Your point about licences in correct but it's probably worth explaining why. The issue is that when there's isn't a license, there is a license, a very strict one that says nobody can do anything with it. Which, if you think about it, is fair enough. If you copied a manuscript off someone's computer, published it and made millions. The person who wrote it could [rightly] sue you. Even if you're not making money, you're using somebody else's property. That's a huge risk. Don't take that risk. If you see an MIT license, then you're on rock solid ground and have absolutely nothing to worry about. Other licences, even free open source ones, can place restrictions that you might not like. But the worst sort of license is no license.
@@Chevifier You can have 16 now. You just have to choose the new Splat16 shader. It's also much easier to set up the texture with his new import workflow :).
Very nice river plugin like in unreal engine, it nice to see, very good demonstrations and video, thank you on this informations, keep going and good luck!!!
I'm exploring Godot and I really like what I see. However terrain tools have always been a turn off for me. I've tested Zylann's tool and it's really interesting. However I've yet found a way to make animated trees... I tried with Zylann's heightmap tool but the shader is really not made for trees and all the vertices move, even if I play adjust the vertex opacity in blender. I'm open to any suggestions, I'd hate to go back to Unity lol...
Change the foam albedo to yellow, change the water albedo to red and pick a different texture and you should be able to get a decent lava. Add in a material that's got an missive channel and you've got lava.
I was playing around with it. In a few minutes you can make a so/so lava. Switch colors to red, increase the roughness, reduce the refraction amount and replace the texture with a simplex noise and presto, ghetto lava. You can then create a new shader and override the one that came out of the box and make the effect even better. twitter.com/gamefromscratch/status/1341820557583638529
Jeez. I still remember how we had to fake all this, twelve years back! It never ceases to amaze me, how much game design has advanced in that time. Open source programs like GODOT, Blender and Opentoonz really bring true the adage "Your only limitation is your imagination. I can only imaging what tomorrow will bring.
if the author dont know what licence to put, simply put the same as the godot licence, so you can be sure they are compatible and the end user will not have any doubt on how the licences interact with each other
The last time I worked with the Heightmap plugin, I couldn't add the bump map and roughness textures. I had albedo, bump map, normal map, and roughness as separate textures. How do you get it so albedo & bump map are 1 png and the normal map & rougheness are 1 png?
I assume they are using RGBA textures, with RGB for the color channels, leaving you an 8bit channel for the other map in the alpha channel. The only downside to this approach is the lack of transparency in the texture.
The latest version of the plugin that came out a few days ago allows you to import the textures seperately and then it does all the combining into the right channels for you. It also goes up to 16 layers instead of 4 with the new Multiplat16 shader he's added.
Gamefromscratch is from Russia? News to me. No really unless someone that actually can subtitle the video (community subtitle creations) any non English natives have to deal with the very popular English joke of a language. Not that there really is a good alternative language out there. English is the the only non country specific language we got. USA, UK are the ones that can not speak privately around others in public ;) For now at least. And not under some spying eyes. So yes pretty much they never will have privacy. And really English is best suited for programming and computers. No good reason to not have good knowledge in English. It only harms you and others. Still not a fan. But it really is the best way for us all to tie humanity together. Rather have broken English then someone that can not believe there are others somewhere else with a different life to there little "world" they where born in. It is insane how alien like we can be without having a shared language. English only thing going for it is the fact that it lost it's identity. All outer languages are personal but English is no ones. And i can buttsuusre it too and stil be understod.

The Godot terrain plugin has a License, it is in the /addons/zylann.hterrain/ folder
Damn, what a catch
@@jadrianmc3420 the license is simple tho you can use it on anything including selling the plugin but you need to include it

The license for the heightmap plugin as at github.com/Zylann/godot_heightmap_plugin/blob/master/addons/zylann.hterrain/LICENSE.md
WaterGenGodot is available under the MIT license and has been since November.
that water plugin will come handy for an "open world" game I want to start working on.
I rather build my own tool for terrain, tho.
I didnt realize Zylann update his terrain plugin. Last time i used it you could only have 4 textures sets for painting. Nice 👌
Actually its still only 4 or am I missing something

is there a grass plug-in?
The terrain plugin actually has a grass detail shader included.
Pls make another video about multiplayer, I thing your old one is a bit messed up
To be honest most Godot tutorials will be waiting for Godot 4
