Love my A400 Xplor. Been looking at getting one of these. If I do, the xplor might not get much use. Although one of my mates over there is telling me I need to wean myself off autoloaders. That's going to really be hard now. Especially since the A400 Extreme Plus is available LH. Thanks for making the decision easier Lloyd. 👍
Great review and I have to agree with your assessment that this gun does everything surprisingly well. I bought mine for birds but find it does a great job on the skeet & trap field. The recoil reduction is phenomenal! Also its ability to cycle incredibly fast during 5 Stand. Such a well designed shotgun.
Hola LLoyd! Muchas gracias por la prueba y la información!!.Crees que esta A400 xtreme Plus sería una buena elección para la caza de Palomas con cañón de 30"?Gracias!
Hi guys, lloyd amazing videos 🔥 from your experience do you think the rubber on the beretta a400 xtreme plus are durable? I meant for the longevity? Thank you
Remember when the 692 came out, it has a rubber coating on the top lever which I remember everyone saying was a stupid idea. I have never seen one worn out or perished yet. I think the rubber panels on the a400 will be fine. 😉
Really good program Lloyd. I have A400 Novator which is A400 4+1 for former Soviet Countries. I love this gun. Currently I’ve started clay shooting. Should I buy SP 686/687 or 525 for clays? Or practice with A400 and then when I get enough experience buy an O/U?
Just got the synthetic and shot it for the first time today. I noticed a "dip" in the rib just in front of the mid bead. Is that normal? Also, I noticed I lost the mid bead while shooting today. Disappointing.
@@lloydyp No, the rib that runs along the top of the barrel. Mine has a dip just past the mid bead. In other words, the rib isn't perfectly flat on the top.
It's a long time since I reviewed the L4s, But I dont remember many semi auto's I got along with better than this one. My top 2 of all time are this and the Benelli M2.
@@lloydyp Thanks! Seeing shootouts where you put different guns in the same category up against eachother would be cool! May be difficult to implement? Just an idea :D Keep up the awesome work.
Thanks for continuing to upload! If I ever replace my 3.5" Browning Gold Hunter it would be between this and the SBE. Does the inertia action offer any advantage? If this thing can really cycle 24-60+ gram then I can't see one.
I have one and it’s a very nice automatic. But honestly, it’s a heavy gun and it feels like a 4X4 Post in my hands. The gun kicks like a air rifle and the operation is flawless, however the weight and the bulky for-end are not the best. 7 out of 10 for me. Thank you.
One thing more, just a matter of preference. With the longer receiver on these new 3.5 magnum shotguns, why do most shooters feel they need a 28" barrel? Most of the high end guns now come with a extended choke pushing them out to 28.5". I picked up my A400 with a 26" barrel off the rack and am so glad I did. All the sighting plane a guy would ever need.
Me personally, I wanna know I’m getting as much reach as I possible can. I just picked u a 28 inch version of these but I’d rather have a 30. I know the difference in muzzle velocity and patterns between a 26 and 28 or 30 is probably minimal, but if I’m trying to plug a turkey at 60 yards I wanna have all the barrel I can.
@@Kennyrooo it shot basically a 95/5 split. The center concentration of the pellets was about 8 inches high and 6 inches left of where I held my front bead at 40 yards. It was the same with all the different shells I shot. My Beretta A400 xtreme plus shoots a 50/50 ~ 60/40 split at 40 yards and centered. Exactly how a shotgun should shoot.
@@Kennyrooo so I just got back my sbe3 from Bennelli. They sent a pattern test sheet and a letter on work they did. They said they adjusted the magazine barrel ring. I went and shot a few minutes ago and it is patterning MUCH better. Now it shoots a 60/40 split just about. Very happy with the results. I only shot twice but both shots patterned well.
Lloyd, if you had to choose between the a400 xtreme and the Browning 525 SL as the only weapon for 90% clay shooting and 10% bird hunting, what would you choose?
Cheers Lloyd. I have being toying with getting an M2. I noticed you mentioned owning one. I'm torn between gas or inertia. Will you be doing a review on the M2 anytime soon?
Dream gun as of now and I want it to stay that way seems very reliable and a good overall gun I have heard trigger travel is far and the safety is weird upfront but it’s just something you have to get used to I guess I wish there was one in 16 or 20 gauge
Nearly 2 million shooters got along with Winchester Model 12 pumps , which had the safety in front of the trigger guard. I find it a more natural movement to push the safety off ahead of the trigger, then slide my finger back into the trigger guard. But to each their own.
@@lloydyp Aye, fine gun, I bought a Hatsan Escourt extreme max, 3" chamber in a lovely wood. Recycles anything from 21gram upwards as long as its 70mm minimum. Some of can only aspire to handle the guns you do.
I've had an A400 Beretta for 9 seasons now and the gun is the best shotgun I've ever hunted with, or even shot for that matter. I did however feel the need for a back up gun (So I told the wife) because I stepped on a hidden hole that caved in up to the knee (Rock Chuck) and I dropped the gun into the sand. That ended the pheasant hunt for that day (Not gun's fault). So I'd heard the new Browning Maxus II Wicked Wing was a soft recoil gun as well. As it turned out I had a group of friends and family over for a taste test between the two guns on the banks of the Snake river. I have a strong bias toward the A400, and honestly can't decide which has less recoil between it and the Maxus. The others said the Browning had just a tiny bit less recoil...maybe? All the others said the Browning was a slimmer feel to it and better fit for them, and did kill more clay for them, but I still like the fit of the A400. Maybe cause I'm more familiar with it. Both guns are in about the same price range. It all boils down to fit. I don't think a guy could go wrong with either gun.
I didn't sorry, but based on the recoil impulse you can see in the shooting section of the vid with Hull Superfast I think it will be a peach to shoot with hot loads.
I have .. It handles Alphamax + 46 gram 3" BB shells as if they were 28gram in recoil terms . Absolute superb gun for those of us who like our shoulders!!
