I joined many networking groups but later found that they didn't help me specifically to get the job position. Reason - many of the people who join these groups were new like me. So, I fell into the time gulp zone. The experts usually do not show up in these meetups. Hackathons I agree. They can be useful. You also need to be careful they you do not fall into trap of bravado. What I mean is that US is a society that tell people that you are an awesome individual - and people literally take it as mantra - they have a perception you are awesome and confident even if you lack knowledge. Their confidence comes before knowledge. So many will say they are expert but later down the line they will misguide you. This is very true when it comes to Americans. They have fancy titles on their business cards. I have worked with Europeans and Russians tech workers and Indians - They are down to earth and more true to their talent and skills. I may be generalizing what this is what I came across to.
Can you make a video about job opportunities for Industrial and Manufacturing Engineers in the US. Is it worth pursuing a MS in USA especially as a Mechanical or Industrial Engineering Undergrad from India.
