  • We had SIX high temperature heat detectors activate in hot attics on three different panels today. The panels are all ES-50X with firmware 01.02.008. Detectors were a mix of H355HT and H365HT. These detectors are supposed to go into alarm at 190 degrees Fahrenheit. The high today was about 90 degrees in Naperville, IL. It is supposed to be hotter tomorrow. We have this setup with ES-50X panels in 30+ occupied buildings! I can't wait for more dispatches and angry association and AHJ calls. Fire-Lite, this is an emergency and needs fixed NOW!

I would honestly would go with Rate of Rise heat detectors. But hey, that's just me

Maybe your heat detectors are rate of rise heat detectors

I believe the detector says IT can not be in an ambient over 130 something. Try a conventional heat detector with an addressable module, not in the attic.

It permanently activated because you popped it

Not correct. This is an addressable detector, not a disposable one time use detector.

If the issue after your most recent video persists maybe consider installing System Sensor high temp fixed heats with mini mods on the back. Ones that are not rate of rise and give that a shot.

That would certainly work but the problem is we have about 150 different residential units, all privately owned, that we would need to access. Huge job and lots of $. We can't afford that from our pocket after installing something properly that should work.

@@jaddwooka having a similar problem with the H355HT and we are removing them completely from the attic as they are not required by Mass Building Code. Just curious if this was resolved by updating firmware?

Could be a bug in the firmware on the panel. Just my guess.

That looks like an older detector model. You should replace with a newer model

I was in two additional attics in a different building just before this one with H365HT detectors, the newer style ones and they had false tripped also. Even though that is the older model, it was newly installed from a box about a year ago and should not have activated in that temperature.

Hi Drew Have you resolved the problem? I'm having the same exact issue? I keep getting a Test F fault on the panel for both heat sensors in attic

@@jcrackbmw If you're getting a Test F, maybe you need to update the firmware. They had that problem shortly after the panels were released in 2018. They programmed the first firmware so that if the HT detector was over 120°F or so, it would show that Test F. It didn't make any sense to me what their engineers were thinking... OF COURSE YOU"RE GOING TO PUT HT"S IN HOT PLACES... DUH! They updated the firmware and that issue was fixed. Maybe these false trips now is related. They're working on it. I've had lots of contact with their engineering team and we've got temperature monitoring in several attics right now to hopefully detect a temperature pattern resulting in the false trips.
