Brock beat Rock at Summerslam 2002 and that title became the Smackdown title. Couple weeks after, HHH did win the world title when he was awarded it and defended it against Flair. But then Michaels beat him for it. Which he then beat for it a month after. I'd say HHH's Reign of Terror didn't officially start until Mania 19 when he retained against Booker T.

That being said - HHH was able to run rough shot on pretty much everyone for the next few years and bury the sh*t out of them including RVD, Booker T and several other worthy opponents that deserved a fair chance at being champ. Tony Khan is a billionaire and is paying his top guys big money. AEW has better overall wrestlers too. It's better for everyone fans and wrestlers when there's more than one major company with a TV deal to work at. It just makes both companies better
This is definitely promo of the year and comeback of the year for 2024. Plus, MJF is now needed more than ever to help get AEW back on its feet in both tv ratings and crowd attendances, and keep AEW from having its ass kicked since CM Punk returned to WWE.
