I thought the idea was that those affected by Infinite's powers were the only ones who would be effected (affected?). Since Eggman didn't want to die, he would have had Infinite only use his powers on the Sonic Forces. (Other dimension/imaginary/whatever) sun comes down, the Forces minds go "well, were being horribly fried by the sun, time to die", Eggman goes free due to not being under Infinite's power.
The thing is, Infinite's power has an AOE (Area of Effect), it can't hit specific people. If what you said was true, Eggman wouldn't have needed to flee with Infinite when sucking Sonic, and indirectly your Avatar, into Null Space.
And then Sonic comes back, trying to hide the pain from what he had just seen. Crying to sleep every night, realizing the hurt could be taken away, if he took his life.

You know what I just realized something. With the inclusion of Mighty and Ray being playable in Sonic Mania the game has basically turned into Sonic Megamix version VI without Shadow. It's also kinda funny that some of the people that worked on Megamix worked on Mania.
