Ok we gotta play the California angle. Our cars identify as endangered species. Their natural habitat is under attack from land development. We must set aside this land so the Mustangs,Cobras,Vipers and Hellcats can roam freely along with the smaller species they depend on for prey. Support the Willow Springs Wild Life Sanctuary!
Sad to hear and I hope the new owners will be genuine enthusiasts. I'm from the Tropics and enjoyed some excellent 'schooling' from Mr. Keith Code's "California SuperBike School" on the Streets of Willow Track. That was very productive for me and I thoroughly enjoyed everything about the track.
🐝🏁Bill was a cool guy. Took me around the track in his celica, that was a very exciting day for me. The owner of willow springs taking me around the track, that guy drive fast. Rest in peace Bill, hope someone good gets your track and keeps the nostalgia of the track
How about a motorsports country club similar to Thermal and Spring Mountain but catering to a less well-heeled clientele. Is there a viable business model there?
From a business perspective, the biggest drawback is that it’s in California. The State is going to take a huuuge chunk of the money you’d otherwise spend on upgrades and repairs. Taxes, fees, licenses, insurance requirements… I owned a business in CA for years and, let me tell you, there’s a reason entrepreneurs are moving out of CA, not into it. I love Willow dearly, but that’s an uphill battle for any investor.
It’s also an hour and a half from LA which is a HUGE upside! Look at the positives! Every SoCal car enthusiast knows Willow Springs, and all the major LA-based car RUclipsrs consistently film there.
@@SleepyPanda-DougBurbidge I’m not saying it couldn’t work, but I hope whoever buys it knows exactly what they’re getting into. LA ain’t what it used to be, economically.
Hope a RUclips channel picks it up, Emilia, Cleetus comes to mind. Joint venture or crowd source, we all get to own a piece. Has that ever been done ? Hmmm
I've been there many, many times, both on & off track since the 1970s. It's a great venue, however I have a list of things that need to be done to bring the facility up to the spec of the other ca tracks. Some inexpensive & others not so much. I would guess it would take someone of exceptional deep pockets to pull it off the right way. I hope that someone will come forward.
As a recently former business owner in Cali, it is a terrible idea to do business in this state these days. May the potential buyers do themselves a favor and buy a track in another state.
As stated already, Jay Leno should buy Willow Springs. Or Hagerty. Or one of the millionaire businessmen who have dozens of classic cars stored at the Petersen.
Wish it weren't so, but it's in California and the state gov doesn't like ICE vehicles; hates racing as well as the kind of people who gravitate towards it. Don't be surprised if nothing comes of it and the costs to bring it back are deemed prohibitive.
Exactly my thoughts. I saw her video about it and thought, I hope she knows exactly what she’s getting in to. California is a graveyard of business owners.
Well... it's been open since 1953. Seems like it's already lasted a bit longer than 2 minutes. Plus it's an official California Point of Historical Interest. But you keep believing what your "news" tells you about this state.
Worst track(s) I've ever driven in the worst condition. Crap facilities. Rumble strips that will destroy your car. Pot holes at Apex's that will destroy your car. Turns that are dangerous at speed without a full cage. They should tear this track up and rebuild it like Buttonwillow or Thunderhill. 9 turns is boring as all hell albeit, it is fast and scary. Maybe connect Big Willow with Streets and Horse Thief and make it a proper facility!!!!
Agreed. I miss the Auto Club Speedway track in Fontana, Ca. They completely destroyed it and they are currently building a mega warehouse on the land.. I fear this will be a similar future for Willow Springs.
Who ever buys this historic track needs to add a racing museum for the amazing racing history of this track and racing history in general
Been going to Willow for 40+ years...hope a great buyer will make it happen !
Really hoping Emelia Hartford snags this gem.
She mentioned her and a group are in talks. 👍
Jay Leno, are you watching this?
Same thought I had. Come on Jay. Save the place!
How cool would it be if he turned it into something like Barber?
Bought my superlotto tickets today!
It will be bought by some clout chaser
@2264ish we should put a petition together and ask him to purchase it!
SUGGESTION: GET HISTORICAL LANDMARK STAUS FOR THE TRACK. SO IT WILL NEVER BE TORN DOWN!!!!!
But what if you wanted to add another track or course? That would fuck with that plan, won't it?
It already is designated a Historical Landmark
SAVE WILLOW SPRINGS FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS TO LOVE AND ENJOY!!!!
if i had the money i would buy it right now!!!

Support the Willow Springs Wild Life Sanctuary!
The layout of the big track is deceptively simple. Cutting a competitive lap time requires extraordinary precision.
I road raced motorcmotorcycles there from the mid 80’s to mid 90’s in my youth.
Great memories!
Suggestion: Hagerty Insurance should be a perspective buyer
Sad to hear and I hope the new owners will be genuine enthusiasts.

The trails in the hills behind the track is true 😊 old mines too
Yep
Awesome place to Live

One huge problem, its in california, not a very friendly place for a business owner ..
How about a motorsports country club similar to Thermal and Spring Mountain but catering to a less well-heeled clientele. Is there a viable business model there?
I’m sure there is
Thanks Jeff! That was awesome. I know Chris Huth and live nearby. Happy to cover an event for you and Autotrader.
what happened to Stephanie, Chris' sis?
Not sure if I like this news...
I don't think Stephanie can hold that place together...
I heard Emilia Hartford is trying to buy it.
Peterson museum are you watching this?
Someone might pave Willow Springs and put up a parking lot.
and a housing development
Noooooooooooo !!!!!!
like private air parks - mammoth homes with front yard access to the facility
Hope not...
Historical spot that has more potential than it currently shows
Needs some hotels and outdoor activities nearby...
Emelia Hartford is trying to buy it.
Ill buy it and keep it great
Sony Polyphony Digital should get it....
That could be awesome
I'm on my way to buy my lucky lottery ticket now. 😁
PLEASE! DO NOT LET LAND DEVELOPERS BUY THIS TRACK, PLEASE!!

Sell it to Emilia
Agreed
@CleetusM BUY THIS TRACK TOO BROOO KEEP IT ALIVE 😤😤😤
THANKS FOR LETTING ME SHARE
Hope a RUclips channel picks it up, Emilia, Cleetus comes to mind. Joint venture or crowd source, we all get to own a piece. Has that ever been done ? Hmmm

Looking at you Hagerty.
How about all the race leagues get involved and buy it could be shared by them
As a recently former business owner in Cali, it is a terrible idea to do business in this state these days. May the potential buyers do themselves a favor and buy a track in another state.
Leno doesn't drive on the track. In an interview when asked why, he said "I like sex, but I don't want to be a porn star."
SUGGESTION : SCCA
As stated already, Jay Leno should buy Willow Springs. Or Hagerty. Or one of the millionaire businessmen who have dozens of classic cars stored at the Petersen.
Has it sold?
Hope it remains a racetrack! 👍
Another race track in jeopardy?
SUGGESTION: OPTIMA BATTERIES
SUGGESTION: MOTOR TREND
SUGGESTION: GOODYEAR
SUGGESTION: MICHLIN
Wish it weren't so, but it's in California and the state gov doesn't like ICE vehicles; hates racing as well as the kind of people who gravitate towards it. Don't be surprised if nothing comes of it and the costs to bring it back are deemed prohibitive.
SUGGESTION: BF GOODWRENCH
Streets was actually just repaved not too long ago
The skidpad needs help though, it's still pretty rough. The rest of streets is good to go.
@@AutoTrader ah fair enough, I agree the skid pad is pretty rough
Emilia will not buy it I bet. Cost in new property taxes alone will eat all finanicial gains.
Exactly my thoughts. I saw her video about it and thought, I hope she knows exactly what she’s getting in to. California is a graveyard of business owners.
I highly doubt that she can afford that this whole things has to be worth 20-30 million easy.
Yeah. The taxes alone is the deal breaker for me. Sad for this to go but with how shitty Cali is, it's inevitable unless something changes quickly.
Close to my house. Hmmm.
SUGGESTION: MONSTER ENERGY DRINKS
Or Red Bull. Maybe they can go halvsies.
DAM 😢 🤠❤️😺💜 WYOMING 🇺🇸💞
Thanks to EV
Didnt Emilia buy this?
Goodbye willow spring
Would love if there was a NASCAR race there. Obviously they need a repave, some walls/rails put up and some more grand stands/concession areas.
So basically change everything.😂
NASCAR doesn’t have the draw it used too. It’s a petty soap opera with race cars.
It's in commyfornia, you have a mob that will shut it down in 2 minutes if they just 'feel like it'
Well... it's been open since 1953. Seems like it's already lasted a bit longer than 2 minutes. Plus it's an official California Point of Historical Interest. But you keep believing what your "news" tells you about this state.
You don‘t need any “news“ to understand that complete nutcases, evil ones, govern this state. You just need to live here, like I do…
SUGGESTION: NASCAR
How much are they asking
More than you can afford pal
SUGGESTION: GENERAL TIRES
Laguna Seca is cooler :P
It’s in California, so it’s not worth wasting cash on
Cletus? [!!!]

It's 4 sail because motorsports is dying. 😢
