I’m glad to see that you’re shedding light on the homeless situation. It’s one of the worst I’ve ever seen anywhere. You don’t see that in Thailand. Many people are poor all over the world but thanks to the poor leadership Hawaii has, this is what you get.
In Thailand, if you get caught with ANY drugs………you go to jail…….FOREVER…….that’s why you don’t see it over there…..different values in that culture and our culture……thanks for shedding light on the problem here!
I use to work in Waikiki for outrigger as a Security. Working in Waikiki is hard. Specially my shift overnight I deal with homeless and the worst part is that they are not nice. They’re very aggressive. But now I work only at the Honolulu Airport Hotel it’s true I deal with homeless but not as bad as Waikiki
I've lived in west Oahu for 20 years and my wife is from El Salvador. My wife says although there are dangerous people in El Salvador, it is only in specific areas and you know where to avoid. But HERE, danger can reach out at you ANYWHERE and the homeless are everywhere. We are turning into California with our policies and problems, albeit on a smaller 1/40th scale. But we still love it here, and will likely stay if we can continue to afford it.
Oahu is like a mini LA that at one point received many homeless who were given one way tickets here … try the other islands like Maui Kaua’i Molokai or Lana’i to get a better feel of the island and its lifestyles .. each island has homeless but not as much as Oahu
Im originally from Hawai’i, I live in Thailand now. For years there has been cities and states from the continental US that would give one way tickets to homeless people, often those who have drug or mental health issues. That has contributed to the homeless issues in Hawai’i. Another thing that many would not want to address is the military subsidies rent or home purchases driving housing costs for local residents, there needs to be an understanding that Hawai’i has a finite land and housing different than that of the continental US.
theres also a lot of wealthy international home owners who buy vacation homes in Hawaii and basically only live in Hawaii maybe a week or less a year. rent is expensive and food is expensive. 2nd most expensive city to live in after new york.
My son said while working in Hawaii , he got to speak to some of the homeless, MANY of them are not even from Hawaii. He was shocked how many of them got there .
I’ve lived on Oahu for 30 years, the past 8 years the crime and homeless has skyrocketed. The mainland is giving released convicts one-way tickets to Hawaii. Homeless people on the mainland are getting one-way tickets to Hawaii. There are people that get here without ID’s, their criminals, homeless. I'm leaving the island by the end of the year.
Its no secret that colder states would often pack up their homeless people get them warm clothes from Salvation army and goodwill and put them on a plan with a few hundred and let them enjoy the warm weather in Honolulu, go see who's in the homeless shelters. the population of homeless start to increase after the first snows in the mainland of USA.

At 22:11...that is the Ala Wai Canal, and its job is to take fresh rainwater from the mountains and dump it into the ocean. Before the canal was constructed, the rainwater would drain into the Waikiki area making it a swamp land instead of the beautiful beach you see today. The water is brackish which means it's a mixture of fresh and saltwater.

Majority of homeless people are from the mainland. They literally get flown here from different states and given all the information they need for assistance and programs that they can utilize.
One of the biggest contributing factors here regarding the homeless is other states giving their homeless a one way ticket here. It's gotten way out of hand.
@@ajourneytoessence2166 so how is greed and inequity bringing homeless to the most expensive state. I worked in the jail and have spoken to many that were locked up for minor offenses and asked them directly hiw is it that they got to Hawaii and it was exactly as I said. Perhaps do your homework and hove some knowledge before commenting.
Mainland gives homeless a one way ticket to Hawaii which is why Hawaii is getting more and more expensive because we have to pay for their medical and food stamps. We locals all end up paying and government doesn’t want to take measures to stop organizations from sending them here. It’s affecting tourism, we can’t take care of the homeless because there’s too many and not enough land to build on. What makes it worse is most are mentally ill attacking tourist and the elderly.
some states on the continent will send their people here in Hawaii because of the weather especially during the winter months and then we have to deal with them most of the population here are from the continent
Dude, in my humble opinion the homeless and poverty are everywhere in the world. I am glad you are showing these issues and I recommend you incorporate some of this in your VLOGs going forward. We must see the good and the bad. Bald and Bankrupt does this and he shows the areas in each country that are the worst and the best. You and Gladys are doing a great job, but this is an important add to your VLOGs. Just my opinion.
I'll always flown to Hawaii and laid over there for a couple of hours. Never really appealed to stay there reminded me too much at home in California. I love going to kauai I would definitely put that on your bucket list
Sorry but Gladys is wrong. She said she doesn’t see homelessness in other countries than she does in the US. That’s cause these other countries are second and 3rd world. They are already living poverty life. So she’s completing for saying that the US looks like a third world country. It’s gonna look bad of course cause our homelessness is very evident in AFFLUENT areas…which you guys travel to and show. Hawaii is the most expensive state. Of course you are gonna see it night and day Why focus so deeply on looting my and negativity and start talking about the positives of these topics
Good stuff Chris & Gladys. lived in Hawaii for thirty years- retired, moved to Thailand in 2005. I don't think Thailand has been considered third world for many years. Seems like many US cities are headed to that way, though
I was homeless half my childhood and some of my and some of my adulthood. I've worked at non profits that house the homeless in a variety of capacities including development director. And your comment is absolutely not true. No one's flying the houseless to Hawaii unless it's through a program that's transports people back to wherever their family already is and they have guaranteed housing there. No one randomly ships the houseless to Hawaii. Republican governors (Texas in particular)have been sending houseless and people living without documentation to liberal states by bus, and this is well documented, but mostly New York and California.
Hey Chris this is an amazing video. Its good to see both sides of a country. Keep up the good work. Only thing i say if you can is blur out the peoples faces the ones that don’t want to really talk(homeless). I’m going to Hawaii later this year. Hope i can be like you👊🏾
Keep in mind that the homeless that you see in Hawaii on a sidewalk is 99 percent from the states (mainland). Not Hawaii. Actual homeless Hawaiian’s or homeless “locals” are self functioning and out of sight for the most part.
Mr. Chris:Congratulations to you guys on your final remarkable video today’s from Honolulu, Hawaii to shows these amazing places & Landmarks in January of 2024❤❤❤
Hi Chris great video's Myself and my wife went to Hawaii few years ago there alot of homeless there we found talking to them there alot of X military soldiers homeless there we use to sit with them and by them food from McDonald's near where we stayed at on wiki Aston beach hotel
You have a beautiful heart Chris. God say to love each other and his love is not just a feeling it's also to show action. And what you are doing puts a smile on the lords face. Keep it up❤
That aint even the rough sides, thats just Waikiki and China Town, You gotta go to the projects and hoods like Kalihi or Waianae that would be dope to shed light on there struggles ❤
I have traveled around the world but in San Francisco where I live, the homeless, crime, violence is worse than anywhere I've been. I'm with you Chris, my goal is to move to South East Asia. Despite being developing countries, the people are respectful, peaceful, and no one is begging.
They should be like Canada, lol. Ask everyone coming in how much money they have and their intent while there. Otherwise, back on the plane, no can stay!
The UK also has a major problem with homeless people. Addiction and unemployment has sky rocketed since 2020. I also started to notice that things were starting to get bad in 2016. There's an ex service man who fought for the country and he's just been tossed to one side and completely disregarded by the Govt. Whenever I happen to see him, I make a point of giving him money along with getting him some food and drinks. The entire system is specifically devised to fail people and it only seems to benefit the Parliamentarians. It's so sad to see so many innocent lives being destroyed. Over here in the UK we have services that only offer lip service. There's a lot of money to be made from the unemployed, long term sick, the homeless and disabled by profit organisations that receive govt funding. There's so much corruption to the point were it sickens me to the back stomach.
Why do you suppose Honolulu’s Homeless issue is worsening? Because outside foreigners with big $$$ is outbidding them to rentals and mortgages. They are being either being forced onto the streets or to the continental mainland like Las Vegas. Shame on you rich foreigners and Hawaii Government who allows this to happen to your local residents! No ALOHA anymore in Hawaii! Not recommended for anyone to move there.

Hi Chris how are you?? I found your channel from your Egypt video’s and now I am watching you in Hawaii I am really impressed by your video’s you are a very kind person
Some of the other colder climate states actually send a lot of thier homeless to hawaii due to the livable climate here in hawaii. It then overruns our already limited resource that the state budgets for IHS .
Crazy! Watching videos of that now because of these comments... unreal
Bendito ayudalos... disculpa soy de Puerto Rico y así decimos..
Si ayudas a los qué estan con negocios a ellos más gracias eres grande AMIGO Dios te siga bendiciendo❤ feliz 2024.
Kinda hard to strike a conversation with someone when you’re holding a camera! Keep the great videos coming Chris!
Mr. Chris:Thanks you so much for these Fourth new remarkable videos that you released from Chinatown & other places in Honolulu, Hawaii to shows these amazing places in January of 2024❤❤❤I really LOVE these great videos so much watching them from last week until today’s on your final video 2024❤❤❤
The guy on the piano is my old Producer 😂😂. His name is Rawnie Lovely. He produced my album Kahepana Genesis 😂😂 bro Rawnie we need you back!!!
I was Rawnie's Manager when he formed Jook Box City. Got him/them on the radio and up to number 1 on the charts and also to the Hoku Awards. I'm so relieved to see that he's alive, been searching for him for the last few years and some folks thought he was dead or got kidnapped. Sad to see him houseless in Waikiki, such an amazingly talented braddah! Miss him and his happy feet dance! I pray he'll come out of this and get back to a healthy lifestyle, especially for his daughters. 🙏🏽 Ronald Patton aka Rawnie Lovely of Yucky Apple Studios, he produced so many big name Artists albums. He's also a lyrical genius and can play all kinds of instruments! 🎸 🎹 🥁 🎤🎶
@@LParizal Bro, You know!! lol. Yes he was good until his girl left him the singer of Jookbox city. and when we was working on my last song his so called friend took all his studio stuff. He took all is equipment, and he had the hardest time with all the artist songs because they took his hard drive. That's when he gave up. I still have a song that he almost finished. He is family to me. Rawnie Love from yacky apple studio.
@@kahepana2887 Just a really sad situation all the way around. He was doing so well and people started taking advantage of him and all kinds of stuff started happening , he just spiraled. I'm glad that he actually looks good and of sound mind in this video, because when I last saw him a few years ago he was not mentally well and didn't look good at all. I been trying to find him to check on him, actually thought he went missing because people were after him. I'm gonna try to look for him this weekend. He's a good dude, just has some issues and fell upon hard times.
Majority of homeless people are from the mainland. They literally get flown here from different states and given all the information they need for assistance and programs that they can utilize.
One of the biggest contributing factors here regarding the homeless is other states giving their homeless a one way ticket here. It's gotten way out of hand.
Nope, the biggest factors are greed, and inequality. Nice try though.
The Bro at the end was awesome. Talented and funny
2:57 I live in Hawaii 🤙
poverty is just anywhere in this world & same w/ unequal opportunities, a sad reality. keep it up w/ these contents chris & gladys 👍...
Keep up the great content Bro Chris 😊
some states on the continent will send their people here in Hawaii because of the weather especially during the winter months and then we have to deal with them most of the population here are from the continent
That is terrible to hear , I mean great that they get to be warm but ruins these islands
great video as always thanks for sharing Chris 👍
I didn't know that, thanks for sharing Chris. Keep up the good work man.
Thanks a lot brother!
It would be nice to see Glads give us an interaction of the scenic tour too.
I feel good to be Thai and I pray for homeless people to have good opportunities in every country.❤
It’s so cold in Alaska, a good handful of the homeless in Alaska were flown out from the governor of Alaska
Government hands always washing hands, using anyone they can to profit and line their pockets...
Of course you are gonna see it night and day
Why focus so deeply on looting my and negativity and start talking about the positives of these topics
Good stuff Chris & Gladys. lived in Hawaii for thirty years- retired, moved to Thailand in 2005. I don't think Thailand has been considered third world for many years. Seems like many US cities are headed to that way, though
I used to be homeless. And I found that states were flying their homeless to Hawaii. Come on man! Trump And Vivek 2024.
Hi Chris, Happy New Year with best wishes!
Wow 😯 this is really sad. I’m glad you are doing this to know how Hawai’i is.
Mr. Chris:Congratulations to you guys on your final remarkable video today’s from Honolulu, Hawaii to shows these amazing places & Landmarks in January of 2024❤❤❤
I lived in Honolulu in the 1980s and knew a homeless elder...a woman and many families lived in tarp cities on the beach...
Hell ya respect to that dude for hustling
🙏🏻❤️
You are such a sweet guy … such a good role model … Many blessings of love to you.
The US has a mental health & drug problem. That’s why we have so many homeless across this country.
Homeless were flown over from mainland. Hundreds
300+ on each plane.😂😂😂
Hi Chris great video's
Myself and my wife went to Hawaii few years ago there alot of homeless there we found talking to them there alot of X military soldiers homeless there we use to sit with them and by them food from McDonald's near where we stayed at on wiki Aston beach hotel
You have a beautiful heart Chris. God say to love each other and his love is not just a feeling it's also to show action. And what you are doing puts a smile on the lords face. Keep it up❤
Yes Chris it's a reality so sad about homeless people take care much love from Kandy Sri Lanka
Yes!!! Sad to see the US going downhill
LA is just as bad. It's a big problem in the palm springs area I'm nearby and have camps everywhere now
The high prices of Hawaii means one slip or slice of misfortune can hit hard and quickly sad to see hope for change for the unfortunate.
America is always helping other countries and people coming in the country illegally and not taking care of our own especially our veterans .
Exactly
Ty chris awsome vid keep em coming
Thanks, will do!
Thanks for sharing the real streets Chris.
Aweeeee man at the beginning of the video you where a 4minute walk from my bar by Ala Moana lol
Went back in 2018 and had the same impression, very sad to see these places in the shape there in
Mr. Chris:Congratulations to you on your last or final video today’s from Chinatown, Waikiki Beaches, Honolulu, Hawaii to shows these amazing places, people, cultures, societies, history, etc. in January of 2024❤❤❤
There's actually a lot more to see on the island outside of waikiki/Alamoana area. Ever tried some traditions Hawaiian food? Or visit the west side of the island? Lots of amazing local spots. Would love to show you guys in the future I can recommend
Ala Moana
Bueno Manana Hermano. Hope you’re being safe man! If ya need me, use the bat signal. 😂
Thanks brother! Appreciate you always commenting on the haters too lol same ones everytime
@@Travelwithchris f them bro! Keep em coming.
Hawaii’s Government Motto is, “Pay us Big Money, or go on the streets or Elsewhere!”
Thanks for keeping it real Chris. It's the harsh reality
