with the laid down requirements, i doubt if Rao can be anywhere near qualification for the seat. but then this informs me of the need to suport the idea which came advocating for pple to be awarded degrees on the basis of experience in whatever they have done and perfected in. on that basis, Rao is more than qualified. Rao is in the class of the late Madiba, late Haille sellassie, mouse etc who have fought for development of this continent, have given best ideas on the importance of african union, have guided the continent on the best infrastructural development and thus they automatically qualify for the seat. Brains will lead the continent but not papers without brains. papers can be bought but intelligence is naturally given by God/Allah/Budha. Rao was blessed with that intelligence and so he qualifies.

Standards are established for every job description and competitiveness in todays job market is a given even for these kinds of roles. We can't always be claiming people are coming after us if we don't meet criteria for things. Recently it was found out that we have people in public offices with fake credentials. Unfortunately on the international stage short cuts wont work any more.

Its no longer important to have too many degrees bse most of the achievements have been made by people without even university education. Check out the IT , and manufacturing experts, most of them are form 6 grads.

I am seeing this not ending very well for Raila ,even if they wave off the education qualification , I cant see where his support will come from the most he can get from EAC is 3 votes maximum and that is if Tanzania won't have a candidate, West Africa is not a very friendly hunting ground with the military calling the shots ,its only southern & central Africa and not all of it where maybe he will have more votes. What reason would Karue have to lie yet he's rarely in the same political formation with Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga except during the NARC era?
There is a tale in Rt. Hon. Odinga's biography where an African student at UoN had met the requirements for a First Class Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering but the Europeans and Indian professors there did not believe that a black Kenyan could score such an academic distinction. Rt. Hon. Odinga among other African lecturers in the Faculty of Engineering & Built environment had to make a case to the University Senate for the young man to be meritoriously given his due.
