Christopher Pyne announces retirement from politics | ABC News

Christopher Pyne will not contest the May election, saying he has been in Federal politics for 26 years and it is time for change.
Mr Pyne has held the seat of Sturt in Adelaide, South Australia, since 1993. He has been the most senior South Australian cabinet minister since Federation, and Sturt's first cabinet minister.
He retires as Defence Minister, but has also held the roles of minister for defence industry, minister for industry, innovation and science, and leader of the house.
He says he will remain as Defence Minister until the election, to ensure continuity in this important role.
