Tortu (9.99/20.10) looked so smooth & easy running that 20.14 (+0.9) that made it look like his 1st sub 20s was inevitable, definitely due a season where he runs a couple of 9.9s & 19.9s! EUR M200m needs the likes of Zharnel, Tortu, Ryan Zeze, Hartmann, Mateo, Desalu, Reais & Mumenthaler competing more often against each other to help lift the standard!
That's not the official clock on the screen. It's just a hand-timed estimate for the audience watching. They didn't add anything to that clock since it's not connected to the timing system at all. The laser/infrared speed gates they use are far more accurate. I have some cheap speed gates myself and have tested them.
@iamantonio6110 34 isn't very old though. For reference, the current fastest 200m time for a 34 year old (at least according to Masters rankings) is 19.75 by Justin Gatlin back in 2016 (he also ran 9.80 secs in the 100m which is the fastest at that age too). I wasn't expecting Guliyev to run sub 20 at all but I was hoping he'd have a solid run. Idk his health situation if he's been injured or dealing with something but I just haven't seen him be competitive in years. A 20.5 would've been solid for him in my opinion. 20.87 didn't even get him in the finals in Europe. That's 1.1 secs slower than his PB.
@@gmaxsfoodfitness3035 Justin Gatlin is the exception not the norm! It's extremely rare to see Male sprinters in their mid-to-late 30s still running very competitive times, but would've expected Ramil to still be running in the 20.2 - 20.5 range as well.

Afrifah hasn't been the same since his U20 200m title.

Father Time remains undefeated! He's now 34yrs old, basically had his peak from 25-30yrs old between '15-'19, hasn't run sub 20.2s since '19.
Old age
