- After our trip to Beijing we decided to go further North East to the small city of Dandong in Liaoning province, which borders North Korea. From the moment we arrived, things did not go to plan and the situation gradually got worse and worse.
Watch as we go to get covid tests, have the police called on us, are placed in a quarantine hotel, and then visit the North Korean border (Hushan Great Wall, Tiger Mountain, One Step, Broken Bridge and Friendship Bridge) with guards literally meters away from us.

From that Great Wall another mile up on the road there is a rock that belongs to Dprk so you could have taken a picture with your feet in N Korea,and is a pity you don’t drive(I’ve passed my driving license in China)
Up north from that wall there is a place where you can rent a big boat and go around up the river and buy from North Koreans things:)
I know very well that place ,in the hotel that you’ve been (I’ve recognised the small buildings between the hotel and the river)..

We used to live in Shenyang for a few years.
If you want to explore more ,those boats don’t take you where I was,10-15 km up stream you can rent some other types of boats……

It's because they're very wary of foreigners since the pandemic - we followed everyone's instructions and this is where we ended up haha

I think it wasn't really discrimination as they gave you decent hotel and food (for free? lol). Just the government guy being too cautions. On which day did you arrive there and what did they ask you? I've heard there are more travel restrictions in North China and they require you to have a Covid negative test result paper within 48 hours if you are coming from another province. And if you didn't have that paper you will be tested on site and placed in a quarantine hotel until the test result turns our to be clear.
lol we had to pay for the hotel but it wasn't too expensive... when the government hear foreigner they always take the cautious route which usually most inconvenient. We wished before we got on the train the officer would have told us about this test mandate!

At least these videos did not look like they were produced by CGTN/CCTV like most of the Western videos from China. The North Koreans were problably waiting for you to claim asylum from the CCP.

Sounds legit lol.
In northern China, some provinces require COVID tests in the last 48 hours. If there's none, then quarantine. People normally check for updates instead of expecting someone to remind them at the train station.
