    How can you not like Cody Swanson? The guy is an absolute legend in a race car and it feels like he genuinely appreciates his competitors and all the people around him that help his team.

      yes as they said on social media before the hoosier100 he really is the face of modern silver crown racing, not just the best in the car but does much to help the health of the sport, I know he was nice enough to talk to me afterward at his merch trailor at the hoosier and for spending time hanging out gave me a tee shirt for free and of my choice, for FREE thats 20 something dollers they just gave to me, and after ward at the vogler said to me oh hey I remeber you from carb night and hoosier hundred, I said yea I was trying to say thank you for the tee shirt again when going up to congratulate on the win, and if you look at 3:09 you can see me just for an instant in the pits filming back by the wall on the video here, but as for me I wanted to congratulate Derick Bischak on the podium he has come so close several times over the last 2 years or qualified in the top 5 but stuff always seems to happen to him but not tonight it was one of his nights to shine and hold on, and hes from my neck of indiana by angola where zeb wise is also from, and in the hey days of openwheel in the early days of winged sprints hank lower he was and is as far as I know from angoa he is quite old now though dont know if hes still around but was a fixture in the 80's to 2000's on the sprint and openwheel scene I think for a time held the record here at winchester for fastest speed.
      as for swanson he is like the aj foyt, or john force of silver crown cars hes just that dominant only I dont think he is as ill tempered as anthony joseph foyt, fact I never even seen him get mad but he wasn't happy in the slightest at the pavement hoosier 100 when his oil pump went out and he was light years ahead of everyone else and had to drop out. the only thing for me is hes too good and hes not origionaly from the midwest, or indiana, auto racing is one of the few things we still got that keep us on the map, we are rust belt contry not as bad as some places but many dont think much of the hoosier state cept for transportation corn, carbon steel, or car racing. but fun fact winchester when built was the first purpose built half mile for auto racing, though started out as a track on frank funks property as a motorcycle track in 1914, built as a speedway in 1916 for cars, by the 40's had 45 degree banked turns, only a raceway in the south, the board tracks, and the track in spain were higher and maybe part of monza but the two in europe are not longer raced on, and dont know when the one in the south went out of commission.

    Did i understand correctly that second place all time silver crown wins is only 26(39-16)?
    I take that to mean that this series doesnt go back to the champ car days...?
    Either way, its a pleasure to see another great race

    • @usacracing3402
      @usacracing3402  Год назад +2

      That's not quite right. Second-place all-time in Silver Crown is Jack Hewitt at 23. Kody Swanson has 16 more with 39.
      USAC Silver Crown history begins in 1971 when the championship dirt division was separated from the "Indy Car" trail.
      Champ Car history from 1970 and before belongs to Indy Car.

      Wow, that goes back aways. Must have been fantastic to see it in person.
      I got on a you tube jag about Langhorne. That place was incredible. Never would have thought that a pure circle would be so hard on drivers.
