    • @ArniesTech
      @ArniesTech 2 года назад +4

      Exactly my thoughts. What value on earth does a 7 second long video of a number bring to the table?! Sure, congrats on those millions of views but is that the legacy to be remembered by? I take the slow road. 🙏

      @@ArniesTech it can. Depends on what you think is „value“. I for example work with quotes. And some of the punchlines in my longer videos can be used for short 5 second videos. They have value - longer videos just settle the value more and have more content to integrate the new knowledge.
      Also it depends on what the audience sees as value. Some people want fun others want lessons 💛

  • @davidinark

    As is often the case in life, this was most likely actually VERY easy to pull off. A 100-0 countdown in one video which was then cut up, rendered, scheduled. The videos with the extras took a little more time, but not that much except for the big payoff at the end. I would venture this was done in a couple days over a long weekend or a regular weekend working extended hours. It’s simplicity is its genius. And, yes, it instantly makes the rest of want to just walk away. But, we don’t.

    I'd never heard of this Countdown channel before this video, and in all honesty no, I wouldn't have watched or subscribed to such a channel just to be given a stupid April Fool's joke, so in respect of RUclips being right about what I like to watch, it has no idea in the slightest. It barely shows the channels I'm subscribed to, let alone any of the big youtubers that I wouldnt watch in the first place

    I started creating videos on my channel back in November 22. Most of my Contant typically got 200 to maybe 400 views with maybe an average of 10 comments. I then used a couple of tactics I’ve learned from watching videos like this and the video I just submitted three weeks ago is already at 75,000 views. I still can’t figure out exactly what I did different. Maybe because I asked a question in my thumbnail to the viewer. Maybe it was the fact that I used better tags. I know my filming quality has gotten better since my first 50 videos, but trying to re-create that success could be harder than it seems. I went from around 100 subs to 800 subs over the course of three weeks which may not seem a lot to many channels, but to me it’s a big accomplishment. I just need to try to replicate that a few more times

      how interesting. sometimes the timing of the publication is important. Like time of day and week or weekends etc. or sometimes you just get lucky with the algorithm. its so hard to tell what makes a difference or not. my main channel usually gets 400-600 then a video got 2.5k and now my vids get 800-1.2k regularly and i just dont get what changed or what i did differently. the analytics tell me nothing.

    Honestly, creating 100 countdown videos like that could be done in under one hour in Davinci, and the whole lot could then just be bulk-uploaded and scheduled. It was a well executed strategy, but I would not go so far as to call creating and posting these vid a lot of work. Probably the genius of this approach was the fact that the videos involved such little work, it then left the creator free to focus on influencer marketing for a 100 day window.

    • @ArniesTech
      @ArniesTech 2 года назад +1

      One does not need a high end computer. Even a MiniPC can do a decent job at editing. The rendering will tske longer but its all doable. Super high end hardware for content creating is a myth.

  • @UNO-I0
    @UNO-I0 2 года назад +1

    The simple is that make a video that your viewer will like and worth waiting for. Like the countdown concept, people will be curious and waiting till the end. But sometimes people won't have time to see anything, so they're just going to subs. And turn on the bell so they actually get every countdown. Because, who knows if there's easter eggs.

    Speaking as photographer who likes to think he's pretty handy with a camera, and who created a channel to showcase some of my work I had to and am continuing to navigate a huge learning curve making videos. It's hard work and Incredibly unrewarding views wise. Many times I thought what's the point? why do I bother? Simple fact is I enjoy the whole thing 100 views or a 1000, I just wish I'd had the countdown idea first.

    A question I can't find answer to anywhere : If we trim an existing video, say 5 seconds out of a 1 minute video, does it affect the watch hours because of the 5 seconds that is lost due to trim? Would really appreciate an answer

    • @RodyTheRoad
      @RodyTheRoad 2 года назад +1

      Personal take: Yes, but it depends on where the trimmed content was. When it's on the last part of a video it will probably impact very little, but on the beginning of the video, it can go 2 ways.
      If the trimmed content was the reason for viewers leaving, then in the long run you might actually have larger watch hours. Otherwise, if the trimmed content kept viewers engaged then well, the watch hours will be affected. However, it probably doesn't affect the performance too much unless it created some content gap that makes people confused and consequently leave
