- I've got a single malt scotch whisky from the Glenmorangie distillery in the highlands today. This is their famous 12 year old sherry-influenced Lasanta. I'll taste it and give you my thoughts. Cheers!

Even when I'm already familiar with the whisky being discussed, I'll still watch for the jokes and deadpan delivery. Never change.
Me too! Geoff is awesome!!😎
Thanks for reviewing Geoff
Lasatha... 🤔...darn, that's been a long time ago. Only thing I remember is that I wasn't i pressed (and it must have been in my sherry ... err... tolerating period.
Let's say I'll give it a pass.

Can't wait for Ardbeg Doritos 😅 looking forward for glanmorangie series. Thanks for review 😊
These are $50 at my local store so I’ll add this to my wish list. I don’t like the new branding and labeling.
GMO is my other fave fodder as base for blending my all-american oak vat.
Several year ago I heard the brand manager for Glenmorangie for the USA say that all the core range start off as the original. At 10 years they then are moved to the different barrels for the different expressions. The best casks might stay to become the 18 year. The base for all of them is the same.
makes sense. I'm not a fan at all of the 10yo. I bought the Quinta Ruban on a whim, and the 10 year old base profile came through.
I vote sulfuric acid! They’ve tried NFTs; what’s to stop Ardbeg from making Arbdeg Doritos?!
I can still find this for about $50-55. Super stuff IMO ✌️
I only had the old label version from the taste set, but I liked it. Prices are between 45 and 50€ were I live.
I’m not a massive expert on whisky tasting notes and this Sherry cask whisky is the first one where I actually taste the chocolate notes as well as everything else. Makes me wonder if they’re using chocolate malt (possibly the same stuff they use for the Signet)
You deliver your lines dry like a desert personified! I'm falling apart just because of the blinding challenge ... And then the "sentence" right after it! Wow!
Having myself stitched, screwed and glued back together again, I am commending you for this series - even though I will probably not buy much from this distillery in the foreseeable future.
Caramilk bars!...been a while since you trick or treated in 🇨🇦
It has indeed. Top-tier chocolate bar, though. 🥃
The Lasanta and the Quinta Ruban are two of the best whiskies from both a taste and value proposition.
At your price, that's a real bargain. Here in the US, I'm still being asked to pay nearly $60, which is a bit more of a hard sell. Thank for letting us know it's improved, since e a lot of us don't go back to this one. Cheers!
At $56.00 a bottle this is definitely a buy in my area, Thanks.
.They are not really a distillery that I am drawn to, but I wouldn't mind doing a full-line blind tasting.
Nice whisky but expensive , regular price 90$ for sale 75$ !!!
Ouch! It's $54-$57 USD in the NY area
@@GOTAisMe Greeting from Tbilisi ,Georgia ( country). Some whisky here is expensive...
@@lightplays2181 I hear you. Hopefully there are some good options out there for you. We can all use that. Meanwhile we also can be openly jealous of Geoff and those cheap Taiwanese prices he always finds.
@@GOTAisMe we have many good whisky and bourbon with normal price and i have special discount 20% in "whisky hous" branches ,, i'm a whisky club member ))
That’s good compared to Vancouver, Canada! 🇨🇦 $115 before 2 different taxes.
$115 before taxes in BC! Yikes! I will give this Glenmorangie another try at some point! You sold me! I am also really sensitive to overly sweet scotch whiskies! I wish the price was better here! There’s a lot to choose from at that price point! Great review Geoff! Cheers!!🍻
I'm not sure I'd go over $100 for this. A lot of my enjoyment is derived from knowing how affordable it is here, tbh. Maybe sample before you buy. Cheers Christine! 🥃
@@Gwhisky I agree. I won't buy at this price! I got over excited and thought I might! I will get a sample first. I checked and it's even higher than I thought. Way too much. Ridiculous given what's in this price point. Cheers Geoff!!
Is there any whisky that's not ridiculously priced in Canada? This is around $50 everywhere in the US. Even after exchange rates, that's about 70 CAD.
Very interesting. The Nextar and lasanta were the only 2 in the core range I didn’t like. But apparently they have made them both better. This makes me happy!
Glenmo is just solid whisky almost the dessert of scotch whiskies.
Correct Geoff, it is a sentance. Oh, please just use a blindfold, not the acid. We'd miss your pretty eyes! (That nay be the whisky talking) Love your reviews!
You lowballed the score, this is an 88
Where can I get hold of the Ardbeg Doritos please?
Hi Geoff. Still remember this being at 46%. Also as far as I’m aware of the finished core range are all for 10 years in FF and refill ex bourbon casks and finished in their respective casks for two years. In this case the Lasanta was finished in Oloroso and PX. Me, I find this a decent dram. Slàinte Geoff 🥃
Another good video Geoff! Love the jokes. I don't care for Glenmorangie's new design either. This bottle is a bit pricy here for what it is delivering, just under $100 NZD. If I could get it for the equivalent price you are paying, I would probably buy it though. Cheers!
I've always heard that Australia, new Zealand, and Canada have crazy whisky prices, which are only worsened by the exchange rate. Are there any reasonably priced whiskies in New Zealand or do you just have to be extra picky about what you buy there?
@@darlsbarkley3493 We definitely need to be picky and shop around. I've found whiskies that have varied by $40-50 dollars between retailers, which is crazy. Unfortunately, whisky has been increasing in price over the last 2 years due to the Government increasing excise tax on alcohol with most whiskies now about $10-$15 more than they were in 2022. Whisky does tend to be a bit cheaper here than in Australia though. Cheers!
A quick Google search shows that it's £50 ish in the UK. If i see it on offer for around £40-£45 I might pick it up, but there's a lot of competition at that price
It’s around $ 60 in Chicago. I had the previous version and thought it was ok, I never bought another one.
I'm not a fan of heavily peated/smokey whiskeys. I prefer Speyside and Highland. I bought a bottle of Lasanta about 6months ago for $60. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It never made it back into the closet once I opened it. It was also my first Glenmorangie whiskey.
Nice one Geoff, I did try this but not side by side with the old one. I say the same thing to this that I did to the old which is similar to your comment, a nice, well made, tasty, easy sipper whisky. Cheers!
Hi Geoff, very nice review.
You made me curious to your overall video, and your final verdict on the "rebranded" Glenmo.
@7:07 that's kinda young to take shots of crown royal
Interesting! I had a dram of the old bottling in Shanghai and really hated it - and I'm a sherry guy! Perhaps it had gone bad or something. I will be on the lookout for this new bottling. Thanks for the review @gwhisky!
It's a cheap easy sipper. Good for the price but not sure it's worthy of that ever-so-valuable shelf space. 😉

😮
I'm not suggesting you try it but Empirical in Copenhagen do make an experimental distilled Doritos spirit.
Can't wait to see your double host the channel solo
A good Christmas whisky.
Had the 12 Lasanta with the older label in a sample set and thought it was great, even better than the 14 Quinta Rubin.
And yesterday I saw the 12 Lasanta on the shelf in an obscure store and had to pick it up. I blame you. I've been meaning to get a bottle for some time.
This is the only “The Lasanta” that I’ve tasted, and I thoroughly agree with your review! I remember you prefered “The Accord” to the previous “The Lasanta”; how this “The Lasanta” compares to “The Accord”?
It's been a couple years since I had the Accord, but based on memory I'd probably rate them about the same. 🥃
I just poured some to have while watching this video. This isn't my favorite Glenmorangie. Some days I like it, some days I don't (same bottle). Today was a like it day. I prefer the Quinta Ruban. I just got the Signet (too expensive!) but am reserving judgement on that for a bit longer.
There are a lot of whisky that have on and off days. Agree that the Signet is expensive, but I think it's beautiful whisky. Hopefully it'll grow on you. Cheers! 🥃
Seventh!🎉
I can’t talk bad on the la Santa as that’s what got me into scotch about 10 yrs ago…I have a bottle, I don’t pour it much
I like it how Geoff is reviewing a bottle that has about 15% whisky left in it. Let me guess, the review is going to be largely positive...
I didn't like eating broccoli as a kid but I still had to finish it.
Luckily I enjoy this more than broccoli. 😉
Nice video Geoff. Funny you should mention sulfuric acid. A rhyme from childhood - - Johnny was a chemist son, but ain't no more, what Johnny thought was H2O was H2SO4. Cheers.
Dang! It sounds like Glenmorangie is really working to improve their core range lately. The Lasanta is my least favorite of their standard expressions (always found something harsh or out of balance in the flavor profile) but it may be time to give this one another chance. As always, good review! 👍
My Bunnahabhain 12 says lol
Thank you very much for all your videos. I love your sence of humor very much :). I do have the old one and find its an absolute OK whisky. Its neither overly sweet, powerful or complex but it sits right there in the middle as a solid well rounded easy sipping whisky with light sherry notes.
I'd click twice in the like bottom if I could...😄
Some people are greatly attracted by bottoms.😉 Good vid, Geoff, thanks.👍
I was under the impression that all Glenmorangies are Naturally Coloured? Are you sure it's coloured?
Glenmo is usually coloured, I believe.
Wait, you're 40?! I thought you were 30...
Plastic surgery. I've got a great face guy...
