You could never go wrong with having too many reference pieces, I know I need more!😂 Script is one thing I always dread doing, I'm a tribal/mandala loving girl, black and grey wash with a splash of color is always the most gorgeous pieces to me.
Joanna I must agree with you, people keep saying how hard realistic tattooing is, but I reckon script isn't easy by any means! Especially if you have a client that insists on wanting a particular font that is just too small to work! But you try telling them. That is one of the most valuable thing I lurnt by spending time working in a studio, you are always better to turn down a tattoo, then attempt something that you know isn't going to work, and it coming back to bite you! 👍
Hi first time on the channel, im looking to get my first proper tattoo done and was looking into getting a tattoo book to have a good design to pick from would this be a good idea?
I think you should check shops and artists that makes something that you like. Book should be something with variety of styles otherwise you might get a book in one style and that might be not your thing. Start by checking shops and then you can go there for a consultation and take it from there.
@@TattooShopTalk thanks for the reply my man! Ive been looking at different books through websites to try get an idea of a good design, Ill take your advice though, thanks.
Hi, and thanks for another great video. After watching this video I went on line to look for those Saylor Jerry flash books, I almost collapsed at the price! The cheapest I could find the one with the yellow cover was £400 second hand on Amazon, if you want it new, it is just over £1500!!! Do you have any idea of the total value you have in that set of books? Just like yourself, I love the saylor Jerry tattoo designs and they always seem to stand the test of time, maybe one day if I win the lottery I will buy the set, Lol.😆.
@@JurisDaugulis The one's I found where by Ed Hardy, so I believe that Ed must be the publisher? I have just brought the tattoo source book, the one with the black cover. Originally £20 new, but I managed to get it in a sale for £5.50 new! You just have to keep your eyes open for bargains.
Xam the spaniards latest books is the bomb. For neotraditional/traditional tattooing. Always when i find a problem in my designs, i take that book out and look how he has solved something similar. It was 75€ or something, A5 size, but really thick. At the moment, I am saving money for studio renovations, but as soon that is gonna buy lots of stuff from website www.tattooflashcollective.com , as european, the post fees from murica cand get huge, so they have the flash and sketchbooks digitaly, so that makes them lot cheaper and still i can go to copyprinthouse to make the prints out of them.

I bought the sailor Jerry books as a pack when I first started my apprenticeship. Best 450$ I've ever spent.
You are awesome, thanks for sharing!
Anyone else notices the skull implant thing on the back of his hand? That is gnarly!
I found the salor Jerry books used on Amazon over $1000 for it
Then I will definitely stick to my books. Or???? Hmmm
I scored SJ’s Book 2 off EBay today 🤘🏻 $100, I was throwing my money at the screen 😂 I’m stoked on that deal.

Anrijs straume!! Awesome too.. amazing artist..
Hey Jani why don't you upload tattoo time lapse videos? Like really close ups? 😉💪
It’s always best to focus on a tattoo than filming it. At some point we will do more videos of tattooing itself
LOL, I like that little yellow one
Yellow one is pure gold
Juris Daugulis Oh, I can afford that since I’m filthy rich (oh, I think I took that too literal lol... jk mode)
The sailor Jerry books are over 500$ on Amazon. Just a heads up 👍
I was surprised about the price. I luckily got them second hand
@@TattooShopTalk that's a huge stroke of luck!

Thanks. Never thought of buying books in digital format but then again- these I have decorating my shelf and I have them all in my IPad
It’d be about 2-5 thousand US dollars just for the sailor jerry books:(
Prices on Sailor Jerry books have gone up like crazy
Sick video, also where the fuck can I buy that shirt from?!
Thanks. And all the links are in description . Shirt is from froststreetwear
