I watch your channel as I enjoy seeing the things you do, the places you go and people you meet in the progression of your golf. And the only coaching I'd absolutely watch on your channel is the stuff where you're the pupil - e.g. the superbly facinating vid of your sessions with Liam
so often on this channel is a new path, a new plan, a refocus... wish you could get a vibe going and stick to it for a while... e.g. even while saying you're going to start coaching in person you say you're excited about it but actually you cut a frustrated figure James.. wishing you clarity and happiness man
i dont know about anyone else but i watch your channel for the personalities on the channel, look at the rise of bob does sports, just mates being themselves and having a laugh. i personally would rather watch you, steve, konig and flower do a scramble than the pga tour.
@@GolfJamesWiltshire As long as the players are 100% trying to win the matches it’s awesome, especially with the funny banter ! Like those matches you & the hilarious legend Steve Surry were playing against people ! 🙏👍
Vloging is what you do best. Watching and listening when you play with Steve Surry, I pick up a lot of help with course strategy, and great content with Konig, but please ABF (anyone but flower!)
Your 'in the moment' coaching is pretty much the only coaching I take in (from any channel). Vlog away and just pitch in with tips when you feel it naturally. Best of both worlds.
Definition Jealous feeling angry or unhappy because somebody you like or love is showing interest in somebody else exemple They are very jealous of their good reputation (= they do not want to lose it).
Dude the last thing people need is another coaching voice in their head, taking them down another rabbit hole. Any South African viewers here that are members of some of the top 10 courses in the country please hit James up with an invite!
The best method of putting practice I ever found is basically spending a few hours on the putting green with a couple of mates playing 9 holes over and over for money. Not big money, it's not about gambling, it's about keeping you interested and putting with a purpose and a bit of pressure. And it's fun.
Totally agree, the vlogs and the matches are fantastic. During those if you can give a few tidbits on technique/feels/etc thats a bonus! Been watching since the days of Gorilla James cameos on Crossfield's channel!
James you 100% on the mark mate. That's why I wanted Ricky on the channel because he brings a lot of laughter and jokes which makes the golf content so much more enjoyable to watch. I also really liked the lessons you did with Liam as it actually helped my golf game a ton and my understanding of the golf swing that I probably would have never got from anyone else. And of course Flower is a fan favorite with that wicked slice hahaha.
James your Vlogs are cool , but I also enjoy watching you practice and talking through what you're doing , like with the putting section of this vid , it's more natural than trying to teach. Keep up the great work 👊😎⛳
Think the other comments have mentioned most of it, but I personally watch you for the people you have on the channel its entertaining. I do miss the full tournament rounds but understand its probably not the best place to do a vlog then. The coaching stuff imo is going out of fashion on the technical side of things anyway. Coaching from the lights of Steve Kon and others where they talk about shots/course management/mental is really good to watch.
Can you please do a video on a whole week of your workout rutine for golf ? Like how many sets, reps and pauses inbetween sets Ive never seen a video fully breakdown, what a full week looks like and with how much rest inbetween sets etc
Stick with it James! If you want to do some coaching stuff, find a buddy / double act to work with and or just show us when you visit coaches? Your the natural
this is the only youtube golf channel I consistently watch anymore mate. Keep doing what you've been doing all along. Vlogs, Matches, snooker references. Bish bash bosh seeyalatahh
For me James's channel gives us something different from the main stream yt. Honestly you can find vids on behind the scenes at the PGA tour etc which is great of course but there isn't anyone out there doing what you do. The vlogs with top top players some that have been on the tour some in a similar position to yourself or just in a break out year. It's mega interesting stuff imo watching the new faces, characters and personalities unfold in the logs. Also watching the work your doing off the course traveling to SA, adjustments you make to your swing and clubs changes etc.. all unique content in a saturated world of YT golf. Of course the tips and advice along the way is always welcome and appreciated. And don't take this the wrong way but personally speaking I love just clicking on the vid and getting a surprise. ( And I mean that in the sense of the above. Mondays vid might be a match against one of guys from SA then we'd might be you doing a speed work session and so on. Kind of spontaneous vids and for me that makes them genuine)
the best mix of content you make is both the 'trying to improve your personal game' vlogs, tournaments, travelling, getting coaching, the grind and so on.. and then the entertainment game play vlogs with whoever you find to play against. but the vlog style is the common feature, the channel is you mate, the core viewers are following you. Weave tips in informally if you fancy it, but don't forget there's wisdom in all the rounds you play, plenty for the rest of us to learn from your mistakes and gains.
You need to coach, inside your vlogs if this is the direction you want to go. This Vlog is by far your most consistent and best videos so far. (Exactly like on the putting green - just explaining what you are doing) Open up on the playing rounds, analyze the lie more, analyze the shot selection more, analyze the miss more when it makes sense and in turn i think your golf would get better again. If the questions people ask align with the troubles you find on the golf course, win win. If it doesn't they are still watching and getting involved, and if they really want help, that's what the online lessons are for imo
James, you've played with golfers from all levels of tours - I'm curious as to what sets them apart.. is it consistency, distance, short game..? I've heard Monte Scheinblum say that at the highest levels the difference is in mid to long irons...(?). Whats your take..? Would appreciate your insight.
Good call. Coaching is fine, as it goes, but there are enough coaching channels out there and not too many stream of consciousness golf blogs with a bit of personality. The battle with a lot of things - definitely golf - is to disengage the brain and let it flow. A few offbeat personalities here and there and John's your uncle Bob :)
Great way to blend your instructional content is to just simply document these grind practice sessions. Putting is looking great. That digital reader helped me a lot with my off-season aimpoint stuff. Gym grind 💪 🔥 Keep killing it
The last thing i need in my feed is clickbait. Your use of the "other" tubers in your thumbnail and in past vids from you just feels desperate. Sorta been with u since Gorilla crossfield days but im out. Unsubscribe.
James, look for gimmicks!!! Ricks channel blew up when he started testing crazy golf clubs and golf balls. Throw a few of those videos in there. Non golfers are interested in seeing if a new golf ball will travel 500yds because of a new technology or if crazy, golf clubs actually work. Your retention and Click-Through Rate will improve. Your audience becomes much wider with those videos because you're not limited to just golfers being interested. It will have more potential to get more views. More views more the Algorithm likes you. Videos like that are interesting to all subscribers from all walks of life, if you make them fun and interesting! Humans are very curious creatures, we need to know the outcome of those gadgets in those tests. All the best mate.
Using Shiels and Finch as click bait to get more views is beyond desperate. At the moment working in a Pro shop selling Mars bars is calling. You're changing your goals and RUclips ideas every 5 minutes. "5 years or bust" I assume it's "bust". You will automatically assume I'm a hater but I'm not! I'm just bemused that you can't see the obvious.
I think it’s funny. It’s challenging the top end of RUclips golf. I can’t wait to see what happens when James returns home. Hopefully more stuff with Liam & course videos
Let’s be honest here, anything that slates Rick or Finch is worth clicking onto. They are awful, surrounded by sycophants and are ‘growing’ the game in all the wrong ways, 5 hour rounds with courses becoming full of hacks, much like Rick Shiels
@ true. Big Rick employing his mate who takes a wage to give him reach arounds. I can’t stand Matt fryer or that wee daft cunt Alex with the big goofy out turned left foot. I don’t watch their videos or comment on them

youtube coaching videos are a waste of time anyway, over saturated market full of boring content that I cant see how it would help the average punter, it just adds another conflicting opinion since every coach has their own take on it and varies as they evolve themselves. Not trying to be negative just offering my thoughts as a viewer of many golf vlogging channels who try add coaching vids and ends up fu$A@ it up or trying to justify why it will be better than the others when it never is.
You playing with Flower, Konig, the map etc is exactly what is great content. As well as you taking on low handicap players on their home course.
