    It doesn't't bother or make me upset when she can't speak native language well but the most inspired thing is she's trying to discovery our classic music and melody which is almost vanish nowadays whereas some artists are trying go compose new melody with meaningless lyrics which just trend for months.
    Respect her 👐
    And too ppl who disappoint or upset since she can't speak Khmer. TBH she can speak it but now fluency like English.
    Be open please don't be the frog in the well because there many native who live america and can't their mother language.

    So sad to see most people in here get upset with this young girl who has a poor mother language. You people is lucky to have her a world top brilliant musician to represent and serve your country. Don't be too much political correctness, it will harm your country and get nothing but worse.

    I don't understand why people are bashing her for not speaking Khmer. Were you bi-lingual, and able to sing and play an instrument like her at 18 years old? It's not easy. She's still relatively young and goes to school where everyone speaks English, of course she's going to pick up English. The music program flourishes in the English language, so to excel she has to improve her English. It wouldn't make sense for her to come all the way to America and not learn/speak English. Remember, Sin Sisamuth went abroad and picked up Western influences and that contributed to his greatness. As for her choosing to speak in English, I think it has to do with her comfort level in expressing certain things. Not everything can be expressed in two languages the same way.

    One thing I find interesting about SOME Khmer teenagers. They claimed to love Khmer, her culture and country. They dream of one day go back to Cambodia to contribute their knowledge and know-how; but the fact is they want to one day go back to their native country to show-off. She is not unique; there are pretty of Khmer teenagers in the US and those ones who just stepped of the air plane are just like her. Some forget their native language as soon as they stepped of the air plane. Some of them pretend so hard not to understand Khmer. They always give me some BS excuses. Speaking Khmer is one of the basic forms that one can do to help preserve Khmer identity. This interview should be conducted in Khmer with English captions. Because is geared toward Khmer audience. Forgive me if I'm wrong but this is my opinion only!

      Mobimobipopo I moved to Australia when I was 2months old, I could confidently say that I am fluent in Khmer. I don't understand why she can't speak Khmer at all when she grow up in Cambodia. no excuses

    • @Mobimobipopo
      @Mobimobipopo 7 лет назад +3

      You're right, it is of no excuse that she can't speak Khmer fluently. But if you saw the kids in the international schools there, you would understand. The girl speaks Khmer in a French accent and studying in an American high school and college doesn't help much. She's in the US alone, I assumed, unless you're here with families and surrounded yourself with Cambodian friends, It would be hard to practice speaking Khmer.
