I promise you and everyone else here, YOU DO NOT need to buy school supplies for college. Trust me when I say that binders, folders, even notebooks,etc tend to take up space in the dorm and are unnecessary. Most assignments are online and very few professors give handouts. Most of what you should be packing for college is bed/dorm related, bath/laundry related, and clothing.
The minimum school supplies to bring is: pens, loose leaf paper, tape, scissors, stapler, sticky notes, 1 folder, calculator, and highlighters.
Well it’s reallllyy different for other schools…
I may be exaggerating when i say reallyyy but the list of supplies you wrote is quite a lot even though you just said you dint need supplies.
I went to 2 “open house” for college, and they hand out required lists containing many supplies.
I suggest if you want to keep this comment take out the part where you say “I promise you and ever else here” because, you technically are breaking a promise.

not me following similar advice last year and being wildly underprepared and needing to buy everything from amazon for next-day delivery...
edit to add: i was underprepared because I *need* notes to learn. I can not learn without them; in fact, a lot of people can't. college is a *not* that different from high school. how you learned in high school will be how you learn in college - go with that over advice on the internet. if you needed your notes in HS you will need them in college. if you prefer loose leaf and binders, do that. if you prefer notebooks, do that. if you think you can do digital notes - try that. But its all about finding what works for YOU not what worked for someone else!
For college less is more think about using a 5 subject notebook each semester… it’s easier to keep up with things on a daily… you won’t have to keep switching things out of your backpack… just a tip from experience.

as a british student, i wish we had shops that sold as much stuff as target regarding school supplies, we have quite a bit in august time but not as much as the americans it seems!! i start sept 6th but have an induction day on aug 23rd bc i’m going to year 12 in a new campus
In Ireland (where I'm from at least) we have like one bug main shop that has like two three aisles of stuff to buy and if it's not there then you have to go to Tesco and try find whatever else you need,cuz Tesco focouses a bit more on stuff like lunch boxes and bags not rlly books

One thing to also keep in mind when school shopping for college is to try to buy double the notebooks. For each semesters you’ll always have different classes, so to save time and money get double the notebooks in one trip. With folders you can always reuse them so don’t worry about buying new ones if you don’t have too.

Only school supplies I buy are spiral notebooks, a planner, pens and pencils and white out… I feel like college does not need much but that depends on how you learn and plan on taking notes and stuff. Plus most of the other supplies I have are left over notebooks and supplies from previous years to keep from spending unnecessary money

I’m with Lexi. I swear I ALWAYS go hella overboard on school supplies shopping. Not even joking, I still have extra school supplies from two years ago 😐
sissss college is a lot different and most of those binders / notebooks you won’t use. they’re great to have but 80% of everything in college is online. when i go shopping i buy 1 5 subject notebook and some pens maybe some post it’s if i’m feeling fancy. most notes and assignments are online but it’s good to have a notebook in case professors do not allow electronics. this supplies will probably last you for your second year too😂😂

i love the way ur dad is so supportive
They had skin tone crayons/colored pencils/markers sense 1992. But they just reintroduced them with more shades, so everyone could be represented. It helps so much with my artwork, as I color on a budget. Plus one of my friends, I always think of him when I see these packs around, had colored himself in purple because they didn't have his skin tone. When the teacher got mad, he explained that he did that because there was only peach in the coloring supplies So he turned it into a joke to show the teacher that there needed to be more than just peach. And that's another reason why I love that they re-introduced the packs, because now he and everyone else can be able to color their own picture. And that makes me happy. I dont know if they ever got rid of them per say I think they just stopped selling them for a while.

Awwww. I wish I could’ve told you, you don’t need as much as you bought 😂 especially the binders. Maybe one binder, and the dividers & 2 pks of paper bc you’ll notice you’ll start taking less & less the longer you’re there. Freshman year I had so much stuff, by the second semester I had a few tablets and pens. I went to college in 2006(yes I’m old lol) but we didn’t have much work online back then, it was sort of just being introduced so very few people carried a laptop to class-we had them just didn’t take them to class.

At my highschool we don't have lockers so we have to have everything with us in our backpack... so thats why someone would need a huge backpack

Keeping an agenda can be so difficult and time consuming but you have to have something to keep track of assignments and exams. I’d suggest a schedule like you said or a google calendar or a desk calendar blotter. I start back August 23rd.
