Great video Travis. i like the fact you add additional backup details like RTO, RPO, VSS etc so we get a more complete understanding of the Azure Backup functionality (take note PluralSight this stuff is important to know when explaining a new topic)
That's awesome. Although this type of content is already out there on the web, I love your explanations and walkthroughs!! Can't wait for the next videos thanks
@19:36 - when you restore that VM, it has all the info & SID of the currently running VM. so, how does one deal with that, if you just want to test the recovery? - the recovered vm is going to get a new ip-address, but have the same dns name, and azure is going to register the recovered VM as the old name.
Great video, thanks. Just one question: why don't you want to restore the machine to the same storage account? You said it was so you can delete it later and because you don't want to restore it to the same storage account the original server was on... but why? Can you not still delete it later regardless to which storage account it's in?
This video is slightly outdated. There is now a new option under networking, public or private access. Would you go the private route? There is much to configure though.
I have created an azure VM snapshot for OS disk, before I install the OS updates for instant restore if in case any issues with updates, Now the VM has no issues with the OS updates, So now I want to delete the snapshot that I took before patch, So deleting this snapshot will effect source disk? and what are the things i have to take care before delete the snapshot?
Hi if I have a hard disk for data and i connect this disk to windows server VM, this hard disk is include in the backup? greetings from Mexico PD. I learn so much with you videos and courses! you are great
Thanks! Data disks are part of the Azure VM Backup but if you add the disk after enabling Azure Backup double check to make sure it's included. The temp drive is not backed up.
Was gonna use it then I just can’t believe how slow this thing is. I first thought making a domain and transferring, but I was too lazy so thought azure was a good option and now I m tired of waiting. It just doesn’t move. Reminded me of windows 95 or something. Is that the region that I selected was bad?
In the last section you showed how you can delete the backup vault, but you didn't actually do it. I tried and got a Vault Deletion Error that stated there were backup items in soft deleted state in the vault that would be deleted in 14-days of the delete operation. You are then told to try gain when the soft items are deleted. I wanted to try restoring a vm. I backed it up following your instructions. I could create new vm's from the backup as you did, although I don't know why anyone would create a vm with a different name. I deleted the vm completely, including its IP address, nsg, disks etc and thought I could rebuild it from the backup. Although the recovery ran the vm was not restored. Is that what you would expect?
hi Travis can you help me fix an error that comes from recovering vm Ubuntu 20.04 files after installing all and backing up files, i have a problem with having to install sefact - acl package then continue for files .py of recovery files and it didn't work even though I tried to open allow all ports. log: We are unable to use local port range 5365: 5396 for our communication on this machine It does not show any hard drives from recovery files
Hi this is very informative 👌 just want to know backup recovery service vault protection like soft delete enabled or not on recovery services vault using powershell script
Can you use Azure Backups to backup routers.switches? If so does there have to be a middle man between said switch and Azure? Love your content. Thanks!
Hi Travis . Could you please help in creating video for MABS .. Where we need to backup and recovery the data through MABS .. Because in MARS we cant backup SQL database from On-Premises backup
Hi Travis, i need ur advise on this scenario. I want to backup OnPrem workload(Entire Hyper-V VM) to cloud... MABS requires to deploy a dedicated backup Server on Prem. Is there any solution which doesn't require to have a dedicated Server On Prem and still backup the data to cloud via any agent? Please Advise on this
Yup, using the MARS agent, you can back up your individual servers to an Azure Storage Account. docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/backup/backup-configure-vault
Hi, Travis. Great stuff. However, when you are describing something can you please go little bit slow and try to show in picture. this will make more interesting.
Thank you for saving my life, if not for this video I whould live under a bridge RN
Glad to help!

Great job! Was very thorough, while keeping it simple.
Great explanation. Very easy to follow. Thank you Travis!
@19:36 - when you restore that VM, it has all the info & SID of the currently running VM.

- the recovered vm is going to get a new ip-address, but have the same dns name, and azure is going to register the recovered VM as the old name.
@22:08 - you have test1 & test3 running at the same time, they have different ip-address, but they should have same dns name & SID.
Test recoveries are done in an isolated VNet without connectivity to the production network.
@@Ciraltos how you isolating the VNet & prevent connectivity to the production network in Azure?
@@Ciraltos can it isolate from azure service like the automatic dns in AADDS?
aka Entra ID DS !!!
@@Ciraltos @20:02 - you said it's the same for both VM (test01 & test03), yes?
Thank you for your time and effort!
My pleasure!
Thanks for explanation. Greetings from Poland.
Sir , please share complete azure backup & recovery series
Great Explanation and in-depth Analysis . Subscribed !!!
Awesome, thank you!
Thank you very much sir,
Now I am very confident in this topic
thanks for this amazing informative video

Great video tutorial, good explanation, excellent work, much appreciated!
Thank you!

Awesome explanation, a question though - how do we ideally see the file-system consistency? any pre-req for getting it?

Nice job man!
What is the diff between standard backup vs on-prem/VM backup?

how to calculate backup cost for Azure
Hi this is very informative 👌 just want to know backup recovery service vault protection like soft delete enabled or not on recovery services vault using powershell script
simple and clear, thanks for sharing :)
Good video but difficult to see the details at times. You need some software to zoom in to make this clearer. I’m using an iPad.

Where do you get your t-shirts form?
Some from events, the one in this video was from MS Ignite. I also order from Shirtsbyshane.com
I didn't understand the difference between site point recovery and azure backup!
