Excellent review Zack! I have a S1000RR and the GSX-S makes a great companion bike, I don't miss the HP of the RR at all with the K5 motor. I also looked at the S1000R but I couldn't justify it at almost twice the the price and being less comfortable. Keep the videos coming!
It would be really interesting to have a comparison of this bike, the new gsx-s750, the mt 09, xsr 900, z900, and the z900rs. I know they aren’t all exactly in the same class, but they are all fun, affordable, and comfortable sport bikes. I am a big fan of more affordable comfy sport bikes that the mt 09 helped to popularize. The retro nakeds also add some variety and a different take on some of these newer naked sport bikes
Great review fella. Nice to see a balanced assessment of a motorcycle on everyday roads where most of us spend our time. Keep up the good work and any chance of a review on the BMW R1200R?
This is a bike I’m definitely interested in. I’ve ridden sport bikes most of my life but now that I’ve had a Kawasaki Z1000 for a while I don’t see myself going back. The torque of my Z1000 is fantastic, especially after coming off my ZX6R. It’s amazing how much torque it has as low as 3000-4000 rpm. It sounds like this one is even better. I’m just happy this category of motorcycle exists.
Oh good man, I requested - thankyou for doing. Unfortunately a bit late, as I went and bought one (the F model) anyway! Very happy with it though :D it's one of those hidden gems, I think. Some people won't be able to see past the lack of fancy electronics and rider modes, but it's a good, honest, value-for-money bike with all the right bits where it counts. For the F at least, it's a sports tourer with definitely way more focus on the sport than the tourer - which is perfect for what I was after.
I was shopping for a FZ 09 in my head for a little while now, still trying to sell my Camaro. But I stopped at a Suzuki dealership the other day and sat on one of these 1000s, what a spectacular bike to sit on. It's definitely the bike that I want I can't wait to buy one of these bad boys. The Styling in my opinion is the most gorgeous bike I've seen to date.
I sat on one of those guys at the motorcycle show in Toronto a couple of days ago, the seating position felt so right! It was a lot more comfortable than I imagined it would be. (For a somewhat short person.)
I love this bike so much. So far it's the best bike I ever own. If i had to choose between the suzuki gsx-s 1000 and my old Yamaha R1 I would take the suzuki every time. Its a really fun bike to ride.
Glad you said 130whp bc the bike is supposed to be over 150 crank hp. Easily tuned for more. This bike really is an amazing performance bargain. The K5-K8 engine really is a gem. I've got my eye on the faired GSX-S1000F ABS model, and discounts are abound since nobody is buying them.
Always love to watch you guys ride great technique, always checking mirrors blinkers, and blinds. As a new rider I've only done 20k on a klr650, and looking to move onto the next bike. Your reviews are great for research, keep up the great work.
@@Porsche996driver I got married instead, but still love watching riding videos. In the process of building a man shed, perhaps when I have a place 2 store my 2 wheels, then I'll get another one.
For all you guys hating on the gsx-s1000. My brother has a 2016 tuono factory 1100 and I have a 2016 gsx-s1000. We did a third gear race starting at 55mph. I beat him all the way to the top of third gear about 110mph and then his quickshifter and extra 1k rpm passed me. For 7000 dollars less ill take it any day
The throttle on the 15-16 GSX-S1K can be snatchy, this is an easy fix though with an ECU reflash or a PCV install. The later models have improvement from Suzuki in that regards, it shouldn't be a deal breaker per say. Many in the GSXS forums have reported improved fueling with a simple reflash stating that it was improved by up to 70% and made the throttle a lot smoother.
🤔 starting out with such a beast! Be careful though. Not the lightest and definitely not the tamest either. Apart from that, great choice and super sweet deal.
The grey looks great, I wouldn't bother with blue.. I've a Kawasaki Z1000, not one bit of Kawasaki green to be seen on it.. Great video's man. Nice and laid back with just the right amount of wheelies to show the bike has spirit.. Keep 'em coming guys
Hey Zach, GSX-S750 recently launched in India, via the CKD route. About Suzuki's reliability, no questions. Would 💝 to see you riding it like this one, and comparison with CB650F, MT07, & Street Triple. Love your channel the most #01 truly.
Great video. Anyone else think, man, the Japanese are great when it comes to practicality but fall flat on looks, yet the Europeans (Italians esp.) are great at the latter but the dependability is meh? With the exceptions of course.

I can't believe it has a little button that you can push and it just starts right up, all bikes should have this, I can't tell you how sick and tired I am of kick starting my 2014 R6
Super Kyle it totally went over your head. You have to hold the button to turn it over on your R6, I’m sure. You can push this one and let it go and it will start, as demonstrated.
Donald Trump's Space Force Slow compared to what? It’s fast compared to a FZ-07, a moped, a Honda Civic. Did you ever think some people don’t want a bike that does Mach 3?
Ive ridden all of them, the 750 pulls you off the back of the seat when you hit 8k rpm, its much faster than the mt07. The s1000 obviously is the fastest of the bunch but its the torque thats the selling point for that model. Id say the gsx s1000 is the fastest followed by the z900, mt09 and than the gsx s750. Having said that there is not much in it when you are on a canyon .
@@steve-wu7jp I agree with you. I am living in Hamamatsu City (Suzuki factory town) and young kids used to buy 750 or 600 to enjoy mountain roads, To the frank 1000 is too powerful to use his 'Power Band'. The GSXS1000 is a SLEEPER OF a BEAST. Don't take it for granted, it will get you killed. I LOVE THIS BIKE. it just does everything right. IMHO it is also the best looking of all the naked bikes out there. Even the stock exhaust sounds the best of all of the others. I've never had a stock bike that sounded so good. IMHO of course :)
It looks better all in black, with a tail tidy and a windscreen, but ya, imo, looks are the main thing taking away from this package. Otherwise, such great value, as we've come to expect from Suzuki. I'm glad they kept the ride sporty and borrowed from a better part of their history for the powerplant.
ive got one of the first 2015-16 gsx-s1000 ,i had new upgraded ecu and use power commander 5 , and love the bike , the best all rounder bike ive had , bikes before was , 2015 1290 ktm superduke , fell apart,, ktm 990 supermoto was ok but too tall , mv agusta 800rr ,load of electrical problems , and mv went bust again :( , 2015 blade good bike but boring , then the gsx-s1000 much cheaper than the rest and a much better bike ;) ,, took me a lot of money and time to find the perfect bike , then the GSXS-1000 came out and it was the one for me , fast and fun to ride and very comfortable
I've got the f version also the best bike I've owned the last two were a new MV brutale and a new super Duke 990 it does everything well i take mine on tour's no problems every time I ride it it still surprises me as to how good it is . well under rated bike
Can you comment on the headlights effectiveness in the dark? The reason i'm asking this because some stock halogens are not as good as the all LED ones that get on the new FZ09.Thanks
I know it's not the same class but I'd like You Zack to do the MC Commute on Street Triple 675 r and kind of compare with GSX-S.With Your afterthoughts regarding comfort more than performance. Thanks!
I absolutely love my GSXS 1000. Super comfortable, fast, easy to ride (wouldn't recommend to a beginner though) and it was cheap. The looks work for me which a big plus but I know I'm in the minority on that one. Overall, I couldn't be happier with my decision to get this bike.
Superb test. You get the information you want from Zak's videos. The best on RUclips. I take it the gearchange is smooth. It seemed it. The bike I'd buy in this class. I own a GSX1300.
Personally I think this is way sexier than most bikes out there maybe with the exception of the Tuono. The best part - not that it matters to me... cause, you know.. skill... - it kicks the ugly butt of an MT10 for less money while saving your money on the fuel at the same time :)
The lack of reliability issues makes this bike even more appealing, as it's #2 next to Yamaha at #1 in reliability of brands. Not to mention the K5-K8 engine is bulletproof and proven, making lots of power and has lots of aftermarket. Longer stroke and smaller valves give it better fuel efficiency than all the others.
Can you please do the new 2017 z1000. Also can you give us any info if they are going to try and compete with all the other super naked bikes. I think because of know all the other bike clean the floor with it and it makes me sad.
2016 Z1000 USA. 2017 Z1000R Europe only. No Z1000 variants in the USA now. 2017 Z900 USA, power-to-weight ratio is almost the same as the former 1000 due to weight loss.
Below about 8-9,000 rpm, it already competes well with those other bikes. As far as future concerns, I don't have any idea what they will do. They added the "R" model for the EU market and splashed some upgraded suspension bits on the bike, otherwise the engine remains the same.
talking about pricing, what about Bandit 1250S?! I got one over a month ago as my first big bike and I don't see my self replacing it any time soon. I have so much fun in the twisties and still averaging almost 50mpg when driving normally. I paid 3,3k for 2009 model, best buy in my life. Nobody can beat Suzuki when it comes to pricing&fun&reliability..
in summer i wouldnt need that easy start thing... my DR starts immediately like just flick it or press it as short as humanly possible and it starts faster than that... like a light switch im not sure why not every bike does this but feels like they are just not setup correctly and maybe running too lean?
Comments on the trans: driving a '95 Geo Metro (a rebadged Suzuki) and a '03 Mazda 3, both five speed manuals. In comparison to the Metro the Mazda has a wide torque band and closely spaced gears and to me it feels like driving an automatic.
i'am really interested about this bike, the f version. I 'm just to a twin fan boy but i think the smoothness of that will get me... or suzuki have to release a new sv 1000s with abs and i will look at it, eicma 2017 ? i will dream
He talked about short gear ratios and, in a way, I do agree with him. The engine can do more if it has taller gears. On the other hand, I have a Yamaha FZ6R and I can stay (and I do stay) in 6th gear between 15 and 135mph. On my way from home to anywhere and back, if I don't have to stop for any reason, I can take roundabouts, U-turns and whatever in 6th gear. And, that way, I manage to get over fifty miles per American gallon. So maybe it's a good-ish thing after all? =P Thanks a lot, MC! Excellent video!
Just watched this again. If my B-King is anything to go by, I'd suggest the valve clearances on this bike rarely need adjusting. My B-King never needs it.
Kinda miss the back it in part of these older videos ;)) Zack, I have a question that bugs me a lot. My ZX10R is darn hot in anything above 20C city speeds (around 35-45mph). Is this the same with these liter nakeds - circa 2013? Really bugs me and it is the reason why I’m driving my smaller cc commuter. Having less fairings seems to keep the engine cooler but I don’t drive it for extended periods to tell the difference
Can you do something from the cheapie end of the scale ? Cfmoto has the new 650MT out now, might be of interest to some of us poor working mugs looking for a half decent affordable ride. Keep up the good work fellas
When are you bastards gonna put one up against an MT-10 (somehow, nobody has done this yet), people keep saying they're in different categories and I look at the spec (nearly identical power, weight and track prowess) and I wonder why people say it.
Stephen Forsyth there's kind of a top tier super naked category and then a lower tier. most people would consider the fz10 with others like the tuono, super duke and s1000r while the gsxs1000 isnt quite up to par. makes sense when you compare their prices
Stephen Forsyth I own the GSXS and I have ridden the MT10. They're on the same level. But honestly, I like the GSXS better. The MT10 just has more Doo dads.
Mostly because those people know bikes just as well as a donkey knows astronomy. All you need is to see the dyno curves to understand that the GSXS is in the exact same category, and wins on value for money hands down.
Because of the amazing electronics on the MT10, the crossplane motor and it's able to be ridden much harder. Same category, but the MT10 wins every shootout because it is that much better
Love these commute videos keep them up.

Overall, I couldn't be happier with my decision to get this bike.
how's the gixxus treating you? any mods, any new complaints? heard the throttle response is the biggest issue people have with the bike.
Agree. I think it’s one of the sexiest bikes around. Love it
So the question is... is a new SuperDuke worth two of these??
No Lmao
Yes.
Yes
Kischardio No but maybe 1.5!
Tell superduke to mess with hayabusa, that's the same engine range.
That shift lever boot at 14:29 lol. I like dis
Can you please do the new 2017 z1000. Also can you give us any info if they are going to try and compete with all the other super naked bikes. I think because of know all the other bike clean the floor with it and it makes me sad.
As far as I know, USA won't get the 2017 Z1000.
I wonder what Kawasaki is going to do to compete with them
2016 Z1000 USA.
2017 Z1000R Europe only. No Z1000 variants in the USA now.
2017 Z900 USA, power-to-weight ratio is almost the same as the former 1000 due to weight loss.
Do you think Kawasaki will changes the z1000 in the future to compete with Yamaha mt 10 or even the gsxs....
Below about 8-9,000 rpm, it already competes well with those other bikes. As far as future concerns, I don't have any idea what they will do. They added the "R" model for the EU market and splashed some upgraded suspension bits on the bike, otherwise the engine remains the same.
What's the right side look like? I noticed the clutch lever is missing its ball-end. A little scraped up?
But... but the clutch lever is on the left side..?
Oops...I mean the left side...
How would you compare the Z900 to the GSX S 1000
THERE'S THE QUESTION!
Way better than the z900
Learned a lot from you! Keep those video up and also see if u can do one with a Ducati diavel! Thank you
Cool video as always :D any chance you can go on the kawasaki vulcan s café? :D
talking about pricing, what about Bandit 1250S?! I got one over a month ago as my first big bike and I don't see my self replacing it any time soon. I have so much fun in the twisties and still averaging almost 50mpg when driving normally. I paid 3,3k for 2009 model, best buy in my life. Nobody can beat Suzuki when it comes to pricing&fun&reliability..
in summer i wouldnt need that easy start thing... my DR starts immediately like just flick it or press it as short as humanly possible and it starts faster than that... like a light switch
im not sure why not every bike does this but feels like they are just not setup correctly and maybe running too lean?
The Easy Start bikes also don't require the clutch to be pulled in when in Neutral, which was a new thing for Suzuki bikes.
It also has the GSX-R1000 swingarm right? Pretty solid machine
Love the commute videos
Thanks as always for a great vid on what seems to be a pretty happenin' bike!
This is the updated version with the improved power and slipper clutch, correct?
I have a '16 in Blue. Man, love it and it costs thousands less than the competiton.
Sounds really good for a stock exhaust.
Clutch or engine power @11:58 ?
Thank you. Nice video
he pulles the clutch you can see it if you watch closely
The ninja 1000 has same ratio. Only 500 rpm difference. I like my clutch too much to try take off in 6th
MCN could learn something from these guys.
DJ RichyLaurence What could they learn?
To talk about the technicals and use a better microphone.
Dale Walker's Igor. for commute. or just stock bandit.
0:24 *wheel find* lol pun
Just watched this again. If my B-King is anything to go by, I'd suggest the valve clearances on this bike rarely need adjusting. My B-King never needs it.
I keep coming back to this bike in my head saying i should get it eventually but then find something else I'd rather have
How tall are you Zack?, I’m 6’8” and loved this bike when I demo rode it, it was actually more fun than the GSX-R 1000.
Can you do a test ride of the honda cbr650f the 2017 model not the 2015-16 one. (updated gear box, new intake, new suspension)
Yaaaaay new MC commute! Do you guys have your hands on a 2017 Street Triple or Ducati Supersport yet?
Can you do something from the cheapie end of the scale ? Cfmoto has the new 650MT out now, might be of interest to some of us poor working mugs looking for a half decent affordable ride. Keep up the good work fellas
I like your videos, which is better this or a z900? thanks
Yo can we get a 2018 Suzuki GSXS1000F ride? Love the videos btw!
Loving the videos, can you review the Kawasaki ninja h2sx
I love the name! "Gixus!", I've not heard that before. So much easier than G S X S one thousand!
I got my FZ-10 for 11k which I felt was a great deal, but 10k for that gixxes is pretty nice too
When are you bastards gonna put one up against an MT-10 (somehow, nobody has done this yet), people keep saying they're in different categories and I look at the spec (nearly identical power, weight and track prowess) and I wonder why people say it.
Jayy Cee not better than my 2016 gsx-s1000 plus I'd smash it and the mt10 is ugly like....an ugly transformer😉👍🏻
Pleaseeee make review of bmw r1200 rs. So far you did the most honest review and real statistics. Please do it
I love this motorized vehicle
Can we please get a new episode on the 2018 model with the slipper clutch
Love that bike!
