In this video I unpack and describe the components found in the "ELEGOO Mega 2560 Project The Most Complete Ultimate Starter Kit w/Tutorial Compatible with Arduino IDE". That's a mouthful as you'll see and hear when viewing the video. I also make a major error (go figure), I called the prototype expansion module a breadboard. Rats.

At the time of this video recording the package cost was $40. It normally sells for $60. Either way, it's a great value for someone trying to learn how to use an Arduino. As I discuss, students will use this kit to learn the fundamentals of physical computing and create prototypes for products they will design.
Bear with me. This was my first recording using OBS Studio and there are a few hiccups along the way. Hope others finds the content valuable.

I did buy the elegoo kit like the one he's talking about. I learned to program, had fun with it.. But I felt I missed the basics of electronics, like how does the circuits work. all the very basics... so I went deeper by buying components Transistors, IC units and now I'm learning the very basics. I think it fun to start, but I think it makes you fail to learn the very basics.
Great feedback for any one staring out. I'd also recommend a good book on begging electronics such as this one: amzn.to/3KhXthm
It's a great kit. I'd highly suggest spending a bit more for base that will hold the Arduino and one or more breadboards and a box of pre-bent jumper wires of various lengths. Not having things moving around and avoiding big loops of wire all over the place will make for far less wiring errors and easier troubleshooting while you're trying to learn.

The top camera seems off 90° and its making me dizzy. I saw a guy making a automated hydroponics mini garden with the ardiuno. I youtubed a ardiuno tutortial and found paul mcporter and i been hooked. I got the this kit but as a truck driver i have to wait to get home to play with it
The camera is pointed down at a slight angle. It's actually mounted to the yellow lamp you see in the video. Sorry it made you dizzy 🥴 but thanks for watching.

@@retroCombs I put a watch on it. I have a arty junior and she's getting wicked into robotic toys. If I can get her programming her own robotic things, I will change her life. Just like getting a vic-20 did for me.
Awesome. Similar situation. My daughter's a graphic designer and I had her programming LEGO robots in her early days. She's talented, musical, and tech savvy. Makes a daddy proud!
@@retroCombs Yeah I just bought two for under that in AUD on sale (mainly as I wanted some arduinos and some parts and buying the kit is a bonus as you get parts you can use with tons of other projects like rpi stuff)
This kit hasn't changed at all over the years. Glad they are still available.
