10:12 "Japanese learners are crazy" in terms of resources definitely, can't imagine learning a language other than English or Japanese since both are so rich in resources, I think in terms of specialized software Japanese is unbeaten though and most of which is free and regularly updated, can't imagine how it must be to learn a language that isn't so popular resource wise. I have so much stuff installed on my computer just to optimize Japanese, not that any is necessary to just immersive and accquire the language, but it does help, though it's probably inaccesible to anyone who barely knows how to use a computer sadly. Hopefully, other languages will follow with the rise in sentence mining and the like.
Jeeeeez…happy to be a learner of a European language because ya boi can just copy and paste whole sentences without the masters degree in computer science to be able to sentence mine!
Not sure if we watched the same video but his Czech setup at the end hardly seemed any easyer than the Japanese one lol. Also, why would automated sentence mining be simpler with Europen langauges, the proccess is always the same, you need Anki (or any other SRS), something that can capture the audio, ss and subs and a popup dictonary to look stuff up and make the cards, not sure how any of this is specific to Japanese or any other non European language.
Everything is working fine for me except for when I mouse over the subs I cant see the little explination menu? anki is ticked on yomichan and I have the right ip etc?
Is there any way to convert a non-japanese dictionary to yomichan format? I can't find any mobile tools other than jidoujisho but it doesn't seem to support my dictionary files like Vocabsieve
I don't know anything about that, but I'm pretty sure Yomichan is just for Japanese. It'd probably be better to reach out to the Yomichan devs and see if there's a process for it. - Ben
@@Refold it's a pity there're not so many sentence mining tools for mobile.. jidoujisho works perfect for Japanese but it's almost impossible to find a compatible dictionary for any other language, mining with mobile is just much more convenient sometimes
Sadly, no. Hardcoded subs (that are in the actual video) aren't accessible by programs like this. You might want to look into ShareX, which is OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software which *can* read those hardcoded subs. Best of luck! - Ben
Do you have the most recent version of ASBplayer? It's now in the Chrome Web Store. I've been using it for over a year to make audio cards and have never had a problem with it. - Ben
When you're studying a card, you can always press E to edit the content and put the IPA wherever you'd like. Usually, having it on the back with the audio is the best place for it. If you need a way to find transcriptions, Wiktionary (or other online dictionaries) usually have good transcriptions.
ASBPlayer doesn't have a dictionary. That's what Vocabsieve or Yomitan does. But if you have another way to add meanings to your cards, that'll work too! - Ben

Im learning Korean so it sounds like i cant use Yomichan or Vocabsieve but ASB media sounds like a good resource and i can add the definitions myself maybe
i dont like when extensions work with anki because it needs a lot of setup and still faulty. asb player is more useful outside of youtube for me. i prefer using language reactor. its easy, to the point and you can add your go-to dictionaries maybe a bit slow if you wanna make cards because you have to add the information yourself to anki but when it comes to watching videos outside of youtube, this is the only that is free and functionable enough option. that i have seen.
Click the extension in the top right, choose "MISC" and then "Auto-copy current subtitle to clipboard." And make sure you're using the most updated version: ruclips.net/video/GYsf-NOVoYc/видео.html - Ben
I almost paid for a subscription service for making Anki cards but you showed me how to get the same results for free. Thank you bro!
This video may have just 100x my rate of Japanese Acquisition.
I had no idea all of these free tools were out there.
Thank you so much Refold Team

Ben your videos are so much better when you're not reading scripts. They feel natural and you come across as knowledgeable and confident.
This is mind-blowing...way much better than me manually screenshoting and adding to cards. Also love that it includes mp3s
Really great video thanks. First time I've seen it done from start to finish "live".

This changes everything. Thanks man.
Yomichan is no longer available for download it says. Is it okay if I use the Yomitan?
sadly, vocabsieve doesn't translate no more. It's said definition not found
By the way it seems to not work on brave browser currently, so if you have errors switch to chrome
Everything is working fine for me except for when I mouse over the subs I cant see the little explination menu? anki is ticked on yomichan and I have the right ip etc?
Are you holding shift? Yomitan needs to be told to work. And do you have the subs enabled through ASBplayer?
@@Refold yeah I just had to hold shift :D sorry, busy day at work I must have not heard that part. Thank you very much
wikionary (English ) dosen't work for me . i have put it as dictionnery source (Windows)
it tell me no definition found for "x word".......
In the past few days, it's also broken for me, finding no definitions. I'm opening an issue on the github page
@@Refold is it fixed ????????

does this work for spanish?
Yep! It works best with European languages, but many others work as well.
Man Japanese mining makes my head hurt sometimes lol
Just setting up made my head hurt... and I'm not even learning Japanese!

How can I use them to make "audio sentence" cards? I tried to some settings in ASB player and vocabsieve, but unfortunately it didn't work.

What I mean is put only the audio in the front of the card and the rest in the back. Do you know how to do that? Thanks
Do all of those plug in work in Mac?
How to add the IPA of the whole sentence?
When you're studying a card, you can always press E to edit the content and put the IPA wherever you'd like. Usually, having it on the back with the audio is the best place for it.
If you need a way to find transcriptions, Wiktionary (or other online dictionaries) usually have good transcriptions.
Hey I noticed ASB Player can directly create cards from media. Why then should we need to use Vocabsieve?
ASBPlayer doesn't have a dictionary. That's what Vocabsieve or Yomitan does. But if you have another way to add meanings to your cards, that'll work too!

The step of downloading the subs and then uploading again makes this so tedious 😢
