Welcome welcome!!! First off, let me just say I am SO happy you're here because today I'm gonna teach you how to dutch braid. I've seriously made it my personal mission because you cannot wander around in this world without knowing how to style this fabulous braid! If you can't tell, it's one of my favorites! In all honesty though, I'm always so surprised with how many comments I get of women telling me they just can't do it. So today my friends, we are diving deep. I'm going slow and explaining it all. Please, if you love me at all -- WATCH THE VIDEO!!! And I'll explain more when you press play, but there are two things I want you to remember: 1 - don't watch me as you're practicing and 2 - don't look at yourself in the mirror. I feel like mirrors and screens flip things and just confuse everyone. I want you to become familiar enough with the steps that you can say them out loud as you're braiding. You can listen to me as I do it, or you can keep an eye on the pictorial at the bottom of this post while practicing!

I've never ever ever been able to do anything with my hair, no matter how hard I try. I watched the entire video and was able to do a Dutch braid in my hair this morning!
When I was growing up I was never interested in hair whatsoever. And then when I was ten I had a sudden interest. I remember just being like, "What is a French braid? How do you do it? What about waterfall? Ladder?" Then I became obsessed,(not using that word lightly), and started learning EVERY braid. I had no one to help me because my mom was not the best at hair either. So I turned to RUclips/the internet. And now, 12 years later I still know how to do all those braids and am yearning to know more! I still remember practicing on my mom and tugging and pulling at hair. For those who are just beginning, I wanna say it literally just takes practice because I started out not knowing a thing! And Abby, if you're reading this, I'm so glad I found you and your channel! I found you through Cute Girls Hairstyles! And I'm obsessed...call me a stalker but after I found your RUclips, I followed your Instagram, then Snapchat, then subscribed to your blog.😬 I'm probably crazy...

And I’m about to turn 12 in 2 more months so I am very happy and I’m very good at hair my mom also isn’t the best at doing hair and I think I’m very good at doing hair in the family I think soon I will do a tutorial I sometimes do but never upload because I think it’s cringe.. but yea I am good at hair and I know how to Dutch braid, French braid, etc :) I’m still practicing to do harder hairstyles! :)

Thank you, thank you, thank you.. I have been trying to learn how to do a French braid and I had given up. I came across this double Dutch braid and I can do it!!! Ok, it isn’t the best, but I am getting better every day. I have saved this video and I rewatch it all the time. I appreciate the detail you provide in describing how to do do the braid. I’ve got twin granddaughters and you have given me the necessary tools needed to learn how to do this braid!!
After watching this video have finally got the hang of doing a Dutch braid, thanks for your easy to follow video. I also learnt how to do a fishtail braid from your easy to follow instructions. Keep up the hair tutorials.
I always struggle with the picking up pieces of hair part :( it's always to big or to small or not even and so never looks like yours!

I FINALLY got this. I've never known there was a difference between the dutch braid, where you go under the middle strand and what I've been doing going over it. Thank you! I was even able to do look #2.

OMG!!!! I just did a dutch braid!!!!! I would totally show you but I don't have Instagram. I do have facebook. Anyway, thank you, thank you, thank you! You were right not to look in the mirror and just get used to sayin it out loud. This seriously made my day! I have very dark, long hair. Once you figure out how to switch the middle piece, it really becomes doable. When I wear my hair curly, I'm going to try this too. SOOO excited!!!

I did it!!!!! Okay, it's not that great but it's there and not terrible so I'm keeping it! I've worked on this for a YEAR!!! I'd try, get frustrated and quit, try again a couple months later--repeat.

This is the best tutorial ever! I can practically French braid my hair in my sleep, but I've never been able to make a Dutch braid look good, let alone on the side. But thanks to your clear and simple instructions, I got it on the second try and I love it! Thank you so much! 😘

Thank you for telling us how you hold the braid!! That has always been my biggest struggle when doing braids on myself - how to hold them while braiding! I can braid other people's hair, but doing my own looks horrible haha will be practicing today!
I didn't know what kind of braid I found so attractive when I saw someone on TV with it so I did a search and here I am. Wow..so beautiful and artistic I can't stop starring at it. Thanks for the tip...now...how do I get my wife do do her hair. :)

This was super helpful it wasn't perfect on my first try but was not that bad so i think if i tried it some more time i think I'll get the hang of it but i couldn't try anymore because my hand ached so much!!!!!!

I loved this, though I know its a tad older. However it really helped me realize that in the beginning [when I usually gave up thinking I did it wrong]yours ALSO looks like you didnt get very far or seems to have braid progress. It seems at first for me there it looks like 1 or 2 braids when Ive done say 4 or 5, the key is to keep going!.Also I may have been braiding too tight. Now I know to have endurance & perseverance to see it thru & it will pay off! haha😂😂😂😂 BTW youre so pretty & love your sweet fun spirited personality❤❤❤❤

I love this video concept and how you break down which fingers hold what. I can braid, but want to be able to hold it tighter and the way I do that now just doesn't work. I keep losing when you say "braid it under." Which fingers are supposed hold it? I'm trying to get it, but I think there is a step missing.

I am getting the hang of the hand and finger motions but I can't seem to keep the braid towards the front like you. Mine tends to go more to the middle of my head and it looks weird haha
I can do a Dutch braid on someone else but on myself I just can't figure out how to hold it. I'm so used to the normal French braid hold. But I'm determined to get this!!

Hi!! THANK YOU SO MUCH! I can braid other peoples hair, but have NEVER been able to do mine except for simple and French braids UNTIL NOW! I have passed this on to friends as well!
I have 2 things I keep having problems with...1. Getting the braid really close to my hairline on the side 2. When I get close to the nape of my neck it always seems to come off my head a bit and also get loose....I would love any suggestions you have or if anyone e else has some!

Same here! Starting on top works but it goes wrong when I try to add pieces of hair and braid to the side. Somehow it's not working and it's so frustrating!

U should try giving tricks for thin hair
If you want a dutch braid closer to your hairline, it's easier to do with your other arm (the side where you're not making the braid) in front of your face, as long as you don't want to do a halo braid.
When yo said not to use a mirror I thought you were crazy but using a mirror messed me up I did so much better not looking at the mirror thank you so much I can do a Dutch braid now

This is amazing and I want to learn how to do it so bad but I’m getting so frustrated. I have dark hair so it’s not showing as much of it texture and design as yours is because you’re is is blonde. So it’s hard for me to really tell what I’m doing. And then my arms get really sore and tired and I give up. I want to learn this so bad 😭😭
