_I hung around with the thugs and even though they sold drugs, they showed a young brutha love_ That part always gets me. It really makes you think about how kids end up in gangs. They see it like a group, a family where they can get the love they aren't getting at home. It's sad because it's a trap and they either end up dead or in jail.
I see your point but even Dennis Roadman lived with drug dealers but he never did drugs nor did he do drugs during that time, most drug dealers become drug dealers because of their environment, when they see you talented or are smart, they’ll actually advise you not to get involved and stick with your talent or smarts. Remember no Eazy E drug money they’ll be no N.W.A

Great thoughtful reaction. I like when you told your mom, "You are appreciated." Even if the listener can't relate with the story or life in the song, everybody could walk away with appreciation for their mom.
I was just listening to this song yesterday. Reminds me of when me and my mom were kicked out and had no where to go, we stopped on the side of the road on the reservation (im native), going from town to town looking to stay on someones couch. She started crying and all i could think was to play some tupac cause it always gave her hope. We ended up staying at her dealers house for that night. She always said tupac was my real dad, love tupac
Reading your quick story nearly brought tears to my eyes. Hope you and your mom are in a better situation now. I think he wrote the song for struggles like yours. May the future be yours. PEACE AND BLESSINGS

I had a devotion and appreciation of this song back in 93 -94 during the time when I worked at Spaghetti Warehouse at he West End in Dallas, Memories! Most of this cd is classic!!
This was the first single not the third . I was very touched the first time I heard 2pac's lyrics on the track. I then added keys and suggested the hook which I sang on. I also had a high school friend Charles Jefferson play bass on the track. Unfortunately I never met Pac due to him being locked up when I worked on the Album in the studio in Burbank California.

I'm not too into Rap music but this song has a catchy tempo and a melody added to it.The lyrics are straightforward and has a message. It is like storytelling. Trey, I always like how you set up the song with researched information, and your comments are solid and straight on, and your mother did really good at reviewing and commenting with very good insight. He got the bloods and the crips to come to a truce at one time. Sure you would rather there not be gangs, wars, violence at all. But he knew what was possible and what wasn't(mb in time if he was still here). He would go to poverty stricken neighborhoods and make promises. He'd say things like, if theirs no violence for x amount of time.. He would come with some other artists and throw FREE concerts. He could communicate, relate and unite people from all different backgrounds. He was special, very intelligent and had a gift from God. The things he was doing was very unique and so far ahead of his time. So much so that people wanted to knock him down a notch. He was SETUP for a rape that HE DIDN'T COMMIT. He had that type of an IMPACT on people. So much so.. That after almost 25 years(23+) people still talk about him today! The conspiracy theories make it even more intriguing.. He changed his name to Makiavelli right before he was killed.. Like I said I know this may not interest you.. I know you were just doing a review on someone before your time. But he wasn't your ordinary entertainer, rapper or movie star. I think with the detail you went into in your review.. You'd appreciate him that much more.. If you knew what he stood for and what he was about. But either way good review bro! From a Christian but huge Tupac fan! I don't idolize anyone but I do respect what he tried to accomplish.

Tupac Shakur was setup several times as well as murdered. He was only on this Earth for 25 YEARS yet done so much. He said "I might not change the world".. "But I guarantee, I will spark the brain of someone who will." I believe If he was alive today the world would be a BETTER PLACE.
Hey Troy we appreciate you taking the time to comment as this was one of the most thoughtful comments we have ever got and it definitely intrigues us to look into him more. Thanks brother!!!
@@ReactionsToTheClassics Yw and I think you'd be intrigued. He was so ahead of his time and done so much in so little time. He knew he didn't have long on this earth and didn't waste a min of his time. He was as ambitious as he was intelligent.
I lived this song

Ya’ll gotta do this again but with the video.
Hopefully someday!
" Dear Mama " is the greatest rap ballad from a rapper (Tupac), just like the song "something " is the greatest ballad from a rock group ( The Beatles).
Thanks for watching John!
