Sad to see him go, Thanks for the great memory of this special year Jim Hope he enjoys more time in his family life now. No more fighter jets flying over Croke Park for the finals anymore - He and those aircrafts will be missed.

The GAA have created a beast with Dublin. So much more money pumped into Dublin GAA than anywhere else. A population of almost two million that's only going to grow, given that we live in the most centralised country in Europe. Less emigration than other parts of the country. Further from the big cities most clubs struggle to fill numbers.
I know Joe mentioned the Kerry team that won eight in eleven years, and the hurling dominance of Kilkenny for a long time.
But, when the Kerry team won four in a row the GAA was in a different era. That team remained practically unchanged for the four years. Unlike them, Dublin had the ability to completely change their team throughout the years coming up to the four/five in a row. (Dublin could split in two and still be competitive.)
Dublin winning again this year will solidify beyond all shadow of a doubt their position as greatest football team of the sports history. In fairness, I would say they already are undoubtedly the best ever.
But it's becoming a case of financial backing and manpower versus tradition and culture.
There's some great footballing brains in Kerry no doubt, and they will try to mount a challenge. But their young players need the security to be able to stay closer to home if they are to be able to keep challenging Dublin and prevent the competition from dying off completely in the future.

The money invested is always mentioned with dublin.. you cant buy talent.. its talent and hard work that got dublin 5 in a row not money..

As much as your big essay about culture and traditions and dublin having a advantage because of money being pumped in looks good .. it makes zero sense .. why arent dublin dominating hurling ? Talent and hard work made the dublin team what they are ..

You make a somewhat valid point, but in fairness you can only ever pick 15 players + substitutes that applies to all teams, also GAA football in Dublin takes a back seat to a lot of sports so on that basis alone I think it’s a fair playing field, but let’s call a spade a ♠️ This Dublin team have been excellent

If they every were to split the Dublin team, it would be pointless because it would just be 2 dublin teams in the all ireland final😂 and it's just stupid to split a team!

Great manager who kept it fresh by jazzing up his back-room every year. The alleged fallout between himself and Sherlock might have some bearing on who gets picked next for the job. Dessie might be cute enough to let someone else fall on their sword first. Pat Gilroy was the catalyst in shaking up Dublin football.....he is seldom mentioned, so fair play to Joe. Donegal and Kerry to make life very difficult.

Obviously Dessie insisted on doing it HIS way instead of following the formula Jim left. Farrell has destroyed Dublin football since he took over the job.

@@almon799 Very low standards to judge anyone by. Dessie Farrell is a mé Féiner. He was when he played for Dublin and he is as a manager. No team ethic. He thinks a few good players are going to win All Irelands. Teams win not individuals.

@@almon799 All he had to do was continue with the formula Jim started. He completely changed the training setup. He drove out players and backroom staff who didn't suit him. Like Frank Sinatra, he is doing it HIS WAY. Unfortunately he doesn't have the talent or the ability.
