  • Why do Americans spend every 4th of July blowing stuff up? What does that have to do with celebrating their independence from Britain and the birth of their country? Not a whole lot, but it's something that they've always done.

TL;DW Long story short- Americans blow up stuff on the 4th of July because they always have, since when they first became a country, and John Adams was not only a Founding Father of the country, but the Founding Father of this tradition of blowing stuff up.

Neil Degrasse Tyson has a nice quote that goes something like, "Americans are great at blowing stuff up, but they aren't very good and understanding where all of the pieces will land."

Where I live we get arrested for lighting even a sparkler. Our founding fathers are turning in their graves!

Well, that depends on your definition of "adopted." The Declaration of Independence was ratified by the 2nd Continental Congress on July 2 (with which I agree with John Adams should be the celebratory date, as that was the date for which he was referring in your quote of him). All that happened on July 4 was that the final draft was approved and signed by John Hancock, the President of the 2nd Continental Congress. Furthermore, the official copy wasn't signed (including John Hancock doing so again with such a large signature that it became the country's very first meme) until August 2, and not all of the signers did so on that day (albeit most did).

Umm, we use fireworks to celebrate our FREEDOM. Haven't you figured that out yet? Or do you have to lose your freedom to get what it means?

Why do you use such a disrespectful, sarcastic, voice for John Adams? He was a great man, And your disrespecting him, just to make a RUclips video...?
