Just curiouse the 18650’s have like some kind of shutoff so if there is to much drain or short the battery shuts down like a fuse ? & thats diectly in the middle ? Thats y u stay away from center? Have wanted to build my own packs with spoting but have just ended up useing packs pre built & not running the proper voltage so end up loosing cells & replacing but never doing a nice job like this just taping the strips on the battery’s i know its not rite id like to learn the proper way👍
If you look at the datasheet for your battery, they'll tell you exactly where to spot weld onto the terminals. But yes, you're pretty much correct; you want to avoid welding directly in the middle because of the safety vents / pressure relief valves they incorporate into the batteries.
