      Masshole I live here in Japan. And while people are friendly, don’t get it twisted. There is a lot of discrimination against foreigners. It is really easy to get arrested, deported, or imprisoned here.

    That's crazy. The question is, how bad was the fight? Did anyone get hurt? Is the person he fought in jail too? I suppose before throwing out suggestions for help, maybe we should know the full story. He sounds like a solid guy, but we need answers!

      Tony Jones The story is that he was being harassed at a bar to take a photo with some local. When he refused they got angry and started throwing bottles and glasses at him. One of the guys tried to attack him and he defended himself, afterwards he was apprehended and taken to jail. A year after his detention his case came up for review, where the Chinese aggressor in the situation admitted fault, however the judge decided to continue holding him jail.

      Tony Jones the only person injured was a lady at the bar, after being struck by one of the glass bottles being thrown at Wendell. Officials did not take her statement when they arrested Wendell, and the attacker(s) are not facing any charges.

      Moon glow I read the article......"Racism is rampant in China"...."where prosecutors enjoy a 99 percent conviction rate, according to Amnesty International research."........remember that we(US and China) may have different system, but you can't use such prejudice view......

    • @huangsimon935
      @huangsimon935 6 лет назад +1

      Moon glow....be aware that China is big country with 1.4B people, and GuangZhou is just a city in China, if you pick up some sample, then you must list some data to show that all 1.4B Chinese are Racism, you can't pick 1 or 2 cases then said "Racism is rampant in China", that will be a insult....
      The Africans in GuangZhou are not legal immigrant, if their visa overdue, then the police has right to check and put them into custody and wait for repatriate..(which US and all other country will do the same thing).
      For Wendell, no matter he is white or black America....if he is in China, he need to abide China law(even the law system is different with US, we follow continental law system)...and in his case, since we don't have so call "unlimited defense" in China, if someone want to pick up a fight, the best solution is call the police(which means the one who threw the bottle will put into jail for 5~15 days&fine RMB500~1500), Wendell chose to punched the man's eye out, it will consider as "serious injury, level II", it will lead 3~10 years in prison...if Wendell chose "settled out of court", he may get probation.....but seems Wendell or his attorney don't aware about this....
      Again, this is not about racism....it is about "law&justice".
