I am a history teacher as well in Canada. Since the coup on, January 6th, 2021, our job to educate our students is more important than ever. I believe that if those that participated in coup were properly educated about tyranny, they wouldn't have believed Trump and his cronies, and the coup wouldn't have happened. The U.S. has a long road a head of them to change the minds and hearts of your countrymen that support/participate in any form of totalitarianism.

It’s such a loss to this world that some of these men have died or will be gone in the next few years. So glad that these testimonies will last forever. Such valuable and precious true history.
These men would roll over in their grave if they could see what this country, that they fought and died for, is turning into. I'm afraid we're gettin close to a place of no return.

Great video.. My Granpa was WW2 Veteran he fought in france. His son my Dad was a combat Vet Vietnam..11th cavalry. All those Combat Vets are full blown Men .
Ive seen so many. WW2 videos in my life of 65 years, I grew up in a home with two veterans, Grandfather WW1 and Dad, WW2. This is such a delight to see the men who were still young when I was born in 1955, and now, telling such a concise story of the only thing that really matters, that is the man who was there, who remembers his friends who are not.
You’re my dad’s age. We had 5 WW2 vets in our family, my grandpa and 4 great uncles (one was KIA in Okinawa). My dad was the baby of the family though, and I was one of the last grandchildren born, so I had precious few years with my grandpa. I was too young for him to talk to me about the war, so I’ve had to hear everything second-hand. I wish someone had thought to record, or even write down some of the stories. It’s imperative we document as much as we can before it’s too late. Even the youngest vets of WW2 are in their mid-90s now, and their numbers are decreasing fast (the last time estimate I heard was that there were approx. 300,000 left in the US. It might have changed by now). ✌🏻🇺🇸
Great documentary. I met Staff Sgt Harley Reynolds at Omaha beach in 2009, giant of a man. He took the time to talk to anybody that asked him a question about his experiences on D-Day 44... Amazing
Great documentary, the real shame is that schools didn't teach me the history as to should of been taught. It was glossed over within a few days of classes. Speaking as a fellow younger millennial, I appreciate greatly what these men did and I'm glad I'm not alone in my appreciation.

My wife and I were fortunate enough to be in Normandie for the 75th. The entire trip can only be described as surreal. The French people of Normandie are so amazing and appreciative
This program is wonderful, and I salute all those who served. My five uncles all served. Three of them were in the Korean War, two were in WW2. Our family is very proud of them. My uncle enlisted at 17….. lied about his age in order to get in. He was the oldest of 14 children living in Puerto Rico. He was a medic in the army and received several medals. All five of my uncles made it through the war……they were all brothers all in the war at the same time. My grandmother went through hell, especially every time they’d announce on the radio, the names of the soldiers who had perished. I use to love listening to their adventures when I was a teenager. They all came home safely and raised beautiful families. I love their pictures with their uniforms on. We are very proud of them.

On the 75th Anniversary in 2019, I was a skipper on a yacht training for a Round the World Yacht Race. We happened to be just outside Portsmouth Harbour when the mixed fleet left for Normandy and, soon after, we did a training race with the other 10 yachts across the Channel and around a couple of marks in the bay just off the landing beaches, before continuing onto Weymouth and then back to Portsmouth. We rounded the cardinal mark a couple of miles off the Normandy beaches at dawn and I remember it being a very special moment for those of us on deck, imagining all those young men having the same view exactly 75 years before. It is amazing to see and hear these veterans; the ones who were actually there, telling their stories. It was a great moment for me when I stood at Omaha Beach a few years ago. I listened to the sea, and tried to just imagine and picture that day. I still get tears in my eyes. I don't know why. But hearing these men remembering the harrowing experiences they went through, touches me deeply, and always will. It was very special to see the little children of Normandy taking part in remembrance events. It is sad that, in many (most?) other places youngsters do not even know about the two great wars.
Nothing like a good WW2 documentary to make 2020 feel better. Those men, along with Soviet ones, helped bring down fascism in Europe and we shall be forever grateful to them.
Omaha was my dads 3rd beach landing he never spoke to much about it but he always said when you see the picture's of the beach everyone one died facing the beach. Nobody tried to retreat. 26th div 1st infantry, bluespader.
I have been a very amateur historian of WWII since I was a child, I’m 65 now. For the life of me I cannot understand why this war is not a huge part of all history lessons in our schools today. This was one of the few absolute defining moments in our country’s history. Instead our young are destroying the history of this great country tearing down statutes and kneeling in front of our flag. No, we’re not a perfect society, but what sets this country apart is through individualism and freedom we recognize that, and we strive to become “more perfect”. The bravery and service of these men should be admired and shown as much as possible to our young.
The Mrs and I were Blessed to go to Normandy Beach and to visit the cemetery of all the heroes who gave all. As a vet, I salute all that gave their courage and sacrificed their lives and those who has fought and lived to document what we see before us in these videos so we may live on and understand what these WWII heroes have done to preserve out freedoms. For the heroes who are able to tell their story now, Thank You!! Being a vet but not of WWII has shown me the sacrifice you all have made for this country. Growing up in the 60’s, the Vietnam war was going on and now I’m so much older, I cant help but to tear up when sadness of war is so apparent to those who have fought in them. Thank you for letting me share!
Thanks for this great informative video made me think of my grandfather.. My grandfather was a pow captured by the Japanese in the pacific. He was tortured daily had all his fingernails ripped out ect and only ever told us the true extent of the ordeal shortly before he passed away. Turned out he felt guilt of surviving while so many of his friends never made it out alive.

I have been watching all of the mini-documentaries they have on RUclips interviewing the brave service members of WWII. I joined the Army back in the 70's. I had 4 uncles in WWII and my Father was in the Army just prior to Vietnam so he didn't go. One of my Uncles has a story similar to these guys, took him a long time to tell. The short version: He was on the last Aircraft Carrier that was sunk in WWII. It was sunk by two kamakazi planes. After the first plane hit the ship, they thought "ok we can recover." Then when the 2nd one hit the Captain eventually had to call abandon ship, because of where the plane hit and the massive explosion. After 8+ hours in the water and oil and strafing, he was pulled from the water still alive and covered in oil from head to toe. The oil came from the sinking ship. If anyone is interested, I just found a picture online of the moment the ship exploded. Sometimes people take pictures and get something they didn't expect. The ship is the USS Bismark Sea. I think if you google that name and add the word explosion it will probably come up.

RIP to Jim Fantozzi, so glad to have called him my great great uncle. I may not have known him too well but he was an incredible man.
Thanks for sharing this sad news. It was an honor for us to interview him for this film. May his memory be a blessing!
Such humble real hero's God bless them all. All those young lives lost
I had family in Normandy in these times, i woukd love to come so e day and pay respects to my heritage. I hope i will.
Love this. I was also there for the 75th.
Thank you to my grandpa and all the men who sacrificed so much to secure the liberties we enjoy and take for granted It startles the mind to think if battles such as Normandy would have gone the other way.
What an outstanding film,God Bless everyone of those men and the ones who never returned,They sacrificed a lot so we could live in freedom and free from Nazi tyranny.I am an Englishman and the war could not have been won without the contribution and commitment of our U.S. Cousins.
The usa.'s industrial might played a part as well as the usa troops!
What a great documentary, great job. I was there for the 50th in 1994 as part of a Honor Platoon representing the 134th Inf Division out of Nebraska. Told myself I'd be back for the 100th. I don't know if I can wait that long! Please continue to share the memories of the Greatest Generation.
Bravo Ben! So well done .. Your commitment to keeping these heros memories and experiences alive is so commendable. Thanks for all you’re doing and thank you for interviewing my dad! You’re a mensch as we say!

Incredible. I feel so humble before these men and all the others that did not survive or were horribly wounded.
Such sacrifice.

The best generation of men ever to be born the Americans, Brits, Aussie’s, Canadians and the Soviets please keep their stories alive. Bless all those hero’s They saved our lives to defeat pure evil.
Also to the French people they haven’t forgotten what the Americans, Brits, and Canadians done . But in America most have forgotten
Thanks so much for this documentary.
Also,those that brought down imperialist/fascist japan 2!
Fantastic. Thank you so much for documenting their story. Long may we remember.
Well done, thank you to the Greatest Generation for the sacrifice you all made
WE WILL NEVER FORGET
Brilliant report, lest we forget…..
Fantastic documentary, thank you very much!
I enjoyed watching this documentary, thank you for your hard work Benji and for capturing this precious stories. Great documentary.
anything world war 2 history count me in. Thank you!
Omaha was my dads 3rd beach landing he never spoke to much about it but he always said when you see the picture's of the beach everyone one died facing the beach. Nobody tried to retreat. 26th div 1st infantry, bluespader.
This touches home so much, being a veteran myself and growing up with men of WW2 , heartwarming.
Thank you for this! Your channel deserves million subs and likes. 🇺🇸❤️
Superb documentary 👍🇬🇧
Thanks for this great informative video made me think of my grandfather.. My grandfather was a pow captured by the Japanese in the pacific. He was tortured daily had all his fingernails ripped out ect and only ever told us the true extent of the ordeal shortly before he passed away. Turned out he felt guilt of surviving while so many of his friends never made it out alive.
Outstanding documentary. I love it. I admire the courage these men had a that time. Don’t know if I would have been able to get into one those LCVPs without sh ..* myself.
One question regarding the background music @ 14:56. Can you pls tell me which song it is?
Thanks
Outstanding work! The way you interview the veterans, with so much respect and empathy, makes me want to see more, and more!
Keep up the good work buddy, I am proud to know you!
I want to thank every Vet, thank u for giving the us the American people the life we have today, u guy'z will alway'z be in my prayers. 2 all of the Fallen R.I.P and u will alway'z be my HEROES. 🙏🇺🇸🗽🇬🇧🙏
Those in the pacific had their hands full!
@@hugbug4408 Those in the European Nd Pacific had. Their hands full.
SOOOOOO well done! Thank you!!
That last song "Destiny" is AWESOME 👍
