    It may be 5 years old but this video answered my prayer for a simple fix. 1996 c200, is not great for parts if this hadn’t worked.🎉🎉

    When you have this problem with the relay, it is better to seal the relays, take the relay for the turn signals and slightly bend your legs outwards, then put it back and it will be fine again and will sit in the factory, without trees and without unnecessary things, for people who do not understand it is useful, but there are also better ways to fix this problem! Thanks!

    You'll more than likely find if you open the relay at the bottom where the pins are soldered to the circuit board, that there is a broken solder joint, just check with a magnifying glass and re solder the broken joint, I had the exact same problem and that's how I fixed mine.

      How did u seal it exactly?

    • @b57ecv
      @b57ecv 4 года назад +1

      @@jonathankinsala3930 it didn't have any form of a seal as such its just got a plastic cover that's removed by prying the base off with a small flat head skrew driver, then when putting it back together it just snaps shut, another relay that can give trouble as well cousing the engine to crank and not pump fuel or give a spark is the over voltage relay, its the silver aluminium one with a fuse in the top of it on the other side of the engine bay , that one is much harder to get apart and is best replaced with a new as it involves breaking the aluminium cover to enter it, when changed the car will run faultlessly again, there a good car but electric components just break down over a very long period.

    hi yes I saw a link to mercedes benz forums and performed a full reheat of all contacts that are from the posts to the pcb holding the 3 relays, after removing the cover on the relay using jewelers screwdriver gently to leve the case around the base.

    Those relay boxes are plagued with dry joints open the relay box .give it to a electronics tech to resolder the joints .the block of wood is probably causing the pc board to buckle a bit making the joints make contact .

    If it's anything like my 1999 SLK 230 you guys need to check the back of your hazard switch.. everything is grounded out on the back of that switch don't ask me why don't ask me how but if you look at the back of the switchyou'll see what I mean and as soon as you get that work in you will see your blinkers will begin to workis the absolute weirdest thing I've ever seen be made that way but it is made that way so please check your red hazard switch in the middle of your dash I promise you will not regret it

    Hi, my '97 c230 has a related problem - the front and rear turn signals won't blink when the headlights are turned on. When the headlights are off, no problem, all 4 turn signals work. But the moment the headlights are turned on, the blinking stops. This happens only on the driver side. Bad relay? Any advice?

    • @JonnyFortino

      Sounds like the beginning of a headlight switch failing. My switch for the headlights went out and I had to choose between seeing the speedometer or seeing the road but never both.

    Um, seriously? That's not a fix. That's called badging it together! A proper fix would be finding out what's wrong with it. Is it a terminal in the socket assembly that's loose? Is it a cracked solder joint in the relay? A corroded connection? Figuring that out and making a proper repair is actually fixing it.

    • @JonnyFortino
      @JonnyFortino  4 года назад +1

      I was like 16 at the time. I didn't have the patience to disassemble and solder a relay. It worked flawlessly for the rest of the cars life after the block. So thats a win in my book

    I went through all the usual reflowing of solder on the relays and removing the hazard switch on the dash and cleaning everything. It all worked for a brief period. Then I watched the center relay while it worked / or didn't work. lol I was using a toothpick to apply pressure to various parts. EVENTUALLY ..... I inserted the toothpick gently into a gap behind the one fixed metal contact and the plastic casing behind it. Flicker sprung to life !!! Trimmed the toothpick down with side cutters and left it there. Still working 3 months later. Yellow arrow indicates resting place for the sharp end of the toothpick. Red arrow indicates the contact which flicks back and forth. i.postimg.cc/8CjgFycP/DSC-6403e.png
