Love the videos. You're video quality and editing is improving vastly. The only critique I have is the music is higher volume than your narration while filming. So I'm constantly adjusting volume throughout the video. Other than that I enjoy the videos. And green with envy with the size and quality of fish in NZ. Utah it's a rarity to come across fish that you're catching all day long.

Thanks Chase. Appreciate the feedback, will look at trying to balance that better in future videos! The fishing here is great, if you ever get the chance to come, jump at it.

@@OnTheFlyNZ You're welcome for the feedback, and thanks for taking no offense to the positive criticism. If I ever have the financial means, and opportunity to fish in NZ, I definitely will. Good luck, and keep the content coming.

Hi Phil, what a week of fishing, there are some big fish in the Tongariro. I hooked into a huge one on Monday but got broke off, the second fish not only broke off but broke my #8 Orvis Helios rod in half, luckily the broken bit floated down to my son who fished it out. Took it to Orvis agent in Turangi (Creel tackle shop) who arranged for the rood to be courier to the States, looks like I am back to my back up rods again. Must have been an Orvis day, right next customer was a Brit with a broken #6 Orvis rod! The fishing has been hard as it’s been cold a very blustery wind. I tied the greenish eggs on #14 barbless hooks, the colour and texture and white veil are a killer combo, the hooks are crap and have broken off! Thats fishing. Harera.....

Sounds like a very eventful week for you! At least your hooking into them! And yes some very big top condition fish around. I’ve been hearing of the odd brown being caught but haven’t caught any lately myself! Thanks for watching!

Nice one dude. Had my first crack on the hinie yesterday for a few hours. Put a soft hackle under a blow fly which worked real well.

Nice! Any fish on the blow fly or all taking the soft hackle?

Just on the soft hackle which was about 600mm under the blowy. I was watching them pop up mid water and getting nothing on the 'standard' so changed and got instant success. Thanks to you guys that share your knowledge on here it gave me scope to think it through and change. Cheers

Hayden Stewart Nice bro that was a smart change to make. So important to just constantly make changes when you know they are there but you can’t get them to take. That’s a real sign that they are starting to turn to their summer feeding habits.

Hayden Stewart One really cool technique at this time of year when their feeding habits are beginning to change from hard on the bottom to higher in the water column, is regular indicator setup a fly on a tag about 500mm below to fish that top third of water and another one hard on the bottom. Really good way of covering both.
