖😖😖
You wanna watch it with me?

Idk why but something about this version just worked so damn well
They don't make horror movies like this no more end of an era
One of the best horror remakes and trailers in horror movie history!!!
If only all the other horror remakes had been as good as this one
Without a doubt one of my favorite horror movies. And I consider this to be the greatest horror remake of all time, it truly lives up to the original. And that is very rare, the cinematography is absolutely brilliant. When I found out that it was based on a true story, it creeped me the hell out. Particularly the camera sounds and flashes. I first saw this movie when I was 10 years old, not only did it scared me but I always said that the Jessica Biel version was the best out of all the remakes or sequels.
Stills one of the best horror trailers. Even in 2020! Holds up!
the song is called Song to the Siren

UPPPPPP
@Logan Parks Mortal Coil does the full version of the song. The track as performed in the trailer was just a 30 second cover commissioned by the trailer company. Nothing more than that.
One of my favourites! I will never forget the first time I saw this film!
I remember the first time I saw this trailer in a theater, it's perfect. Those camera sounds and the part with sound only. Great stuff.

I remember watching this on our local tv channel, it scared me and this mvie is so intense and thrilling. One of the best thriller/horror movie ive seen
Remakes are ALL bullshit. This is a rare case when it isn't.
+Odisseu de Ítaca I can sort of agree some remakes are good though, this, The Hills Have Eyes, The Last House on the Left, Maniac, I spit on your Grave and Friday the 13th were really good Halloween wasn't too bad either, but there have been some really shitty ones such as Poltergeist, A Nightmare on Elm Street and Children of the Corn they were awful they need to leave classics alone, but we all know that will never happen
swayziee xclusive Sorry, but I disagree with everything. Friday The 13th was awful. There was no Jason's back story, nothing at all from the franchise. It's pretty obvious that they used the franchise's name for a quick buck like "put Jason killing some teen models and that's fine". I felt offended and I feel offended that people like you encourage this kind of shit.
The Hills Have Eyes may be the most promising of your list, but it still doesn't hit the novelty mark of the original. Again, a quick buck. I Spit on Your Grave is a tone down from the original, less impact, cleaner violence, less feminine and less offensive. The original capitalized on the idea of being indulgent with the watcher of doing to the rapists what you wanted to happen to them, for, in the end, showing that YOU, the spectator, ARE THE RAPIST. They're not even subtle about it. You raped the girl and you killed the rapists. You as bad as all of them. But in the remake, all that is gone, only a superficial take on a "Rape-and-Revenge" classic.
Last House on the Left is totally balls. The first comes for a shock and it's still shocking. The remake is a laughable attempt to make it "big budget". It's an unnecessary movie that should have never been made.
Nightmare, Poltergeist and Children are, indeed, shitty.
But Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a totally different story. They make all needed references to the original and invent on them. The movie is stylish and beautiful. There's a lot going on and The Beginning is even more stylish. They clearly knew what they were going for, aesthetically and cinematographly.
Want a remake better then the original? (I warn you, nobody agrees with me on this one, but I know I'm right)...... 12 Angry Men. The 1997 remake surpasses the original in almost every regard. In the original every men is white, almost all in the same age and social class. In the remake there are 4 black men in the jury, a rich guy, a guy from the slums (that really look like that he came from the slums), older and younger people, ignorant and intelligent, prejudiced and respectful... just nails it. There's a social discussion, there's the ethnic discussion, there's the law debate... just perfect.
Wanna know which movie I'd like to see remade, only to see them shit all over it? Cannibal Holocaust.
Odisseu de Ítaca Na it's kool you can disagree everyone is entitled to an opinion some people hate the remakes some love them it is what it is and yeah Cannibal Holocaust i can't actually see that being one they will remake and i bloody hope not as well that needs to be left well alone, everything is about money nower days which is why they keep doing it and will continue to do so, likeeee Scarface which they are making as we speak like seriously come on they just know people will spend money to see it and that's all it's about it really annoys me, they are seriously out of ideas, the only unique horror film that took me by complete surprise was Sinister but they will probably remake that in a couple of years lol madness!
swayziee xclusive You're shitting me. Scarface is getting a remake???? They couldn't leave it alone, even considering that the Brian De Palma is already a remake??
Odisseu de Ítaca Yeah i swear to god Scarface is being done it's crazy isn't it there is no way in hell they will be able to pull this one off it will be a massive fail!
Can’t believe this movie came out in 2003 when I was 16. Gosh I miss 2000’s
Such a good remake, better than the original. Is not just a copycat from the OG.
I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked this movie. The original is one of my favorite horror movies of all time. And for years I was afraid to see this movie because I thought it would ruin the original for me. But it's actually really really good. They did an amazing job at making a scary psychological horror movie that doesn't rely on blood, guts or nudity to make it entertaining. Obviously this was the only movies Platinum Dunes actually cared about and took there time on.
i don't know why this TCM remake gets a bad rap. i've seen all of them and this one was, by far, the best remake. from the twisted, exagerrated appearances of the family members to the opening seen where it pans through the shotgun wound in the hitchhiker's head to the scene where the guy with the goatee is being skinned alive in the basement, even the foreboding appearance of the house and the creepy grandfather screaming "what the hell are you doing in my house?!"...everything about this remake is on point.
La mejor versión de masacre de texas.. No me canso de verla y todavía me sigue dando escalofríos!
Still one of The best horror remake 👌🏽 the plot and the cinematography was another level 🖤
I was 17 and terrified when I saw this for the first time. I woke up screaming the next morning because our gardener started the leaf blower outside my window.
You're lucky. When I was 7. This movie came out. My cousin made me watch this.
I have a very bad dream after that movie. But it's just a movie lol
unpopular opinion but I like this movie more than the original.
Not really unpopular. I feel like a lot of people love this movie & 2006 version, more than the original movie
Greatest horror film of all time. Like some other people have commented, I also don't understand how this movie didn't get the credit it so deserved. Reason why all horror films these days seem to disappoint most people: the acting could not be more "cheesier" (Example IMO: Hayden P.). Second biggest reason: producers think the more gore you add in your movie, the better? This logic makes zero sense -- personally, I liked the first, MAYBE second Saw movie, but after that they just became difficult for me to stomach/ watch.. But it is almost like ever since the Saw franchise (and since it grew so big), it's as if it has made every horror film producer to this day think that you can hire mostly C or D list celebs, add as much gore as possible, and then you will have a good horror film ... WRONG. It's sad because horror films used to be my FAVORITE type of film, but now it's hard to even find a movie out there to watch that comes close to being a "horror film". 😢
Better than the original
Not even close! haha. Although this is, actually, a guilty pleasure of mine!!
one of the best horror remakes EVER!
This film traumatised me as a kid.
Wait til you meet me
Same
You and Cody leach
This is one of the better horror remakes I've seen. The cinematography is underrated.
This is probably one of the most well made horror movie trailers I’ve seen in a while
I love the music score for the trailer.
This was a great remake. Very well made.
