I drive past this house almost every weekday... never was there a house and an owner so well matched... just beautiful
My favorite thing is the half eaten banana in the fruit bowl. Comparing this with the overly staged tours of unnecessarily large homes we often find on youtube this is really refreshing and cozy!
The Modern House channel has some of the best tours because their home tours feature creatives and are actually lived in. They also include projects that are somewhat achievable, some more than others, so there's always something you can see and translate to a house or apartment. You can also support the artists they feature. When I watched Julia's tour for the first time, I knew it would be popular. I also really liked Oscar Piccolo's and Charlotte Taylor's home tours on that channel; they had a different vibe but were very personal. I also really like the tours on Schumacher's channel, but I wish they were longer.

Ghost door 😱
I just started watching the video and I had to stop to check comments and see if anybody else noticed the ghost door 😆
It's just the wind, in my room if the door is ajar it drifts open and closed making an insufferable thud so I never leave it like that.

I think a great idea for a video would be analysing your favourite architects’ work, they could be more historical architects… doing a series dedicating a video to each style maybe. You could look into cathedrals or other stuff besides homes. Love all your content, greetings from Spain❤️❤️

You live in Copenhagen!!! I am so jelly. I cared for an elderly danish lady here in the U.S. and she made me want to live there ❤. She was from Rorvig 30s/40s. I just love the furniture and the ceramics from that country. So much history and beauty in the land, architecture, and craftmanship 😊 If you are ever open to it, I would love to see a home tour and a vlog anywhere in denmark ❤

Not to be confused with the showroom called house of Finn Juhl. I meant the pretty home he designed for himself
I love that channel! Really gives me a better idea how light, space, scale, and functionality can be manipulated by a real pro. I love that the homes are usually reasonably sized.

Thank you for the tour! I loved the focus on art and books throughout the home, and it felt like an ode to a particular time period in architectural history. My main gripe is with the color of the bedrooms -- they shouldn't be white. I understand why the rest of the home is white -- it lets her highlight the art and furniture pieces. But the bedrooms could have their vibes enhanced with color -- perhaps a ruddy light brown in the basement and either a blue, yellow, or rose in her main bedroom.
I love the living area, and love the fact that a TV is not the dominant feature. I personally don't own a TV, so I really do feel that about the living room!

I really love your channel and your thoughtful and inspiring info. This home is beautiful and functional however it just doesn't seem comfortable. It's wholly dedicated to design and appearance but misses the comfort level in my eyes

You explained the rational for the coined design aesthetic “organic modern” when you mentioned the railing being softend by plants. Modern isn’t seen as soft/warm on its own, so folks add organic elements to it.

I watched that video a couple days ago and have been trying to figure out if I can track down that blanket ever since! Unfortunately I think it might be vintage but it's such a good pattern
Hey Noah, love your vids. Reckon you'd consider making a vid just about designing bedrooms? I want to make over my room but also need to incorporate a decently sized desk set up and don't know how to not make it look corny or obtrusive. Keep up the awesome work!
The modern house is a real estate agency. if you go to their wesbite they have even more to check out (and possibly buy). They also have the floor plans!!
I'm far more interested in seeing "regular" people's houses so I can gain some realistic design inspiration. Unattainable houses are fun to look at but don't provide much value for me on a practical level.
I try to find one thing in a room that I like; even tiny. Even If I hate the room. I have to pick. It’s really narrowed some stuff down. Try it. Err if you want.

As another commenter mentioned, I’d love to hear your critique of the contemporary “organic modern” trend, as it seems to create a definition of modernism that is inaccurate (plus its use of mass-produced “wabi sabi,” which is so insultingly ironic).

just ranting (i do rly like this home) but im sooo tired of white walls i really don't understand their extreme prevalence in like very designed spaces ... like yes its easier to work around but aren't you guys designers? isn't that your job? to understand that constraint and know how to work around it in a beautiful way/use it to your advantage? lol but i haven't done much designing an actual space outside of my minds eye so idk. but the wall color of course does sooo much for the vibe of the space i don't understand why light tones of pink or green or truly whatever arent more common. is the only off white we can manage to think of beige? like the light bouncing off the walls is sooo crucial it makes a space automatically so much warmer and cozier/moody feeling to have some sort of tone on the walls (and then that tone is reflected on all of the objects). white walls also just screams lack of intentionality to me. like every wall in every home is white because it needs to be as mass appealing as possible for commercial reasons, i/a lot of people stick with white walls because we're renting and don't have a choice in the matter, and the designers still can't move past white walls as an object of sheer necessity? just feels sad and boring and lazy. tbf though i hate a lot of modern design aesthetics because the clean lines/stripped down ornament just reads sooo generic and cheap to me. like ikea furniture but nicer materials. more of a reaction to that rather than something inherently super wrong with white walls but still! there's way too many of them! can we get some vibes :(

Why why why have modernist principles been abandoned? I too dream of living in a modest well designed home. I got the next best thing with space to display and enjoy things I’ve collected over a lifetime.

Hmm, it is a beautiful house, but I expect a bit more criticism from an architect reviewing a house. For example: there is no comfortable chair with a reading light next to it. There is no sofa, that long-chair does not replace a sofa where you can relax and watch TV or read a book. There is no garage anymore, they made a guest-room out of the garage. So, what to do with a car? On the public road? That is not nice for other people in the neighborhood. The low bamboo next to the door is in fact a noxious weed and a disaster if you want to sell the house. What I see as positive of your review, is that you like the small carpets. The American interior designers who all repeat that a carpet should be big, I think that is not always true, and this is such a case. What I also like is your opinion about the sizing of the house: not too big, but nice and cosy. And I like it also that you like that the bookcase is full with books and not a display of home decor. The stair is beautiful but impractical when she gets older, or when she wants to do the laundry. Is there no garden?
