The fender version of this bass has been my main since I got it new 5 years ago. They launched the squire version at the same time. But I’m pretty sure it launched with the less unusual master vol, pickup blend, active bass boost/cut, active treble boost/cut controls. I don’t know when they switched out to the control layout on yours, but I believe it’s the same as the squire vintage modified special jaguar basses, so I’d presume the same year they launched them? (We only started getting them in Australia a couple of years ago but I think they launched before that?). Anyway, I can’t find the old specs on a quick search but I’m seem to remember other than the hardware and controls, the squire launched with the exact same specs as the fender. I remember looking last year into the new specs and it was basically the squire vintage modified jaguar bass special, just in Troy’s silverburst (plus logos and the such). As for when they discontinued it, I noticed it drop off the fender site last year, but was still seeing the occasion one in the shop here in Aus, so my guess would be start of 2017? So anyway that’s my 5cents. Great vids man, I always enjoying watching your product highlights like this vid.
Fender did the same thing to Frank Bello and his signature bass. They didn't have it out on display at a NAMM show or something, he got pissed and went back to ESP.
I’ve heavily modified mine and installed emg geezer butler pickups, a fender high mass bridge, Schaller machine heads and a mirror pick guard. I love it!
You should do a video about peter Steele’s bass and the set up he uses for it in my opinion that would be really cool especially for how much of a type o negative fan I am thanks and have a good one 👌
recently put a pair of Seymour Duncan quarter pounds in mine and it sounds massive. That being said those stock pickups did me just fine for the first few years I had the bass.
Cool video I have the squier vintage modified jaguar special bass looks like the same electronics are used here and great insight on how those electronics work and how unique the tones you can get are that thing can shake the windows
I love my Squier Jag bass! It isn't the Troy Sanders signature because they're so hard to find, but it's still an amazing bass. I have a set of D'addario 50-120s on it tuned to drop C and it plays beautifully. In the lower tunings the bass boost can be too much though. Anything passed half way is far too muddy, but it's still a cool feature. Love the videos by the way.
I've seen Troy play both the Squier and Fender versions, so it must be pretty boss. Besides Mastodon being my fave band, Troy's taste in basses is pretty perfect. Also don't Reverends have a bass contour control? Not quite the same as the bass boost but similar.
So...I bought this bass in 2015 for my son and I paid $239 for it. I believe that the MSRP was $269-$299. They seemed to dry up after this point so I was glad to purchase it. I believe this model was made in 2013 only. Troy has claimed to have used the Squier version of his signature model on stage...
Such a shame you cant find these anymore anywhere, planning to buy the fender version but i would pretty much pick this one for the price alone. Maybe in the US, its easier to find them but in eastern europe they are as rare as unicorns.
I had an epiphone tobias 5 string with basically the same electronics. An overall tone and an active bass boost. personally hated it. I had to constantly check the volume of the boost so I didn't fart out everywhere.
Hey man! I´ve been following your channel and your band since a few months ago, you have a killer sound and your playing is great. BUT, I have seen that in a lot of your videos, you make every bass sound preetty much the same. I have also owned a few of the basses you have played at your videos, and I think that your processing chain gives a lot of color to the basses. Why won´t you try to plug them direct, for us to have a more realistic view of the instrument?
I have the same problem with Mr. Excane’s bass videos. Plus the fact he uses an active bass, that behaves different with a lot of distortion/fuzz pedals. But I think it also has to do with demoing pedals with the same personal playing style. It rather see more different styles of playing that fit the sounds of a pedal. It would showcase the pedals better. :)
Hey Pat. Thanks for using your personal time to make these videos for us to listen to and watch I appreciate it. Without guys like you putting in countless hours and money for the reviews we wouldn’t have them. We all know 90% of the people are too lazy to do it for themselves and would rather just complain
Take it easy, man. I´m not complaining, in fact, I love the style of Patrick and I´m a huge follower of Pseudo Future. I was only expressing my own personal opinion about his bass demo videos. Relax, dude ;)
But for real though, why is there like NO info on this bass and why did they discontinue it?!

I think it was bad marketing, there was only one ad made for it and no one really talked about it 👎🏼 but its great indeed

Fender anounced the bass troy sanders used in some shows and 6 months later he become spector endorser lol
Because of quality
i wish youtubers review stuff the way you do. straight to the point, quick and honest. thanks for this! keep it up!

Is it any way to turn it into a passive bass?? I'm afraid I won't like the active circuit
It’s basically a vintage modified jag bass but with block inlays, painted headstock, and the silver burst
Just like that, the new Fender Troy Sanders signature bass is announced in 2023!
Great review. My only complaint is...
You didn’t play any Mastodon with it!!!
Your videos are getting better every time. Love your channel!

As you said, there isn't a lot of information about this bass. Thus, this vid est very welcome! Thanks.

This is my main bass but I swapped out the pickups with EMG’s Geezer
I believe these used to be $299 brand new. I regret not pulling the trigger and buying one from Sweetwater when I had the chance. Great video man.
Silverburst is just so lush!
Could it be transformed into a passive circuit bass ?????? Help!

I believe he still does!
If it’s hard to find 2nd hand, that is usually a sign that it is a good bass.
I have this bass and i coulnd't find more onfo about it but i love it
I just scored one of these used on GC's website.
I have one and it is rad!l
He played with a pick GET HIM!!!!!
Just kidding great video for a great bass👍

I saw one on craigslist for $50 but i had other bass stuff going on and passed up on it.
The Marcus Miller Signature Jazz has a bass boost.
BASS player here, Leo Fender's last BASS design.

Exactly
Made in? Us? china?
Crafted in Indonesia.
*Sanders.
Troy Sanders is going to be pissed. This "Troy Sander" model is a total knockoff!
