CHRIS WAS MY SCHOOL TEACHER, HE WAS EXCEPTIONAL. HE DIDNT WALK TO THE BEAT OF EVERYONE ONES DRUM. HE WAS COOL. HE WAS MR WILSON. (BARE FOOT leather clad teacher. ) AN IMPRESSION ON MY LIFE.
One of the greatest recordings in Australian music history. Every nuance of this trios musical being rings out like the truth of the sun itself. It's as if gravity wanted to be captured this night. I went to many shows at the Continental but sadly I missed this, one of my desert island disks. Chris you were a giant. Shane and Jex you are the firmament on this recording.
Feels like i saw you yesterday mate, so many lessons in this. So many you taught me when i didn't even realise I was learning. Makes my heart ache to see this.
Missed the 1st Conti gig but had the CD played to death, and saw the Caravan Club gig - but best gigs were in the 90's where Omara and Wilson shared a stage and it felt like a full orchestral sonic trip - 2 brilliant artists at the top of their game, unforgettable.
Thanks for posting this-it is a lovely thing this-I saw Chris many times and loved his playing. I saw the qualities that Shane talked about of Chris giving everything, but such a beautiful soul.
I’ve got so many wonderful photos of Chris taken at various venues in Melbourne but especially at The Rainbow in Fitzroy. I wish I could post them here but you can view some here www.davidcollopy.com Such a wonderful performer and gentle man.
I've got some great mini disc recordings from the Old Colonial inn. Beautiful, amazing soundscapes. Chris never said no to me recording, let me put mics all over the place. What a guy, we were lucky to know him. ❤

Best version of "It Takes A Lot To Laugh, It Takes A Train To Cry". Thank you Chris for leaving us with that. RIP
