- Speed is one of the ratings in 2K12 that has no value. Everyone runs at the same speeds. Fast players need to run much faster than they do now and the slower players need to be slowed down. Big men should not be able to keep up on fast breaks. 93 speed should be noticeably faster on the court than players with 60 and below ratings.

to be honest on hall of fame they dont make it more competitive they make the game cheat more i played hall of fame the otha night thinkin i would play a high speed competitive game but no i was wrong instead they make a LAST PLACE team outscore me 11-0 in the first these games just aint like they used to be smh
Speed is affected by difficulty. You play on Hall of Fame I think, so your opponents' stats are increased (including speed).

I totally agree and yet there's still much more to be fixed.
Like, whenever the opposing player is open, he WON'T miss, like, never! That's impossible.
The other day, Perkins nailed a 17 footer, simply because he was open. That DOES NOT happen IRL, he would never attempt a 17 footer because he was open.
Shot selection is a major issue aswell, it's like it doesn't matter the player and how low his atributes are, he can nail any shot because he's open.

This is true. Players with 25 speed aren't really that noticably slow. And the computer will almost always catch up with you on a fast break, or steal any pass thrown on a fast break.

Another problem with NBA 2K is how I pick a 3 PT. Specialist , i'll be WIDE open and shoot with a perfect release and still miss. 2K needs to fix this ASAP.
on those fast breaks when they catch up to u. Thats where u have to do a spin move

nba2k12 has this magnet concept. Like at times with defense or when you dont' have the ball, they like to magically attract you to another player.
But I also agree with others about sliders. Same shit with madden when they stiffened up the run game. Adjust it so it doesn't feel like Reggie bush prior to going to Miami when running and being able to blow up between the holes.
Nba 2k12 needs an acceleration attribute. As well as the ability to throw the ball out in front of your teammate on fast breaks so he can go get it.
There is another side to this the other players take bigger footsteps and it slows u down to dribble the ball and catch it but I don't think 2k would bother to dig that deep

I thought I was the only person who felt this way about 2K12.. Its like attributes are screwed and so is the referee calls from team penalty shots, out of bounds, and other turnovers.. I really hope they step 2K13 up bcuz if not i'm gettn NBA LIVE 13.

the funny this is that when u have a very slow speed rating, u slow like a turtle, so the speed rating is really just only applying on the player and the speed rating of the cpu is really just a decoration
The reason it's not working is because Speed is based off of that Sprint you do when you pull the trigger when you first get the ball, Not the whole time.
I think today I had my best game :). I got 37 points 9 rebounds 17 assists 16 steals in 48 minutes, and we smoked the other team 115-59. :O
Can someone please tell me which is the best shooting form and the best shot base for My Player? It would really help
@MrRobertharvey This. The game hax you down in relation to the rest on harder difficulties. On rookie you can out run anyone with like 40 character speed.

chris smoove is smart when he gets beat he just backs away to reset the play but when im in that position i just try and dunk it and i go to a bump animation with no fouls
the way i do it on my player is go through that teams page under headlines and look up the last game
i think its the difficulty, im always beating/catching up to defenders on my fastbreaks - never in this situation
Did you ever take into consideration that the speed of the pass was probably why you didn't excel at your fullest capacity?
Yeah I've had like 2 or 3 different people shoot it from like half court when the shot clock was winding down and they made it and it didn't even touch the rim.

Every player sprints the same speed sadly. Speed and quickness only come into play when you're trying to conserve turbo/stamina.
What's even more unrealistic is Oden making that play without injuring himself

not only speed is a joke but the stats. I got 99 mid, 3s, close and shoot 50% all the time while my opponent just below 80 and shoot like 70-80% with DEFENSE! damn 2k!
That sucks! I don't have 2k12, but I remember in 2k11 the first thing I got to 99 was speed, and I DESTROYED people with it.
There might be a setting that allows you to increase the difference in speed ratings to where higher speed ratings are actually faster.
I agree. My player has handles of 90 and off hand is 85 and my guy averages 7 turnovers a game. Also I cannot run a player down from behind like they can do me.
how come when your player is 66 speed you can't keep up with the cpu in this situation and the cpu can keep up with you

These games used to have a correct physics system and used to be a lot of fun! There was a basket ball game out for PlayStation one (im sure it looks and plays like trash now!) but the people were actually tall ,the court was huge and you actually had to bend down like a real human to block a shot! This stuff nowadays looks like arena basketball everyone's all smashed together and I joke with my kids about the "magic" button defense just push y and everybody jumps simultaneously!
aye ever try the shoes they have speed and quickness shooting 3 and dunking but i get tied of the same old dunk they need new skills in 2k12 lets hope 2k13 is way better

This, like many other horrible aspects of other sports video games, is done to prevent online cheesing. They are willing to sacrifice realism and simulation just so they dont have to hear as many people bitch about cheesing online. Too bad theres more people who are angry about the lack of realism.
its not stupid, just because you're open doesn't mean the shot is cash, do you watch basketball? no one is automatic, just check the best career percentage (steve kerr) and you will realise that people don't make 10 out of 10 shots just bbecause they are open

maybe its because of the height of the guys. Dudes with longer legs cover WAAYY more ground with less steps
they were so focused on the gameplay graphics that they forgot about the sliders...
Have you tested it out recently? I just got the game like about a week ago, and I don't want to use points on speed if this is the result.

In NBA2k12 Lebron James cant crossover and blow past David Lee at the top of the key for some reason, as soon as I take off to the right or left David Lee will jump over and stop Lebron James in his tracks
its becuz when u call for the ball, u slow down to catch the pass and when u have the ball, anyone guarding u might be faster than u

Chris Smoove needs to be a consultant or part of the developer team for 2k13. End of story.
oden's secret: constant injuries
It is acctually because science is put into games. When a smaller guy say 5' 9" is compared to a larger guy 6' 5" the shorter person has better speed but yet the taller guy has longer legs which equals larger strives that acctually make it to where he is able to stick with you or even move faster because a short guy does have speed advantage but is stoped when it comes to how far his strive is (distance inbetewen the two feet when running) just think about it and you will see.
you know, I noticed that too, in 2k11 it was a lot easier to get those breakout lay-ups. Too easy. So makers of 2k12 probably changed that.
It might be because he is a lot taller than your character and his stride is bigger.

Also, watch the left elbow starting @ 2:08, what the hell is homie doing? What are all those steps and changes of direction? Who moves like that? Then @ 2:10 he's standing, two feet planted, on the 3PT line, and starts to slide backwards before his feet start moving. Again, it's subtle and instantaneous, but it's there. Ppl are covering ground that they shouldn't be covering. Ppl shouldn't be moving before they actually start moving. It messes up evrything else n mkes it look lke a ratings issue
i think its because of your stamina. if you run to much you lose your stanima and get slower.
I think when you have the ball you run slower than when you dont

2K Logic = The longer the legs the faster the player....
My guy is 92 speed 99 quicknesd and 6'5" he a pg and is crazy fast also as a pg set ur controls to alternate a and use spin save up for mj dunk package way worth it

I never had a problem with speed. My players like Russel Westbrook always out-run centers like Tyson Chandler.
I think speed is patched now. I started a center and he was UBER slow but i upgraded his speed to around 80 and it greatly improved it.
all tell everybody why there catching up to smoove it has nothing to do with default or simulation its because speed is when your running a play and explode to the hoop quickness is like AI with the quick crossover its because you need to upgrade hustle because if your on a fast break you need hustle not speed or quickness you need hustle
lol that actually makes no sense, in every sport, tennis, basketball, etc, shorter players always move faster, bigger strides is realistic, but the speed of those strides are not realistic, the shorties supposed to move em legs way faster.
They need to add threshold speed like madden

The fastbreak mechanism is not even functional in the game, they just make idiotic pass or shots. That's why my association team never play fast breaks.

I have a problem in 2k12. I've created a guy and he's a point guard and athletic and when i try to shot he starts the animation a bunch of times but doesn't shot. Anyone knowes how to fix it?
i realized that the cpu is faster when on defense then on offense
People chill.... 2k didn't "drop the ball". This game doesn't have many flaws, the problem is that the few flaws it has are really fucking annoying. I play this game a lot and I get frustrated but overall it's fine. And hopefully 2k13 will be beast.
on fastbreak player don't run after you they just glide
