Banuka is the one of a kind batsman whom we have never seen in Sri Lanka cricket who comes to field and hit the ball like no problem at any stage of the game. Power Hitter
He looks really mature, could be even the best mature guy in the team. His language is pretty good. As far as I am aware his cricket batting skills are also far ahead of many who are in the national team. I remember, once Wasim Akram said that he is a mixture of Sangakkara and Sanath Jayasooriya in his batting. Only sad thing is SLC groomed ponies instead of horses. Best of luck Bhanuka
Bhanuka is my favorite player, the style of cricket he plays without wasting balls reminds me of Kaluwitharana & getting in to the game swiftly and going in to shots but those massive nuclear reactor chernobyl strikes gives me mini heart attacks, some shots goes over to the opposition fielder with just one bounce බුදු අම්මො යකො තව පොඩ්ඩෙන් අවුට් වෙනවා නෙ... I wish if he could be more calculated, clinical with the same destructiveness at the same time. එහෙනම් සුපිරි කොල්ලා!
In 2011, he was the next big thing in SL Cricket. Then he dissapeared. People refer to him as a big hitter nowadays but only people like us know he is a classy batsmen.
Cool & calm character . Reminds me great mahela jayawardane. Not only his accent but also his cricketing shots. Bhanuka is the very natural player same like mahela. A sweet timer of the ball. no hard hitting just timing glad to watch . Unfortunately he didnt get enough chances like mendis. As a result we lost a superb left hand batsman after sangakkara.
@@binukandagedon6710 no he was amazing at that level but international cricket is different..You have to put hardyards to succeed..he wasn't even physically fit till recently. Even banu admitted it he just thought it 'll be a walk in the park to play at senior level but it wasn't..Also there are lot of issues with his technique which doesn't get exposed at junior levels
@@randuladeshan2390 nope..Mendis is far superior..For tests there is no even a comparison..I don't think there is anyone in slc or coaching staff that believes BK is better than Mendis. Kusal Mendis is Sri Lanka's best batsman. Anyway both of them are Good enough to become premier odi players in world i hope it 'll happen soon..For tests bk has to improve his technique drastically and I can't see that happening given that he is almost 30now
the best power hitter at any situation for srilanka..unfortunately wasn't picked in his early twenties or Mids. anyway here is bhanuka finally at his thirties....
All I can say is you got the talent...Be selective of your shot selection. If you could bat 15 overs in a match...all I can say is Aba saranai for the opposition.
Bhanuka Rajapakshe promised so much as a schoolboy cricketer representing the Royal College, and as part of Under-19 team too. But he couldn't maintain the same level/standard of consistency & flair after graduating from the school/Under-19 cricket to the first class cricket, despite some occasional brilliance. Just check his overall first class and List A records. Despite his high strike rate, the level of consistency had never been that great at all. A first class average in low 30s and a list A average in mid 20s after almost 100 innings batting at the top in each format had been the norm during the first 6-7 years of his senior cricket, not the sort of credentials one would have liked from a top order batsman vying for a place in the national side. In comparison to this, his school mate Kithuruwan Withanage performed remarkably well in first class cricket and as part of Sri Lanka A team too over the same period 2010-2015/16 bringing the attention of the national selectors, yet he too had been responsible for his downfall since then at the senior grade due to his lack of focus and sheer indiscipline. By 2015/16, Vithanage had been averaging 50+ with an 80+ strike rate in first class cricket scoring 3000+ runs too. He performed remarkably well as part of Sr Lanka Presidents XI and A teams too, scoring 160+ against the touring Englishmen in 2012/13 or so, and making 3 outstanding centuries representing Sri Lanka A side in New Zealand too in 2015/16. Yet he couldn't maintain the same level of focus & temperament whenever he was given the chance at the international level. Despite his solitary attacking hundred made against Bangladesh, his performances lacked the level of consistency one would have liked and was banned for 1 year due to indiscipline after which he never fully recovered at all. To his credit though, the selectors are to be blamed too in his case, at least to a certain extent. Despite scoring 3 outstanding hundreds against New Zealand A on their own soil batting at no.03 in 2015/16, he had been still slotted lower down at no.07 in the national side when they toured New Zealand only a month or so down the line, even after the likes of Milinda Siriwardena, which seems to be not a fair treatment at all as Vithanage had been primarily a top order batsman and his performances which brought him back into the side had all been at no.03. Now, his performance at even the first class level has faded quite considerably, yet averages 40 though which is still more respectable compared to that of Bhanuka's .... However, the unluckiest player in the younger crop in terms of not getting any chance at the national level despite performing exceptionally well at the first class level has been none other than Pathum Nissanka who continues to average in mid 60s with a pretty decent strike rate too; a record head and shoulders above the rest despite his relatively smaller build. Then, in the past too, we had the likes of Chamara Silva, Indika De Seram, Saman Jayantha, etc. who could have ended up being much better players at the international level had they been nurtured properly by the selectors and the team management. They had the talent in abundance, batted with great flair, had pretty decent techniques too. Though all 3 of them got some chances then & there, none of them were given a proper run at a top/middle order slots which they deserved in terms of opportunities in a country where the likes of Jehan Mubaraq, Thirimanna, Kaushal SIlva & Kapugedara simply got far more opportunities than what they actually deserved. So, in general, Sri Lanka as a nation, are not so good at spotting one's true talent/potential & nurturing/polishing it properly. In certain cases, the particular individuals too seem to be not fully committed & focused to the task. So, as a nation, we tend to waste many of them in the end. It's a common factor which prevails in any sector here in Sri Lanka, the sports and the game of cricket in particular has been no exception ....
Kusal Mendis may not be the captain material but he is without a doubt Sri Lanka's number 1 batting talent by a mile..everyone who knows cricket knows it..It's ridiculous the amount of hate he gets in social media mainly from people who doesn't even follow the game
Banuka’s english style looks smiler to mayya

Very smart bhanuka ❤️
Underrated player. I have seen him playing under 19 world cup and not seen him afterwards.
He was one of the best in the world when playing under 19, but unfortunately didn't put the hard yards to play at senior level..
Really calm character than
