Bea was a power house. She is more than just a "Golden Girl". She has a terrific voice and great stage presence. It's a shame she didn't get too do more Broadway because that was right up her ally. A very strong confident woman for that time period.
I read on IMDB that she was the original choice for Ursula in “The Little Mermaid” but apparently her agent turn it down before even showing her the script
I like the fact that Bea was a big girl, she wasn't some half starved little twit, she really represents us bigger people! :) And her amazing talent! I love this woman so damn much! WE LOVE YOU BEA!!!! :)
I remember the first time I watched the golden girls here in the UK my mum and I was convinced Bea was a man in drag due to her voice. I feel ashamed for thinking that I grew to appreciate and love her. She was a great actress singer etc and playing Dorothy in the golden girls has become my comfort blanket. I love this lady
Make sure you see " Everyone Today is Turning On". The weirdest number you'll ever see and its from this special. Why it's not included I have no idea. Just Google the title. You'll never Bea the same.
It's from the same show as "Hey There Good Times," Cy Coleman and Michael Stewart's "I Love My Wife." That was 1977 though, I'm not sure if there was a mutual friend involved in both.

Not only is Bea in heels, but how many times have you ever seen her in something fitted and flashing leg?
Her cheating husband had just left her a couple of years before. This was her princess Di revenge dress moment!!
Never!!
It was rare to see Bea in heels!! She looked and sounded fantastic!!
She also wore heels in an episode of Maude where she is at a psychologist office.
She looked like the belle of the ball. ❤️ Absolutely stunning.
@2:42 I loved hearing Bea's, "Here I Am" above everybody elses. I love Bea's voice!!
Gorgeous & SO Lovely... rest in Peace Bea, thanks for all the smiles :)
The spinning CBS logo is my one of my earliest childhood memories.
She was truly amazing!
Bea Arthur is Amazing!
I was just thinking its a shame Bea never got to be a Disney Villain, she would have been perfect!
She would have made a great Cruella De Ville
I read on IMDB that she was the original choice for Ursula in “The Little Mermaid” but apparently her agent turn it down before even showing her the script
Snow White’s evil Queen
My favorite, Bea.
I love Bea arthur ❤️
Bea looked amazing!
The impersonations at the end are a riot lol!!!
That "special" intro brought back hella flashbacks to when tv was good.
Yes, compared to this, TV really sucks now.
And Melba Moore...what a voice. And Madame was a hoot.
Bea looked amazing.. such an elegant woman. A real woman not a little girl!! She was in her fifties here!
Bea slayed this black dress! PS look at Hudson’s expression at 1:50 🤣
Can you blame him?
What a classy lady.

Bea Arthur to me was curvy but never big.
By the time she was on GG, she was downright thin. Not even curvy.

For a heavy smoker, Bea sure could hold a note.
It would be cool if they had these specials now :)
That has got to be a Bob Mackie gown Bea is wearing!
Bea never looked better then here

Here after the Cecily Strong Musical Theatre Fundraiser skit on SNL last night👍
Wow. Melba Moore looks fantastic
God I miss variety shows like this!
Oh how Rock's life was about to change.😢
Nice to see her in a real dress and heels, showing herself off. She has so much to let herself be.
Bea Arthur…..a staggering talent.
Classic
Loved the ending!
♥
Last time I saw Bea sung, was in the STAR WARS HOLIDAY SPECIAL.

I dont wanna do that tell me why
Bea is all legs! Weird but fun !
1:19 I mean......................
Oh my gosh, Bea! I suddenly miss TGG
She had legs to look at.
Bea is in heels and STILL shorter than Rock Hudson! He must have been very tall!
He was indeed !
Melba Moore was extremely talented. Her record label failed to utilize her correctly.
Where can I find the full special?
Unfortunately I don't know...
That's the Bea Arthur I know 😘
Did they put together two separate footage of Bea beside herself, or were those Bea Arthur impersonators standing alongside her?
Was thinking the same. The shadows on the floor seem ok....I would think it was a double in real time....but I don't know. It wad done very well.
Bea had a nice body she always hid under baggy clothes.
Bea here her height wonderfully. Gigi and Bella would be jealous now.
Those 2 have nothing on Bea. Bea was a diva 100%
What song is this?
Hey There, Good Times from the musical I Love My Wife, which Bea's husband, Gene Saks, directed.
Wow. Melba Moore looks fantastic
