great tutorial on the tony pena knot. can't seem to get it right but highlighting tension on the tag end while pulling the main line might do the trick, will try!
Just learn to tie this knot. It’s pretty badass. I use to tie the FG knot. The Tony Pena is a lot easier and way more quicker. The knot itself flows through the guides without you noticing it. Great knot. I won’t ever go back to the FG. Thanks WestCoast! P.S. the FG is a wider knot because you have to weave around the braid. Making the the knot bulky. Trust me, I can tie an FG with my eyes close. Tony Pena is the way to go. Hands down.
This is one of my favorite knots! I tie this and the RP knot also known as Alberto and improved Albright
that double san diego is sweet. never thought of doubling it. Thanks!
Your very welcome! It's pulling power is crazy, I have landed 60lb tuna 30lb test with that knot 🙌🏻
Nice 👍 easy they way you showed it done ..
Thank you

Tuan Hoang exactly! U hit it on the nail, this is why it's my go to. I'm glad the Tony Peña knot is working well for you man!
great video love the close up thank you !
Thanks!
Great knots although for braid to mono or flouro I prefer the FG knot, just as strong if not stronger and it is thinner.
tunakiller1 the fg knott sticks for me when I cast it through the guides I have had really good luck with the Tony Peña knot
Have you tried e Yucatan Knot?? Nice connection 🤙 I also tie the GT knot👊👊
do you use the double SD knot when you want to flyline live baits? it seems a bit bulky if i'm using a smaller size 2 hook.
Depends on what I'm fishing for, on a #2 hook I probably wouldn't
Knot should be just as strong with half the amount of wraps coming back down with the braid.
Mike totally! However, I tie this many wraps cuz I like the way it goes throw the guides when I cast it. 🤙🏻
@@WestCoastTuna Yeah it does stack the wraps up tightly. I may have to switch from my FG/Alberto to this one. Thanks Ken
